The truth isn’t always pretty
Nora
Britt and Patton visited and brought their two-year-old twins, Braydon and Peyton, with them. They enjoyed playing with the boys. Patton visited Matt while Britt and I discussed our parents.
We sat at the table, drinking pop.
/"Have you spoken to Mom?/" I asked Britt.
/"Not since I ran away from home. After what he put us through, Dad shocked me by wanting to reconnect./"
/"Why would Mom allow the abuse? Shouldn’t a mother protect their children? I would./"
/"I would, too, but our mother wasn’t like that. I remember after Mom and Dad would fight, we dealt with dad’s wrath. He would mumble things about the Gray family. I never understood what he meant./" Britt shook her head.
/"Dad said Nate visited him and set him straight about our grandparents. Why would Nate do that?/"
/"From what Patton said, his Grampa disliked lies and didn’t accept it from his kids./"
