Her angry brown eyes scanning the room until they land on the child in my arms.
/"What are you doing with...that thing?/" She hisses, referring to Victoria
Victoria, noticing this, hides her face in my chest.
I frown at this.
/"Caring for her,/" I retort
I wrap my arms tighter around the child's body when I feel her body shake against mine, as if she were crying.
/"It is this thing where you take care of someone because you genuinely care about them,/" I explain to her
My eyes trail down her angered face before meeting her eyes again.
/"But I would not expect you to know anything about that/" I say as I stand up from father's leather couch
I carefully balance the sobbing child on my hip when I feel her begin to slip.
/"We are not keeping her here, the press-/" the woman begins to say
Ugh!
Why is everything always about the press?!
/"The press can suck it for all I care,/" I say
