The bright sunlight was blocked out by the thick window curtains making the room dark. An outline could be seen in the middle of the room with the help of a very dim light coming from the tv screen. Weird creepy noises sounded across the room when, Bang, the lights were turned on in an instant with a little too much force.
''I can't do it. I can't do it.'' A girl said in a hurried and shaky voice as she patted her chest in an attempt to calm herself down.
With a gray jogger and oversized white t-shirt with prints on the front, the girl who looked like she was in her late teens stood up while brushing the throw blanket off her shoulders.
She picked up the phone on the table and dialed a number very familiarly.
"Hello?" The person in the other side had a matured and stable voice that could give anyone who heard it a sense of oppression.
"Annaaaa…" The girl used a soft tone as she called out in a cute voice but the other side just said a word to cut her off.
"No."
"Hey. Please. Just this once. I swear it's the last time."
"That's what you said the last time as well."
"But I really want to watch it."
"Who's stopping you from watching it?"
"But you know I can't watch horror movies without someone sitting next to me."
"Gosh Ave. Get over it. There are no such thing as ghosts. Just watch it like you watch zombie movies. And don't turn off the lights or close the curtains."
"But then the whole atmosphere would be ruined. Annaaa please come over. I just got two weeks off and if I don't watch the movies I collected all this while, it would be a waste of my break. Okay? Come over please…?" Averi said in a sing song voice at the end to make her voice cuter and get the other one in her claws.
"You do know that it's you who is on break. Not me. I still got a lot of artists other than you to handle."
"But-"
"No buts. Bye bye." Anna hung up the call as soon as she could leaving a shocked and dispirited Averi on the other side.
Averi slumped back on the sofa as she stared at the ceiling.
"Guess that means no horror movies for me."
Just then her phone made a noise signalling a text message.
Jace: Come over to The Delights room 502. Yes. I'm back. I know you were going to call to ask. Just come on over. It's an emergency. Come quickly. RUNNN!!!
Averi immediately got up, picked up her car keys and left rushing through the door. She didn't even care to change her clothes or tidy herself up a little. Heck, she didn't even change out of her home slippers.
