"And these are your pay checks." Jace said as he handed the others an envelope each.
"Damn!" Mathew couldn't help but curse when he saw the amount inside.
On the other hand, though Chris didn't voice it out like Mathew, his face was visibly contorted due to surprise, or rather shock.
"I kept my promise, right? The two of you earned more than them." Jace said she he looked at them with a smile.
Averi looked on with interest as Dylan took out a hundred dollar bill from inside.
Chris and Mathew also took a hundred dollar bill but they didn't stop at that.
The two of them flipped their own envelope upside down and a penny fell from the envelope.
Clinking sounds rang out in the now silent room as the two pennies dropped on the table.
One second
Two second
Three-
"Hahahahaha..." Averi laughed out loud, unable to control herself while Jace soon followed her. Even Dylan couldn't help letting out a few chuckles as he turned his face to the other side to hide it. But the shaking of his shoulder gave him away.
Mathew and Chris really didn't know how to react at the moment and took some time looking at each other but the moment their eyes met, they also burst out laughing because the look on the other person's face was not something that could be let go.
The surprise. The shock. The look of not knowing what to do or how to react while also have that tinge of helplessness as if this really wasn't something totally out of expectation. In short, the look was really evoking laughter that wouldn't stop for at least a couple of minutes.
After around ten minutes, the group looked at each other solemnly for a few seconds only to burst out laughing again.
Only after another few minutes did Chris finally said, "I did expect for the difference to be low but I thought it would at least be a dollar. Never did I expect it to be a cent."
"Exactly. When he brought the contract to be signed, he was brimming of confidence and eloquence. A higher pay then the two best actors? A way to mark my presence? Golden opportunity?" Mathew followed up on after Chris as he looked straight at Jace.
Jace quickly defended himself. "See? I didn't lie to you. I said a higher pay than those two and I did give you an amount higher than them. It's your fault that you didn't care to ask how much exactly. About marking your presence, of course you guys did it. This is the lowest rate at which a show could call on such figures so it obviously marked your presence. And about having the golden opportunity. Isn't this it? When will you get to hangout with the other person out here? Be honest, you guys are barely considered acquaintances at most. This will give you guys the opportunity to make friends and enjoy vacation. On top of it, it's paid vacation. How great is that?"
