"Why didn't you mention that coming here was part of the plan?" Evelina settled into the chair, surrounded by a cluster of clothes. "I could have brought a little present for her."
"Because it wasn't," Priscilla said, brushing a damp strand of brown hair away from her face. "The rain compelled me to give it a try. And I wasn't sure if I wanted Timothy involved this time. You know Aunt Arabella's reputation and how our families would disapprove of our visit."
"I know." Evelina sighed, her voice heavy with comprehension.
Returning with two peach towels straight out of their wrappers, Lady Arabella handed one to each of them. "These should warm you up for a moment while I boil some water. Would you like a tea?"
Evelina nodded, her teeth chattering, as Lady Arabella went about her tasks.
