At the crook of the night, the silhouette lying under the duvet kept turning and kicking the covers. Their low breathing turns hot. The room temperature is in a normal ratio, but the silhouette lying down on the bed feels uncomfortable with their eyes closed tightly as they fight to wake up from their overbearing dreams.
The duvet cover and the sheets felt the ruts of their anguish as they kept squeezing and twitching it. Hot sweat conforms on their forehead slicking down to their slender neck as the sound of breathing increases.
A woman rushed into the room with a shocked expression after pushing the door wide open. She walked directly to the figure on the bed in large strides and held them calmly by the arms. Shooking them lightly.
"Malone, wake up, it's a dream. Wake up." She said in a loud frantic and gentle voice close to the figure's ears. While she kept shaking the body lightly. Her eyes were moist with tears.
The figure suddenly flicks her eyes open. Fears were obvious in those crystal clear eyes that kept shuddering without stopping. Her heart kept paving up and down as she tried hard to control her breathing. The woman sitting at the edge of the bed close to her smiled deeply. "You are awake, here have some water darling." She poured the water from the glass jar on her table into the glass cup and handed it to her.
Malone took the water and drank with hurriedness. She returns the cup to the woman, her breathing getting back to normal. She glances directly at her door room in alarm as something clicks in her mind. She returns her gaze to the woman. "Mother is father back yet?" She asked in a shaky voice. Her mother stared at her dump and struck at the question seeing the strange reaction coming from her daughter. "Not yet, Malone, why do you ask? You have forgotten your father had to join his Boss on a business trip?" She explained with a worried expression.
Malone, eyes flutter sometimes and calm down her breathing. But still, for some reason, she feels restless. "That's true." She whispers slowly.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The repeated knocking on their door jolted them up. Malone glances at her mother in shock, while her eyes flicker in panic. Her mother glances towards the living room and glances back at her daughter who has been acting strange since she woke up from her nightmare. "Malone, stop being jumpy. Let me check who is at door by this time of the night." She explained. "It's 2 am… 2 am." Malone slowly said while looking at the table clock beside her bed. The woman sighs and swallows hard and goes towards the living room leaving her behind.
Malone shoved off the duvet cover and followed her mother, her heart clamping in panic. Many strange feelings kept surging through her body. Her mother slowly walked towards the door of the living room and took a light breath and started. "Who's that?" "This is inspector Carlos and digtative Greg from the state police." A ruff voice responded.
She widens her eyes in confusion and looks through the PINhole of the door. She saw two men dressed in police uniforms. Their head cap and the top of their shoulders were drenched from the snow. She slowly opens the door revealing them more.
Malone is already standing behind her mother, with wide eyes. Thinking about why the officers are at their homes at that hour.
"Any problem, l can help you with officers?" Her mother asked with her raised brows while observing the policemen.
The two officers glanced at each other, nodding silently at each other, they brought out a drenched wallet with blood stains. He opened the wallet and brought out an old card from it.
For some reason, the old card looks familiar to Malonie and her mother. Her mother gasps silently, not saying a word. Not trying to make a dangerous thought. Malone kept biting on her soft lips tightly while holding the hem of her nightgown tightly. Her knuckle shaking.
"l believe this is the House of Mr. Black, and you are…" the officer with a bald head continues, looking back at the mother and daughter. "You are his family." He finished the last part while waiting patiently for their response. Malone's mother nodded with difficulty. Her breath stuck in her throat. Malone on her part was losing it.
"Okay, Mr. Black was involved in a fatal accident and many lives were Lost!" Malone's mother fell to the floor immediately after the officer with the Bald head dropped the words. She was caught mid-air by the other officer like they knew that would happen. Malone's eyes died with the remaining life left in them as she kept staring at the officers. "Calm down, you need to follow us to the hospital right Away!" The officer with the Bald head added.
Malone dashed out after the officers said that. The bald officer ran after her and held her by the shoulders. "Calm down Young Lady, We will get there, Trust Me!" He convicted her. The other officer led her and her mother to their police Van and got them to sit down comfortably in the back seat.
They jumped inside the front seat and drove off to the hospital. The whole drive to the hospital was filled with a silent and sad atmosphere.
Once they got to the hospital, Malone and her mother jumped out of the car and rushed inside the hospital without wasting much time. The two officers follow behind them with similar dark expressions. Malone's mother rushes to the nurses at the front desk and queries them immediately about her husband. "Where is he? I… am... He's here right?" She kept mixing her words, her body shaking and filled with panic.
Malone walked up close to her and held her from the back, and took over to ask about her father. "Mr. Black Santos, he was brought in here a few moments ago?" She asked, while her lifeless eyes were locked on the nurses.
The nurses felt a sudden chill running down their spine. The young lady in front of them looks kind of vulnerable in appearance but the aura she emits is very strange. "Let me check," one of the nurses replied, looking down At the folders before her.
