Chapter 31 - "The Search for the Tower of Yin Spirits"

Hey, distinguished gentlemen, I am not sure what your instructions are to me. Roddick pretended to grin while covertly glancing at the door, as if he were ready to rip open the door and run at any second. Alex smiled but said nothing. He then pointed his palm in the direction of the door and ordered a skeletal soldier in full armour to appear.

The door was entirely blocked off by the towering skeleton soldier who was standing in front of it. Alex understood from Ella introduction that the guy in front of him was a complete fool, full of nonsense, and incredibly cunning. With this kind of individual, discussion and negotiation are not possible.

The most effective way is direct violent suppression, given that it may discourage him and cause him to experience fear and despair. When Roddick spotted Alex at this moment, he said nothing but nonchalantly called forth a undead with an enchanted rifle in his hand, sending a chill up the back of his spine.

The following is considerably simpler to manage. The entire exchange took place in a cordial and welcoming setting. During a cordial conversation, Alex is able to obtain the location of the Tower of Yin Spirits' secret base in a town called LIGHTWELL.

This town, which is located in the city of PARSLOV, is known for its ceramic production, but the quality of the ceramics has declined in recent years due to the depletion of clay. It takes approximately three or four hours to reach LIGHTWELL by horse-drawn carriage from PARSLOV, which is seventy kilometres.

Alex decides to take the necessary precautions and inform Viscount Ashby of his absence before leaving for LIGHTWELL, in order to avoid any suspicion that he has fled like Dr. Fauci. Alex does not have a strong sense of loyalty to the Wilson family, but believes it is not yet necessary to completely abandon them.

Despite the dangerous situation in PARSLOV City, Alex is confident in his ownership of the cemetery and hopes to take advantage of the crisis to further his own development.

After preparing for his journey, Alex boards a carriage for the town of LIGHTWELL at 3:30 in the afternoon. The driver is eager to arrive before nightfall. LIGHTWELL Town is a town with a county-level administrative unit, but only has a poorly maintained police station.

The police station is led by a sheriff and a small team of officers, but their authority is limited. The true armed forces in the town are actually the security units of two large ceramic factories, which consist of hundreds of people, many of whom are armed and well-trained former soldiers. The police station serves as more of a facade for the town's law and order.

Before his visit, Alex researched the situation in LIGHTWELL. According to Roddick, one of the ceramic factories in the town serves as the secret base for the Tower of Yin and is controlled by the organization, with a staff of over 50 factory guards under their supervision.

When Alex arrived in LIGHTWELL shortly after dusk, he saw that the town is divided into a shantytown where factory workers used to live and a more prosperous central area. The factory in the shantytown is no longer successful and many of the workers have left, making the area appear desolate. There is little light visible in the shantytown, in contrast to the brightly lit central area.

According to Roddick, he has a relative who used to work at a ceramics factory in the town. The factory collapsed due to an accident half a year ago and uncovered a cache of antiques. The relative, who was close to the owner of the factory, asked Roddick, a black market dealer, to evaluate the value of the items.

However, before Roddick could do so, someone claiming to be a member of a ceramic manufacturing trade union and a follower of the Lord of Yin Spirits approached the factory owner. The owner, believing the items in the cave belonged to him, locked up the person and consecrated the items. The owner also ordered someone to remove this individual from the situation which led to fight.

By chance, Roddick saw the man fighting and shouting about the Lord of Yin Spirits. Roddick was not particularly concerned with the man, but was more interested in the objects he saw, which were relics from the Shastras Dynasty about 700 years ago. Although they were not magical, they were in excellent condition and highly valuable.

Roddick was so excited about this discovery that he even stole a sheep and sold it for a large sum of gold pounds. However, a few days later, Roddick's relative suddenly appeared, seemingly terrified and unable to speak coherently. He kept saying "the devil" and begged Roddick to save him, implying that he was being pursued by some kind of evil force.

Roddick was shocked by this turn of events, as he had never encountered anything unusual in his years of working in the black market. He immediately became cautious and hired a mercenary to watch the hotel where his relative was staying while he himself sought refuge at the Magician's Association.

Roddick is registered as a junior magic apprentice with the association, but his talent is limited and he has had difficulty advancing, so he also works in the black market to make ends meet. This time, Roddick's caution paid off, as he learned the next morning that there had been a murder at the hotel.

Upon further investigation, Roddick discovered that not only his relative, but also the mercenary, had committed suicide. Although he couldn't believe that the two would kill themselves at the same time, the findings of the on-site investigation and other evidence pointed to suicide, and the police eventually closed the case as such.

Even though it had been some time since the events had occurred, Roddick was still terrified when he told Alex about it. Roddick might have just tried to forget about it if things had ended there, but three days later, his family received a visit from a ghost! It turns out that the manager of the ceramic factory, a man named Franz, had died, and become a ghost due to the accumulation of negative emotions like resentment, fear, and hatred.

Roddick was forced to keep searching for a way to deal with the ghost, and during this time, he learned that the ceramic factory in LIGHTWELL, Greece served as the secret base of the Tower of Yin Spirits. When Alex heard this, he was excited because he had experience in dealing with tough, undead creatures.
