Chapter 35 - "The Siege of the Tower of Yin Spirits"

Alex remained calm and raised his staff, causing the top of it to light up and unfold into a rapidly spinning circle. The energy of spiritism was quickly revealed, and within seconds, Alex was surrounded by an army of fully armed gun skeleton soldiers and bloodthirsty ghouls. With a wave of his hand, Alex signalled for the attack to begin.

The red-haired bearded man was the first to be targeted. He reached for his pistol and dagger in an attempt to defend himself, but was startled by a spreading icy light and before he could react, he was slashed across the chest by a rusty but sharp rifle bayonet. Blood gushed out of the wound as the skeleton soldiers nearby shielded themselves from the splash. They then proceeded to attack the next adversary with enchanted rifles and bayonets.

In a matter of seconds, twenty-seven skeleton soldiers and five ghouls caused chaos throughout the hall, leaving only the evil spirit Franz and a few ghouls as bodyguards. The supernatural creatures of the Tower of Yin Spirits eventually responded, with the four shirtless, musclebound men wielding tomahawks leading the counterattack.

Despite their efforts, they were unable to hold back the skeleton soldiers and ghouls, and half of their warriors were defeated in under two minutes. Only the four icefield barbarians, who were able to maintain their fighting effectiveness even during everyday activities, were able to put up a decent fight.

The four shirtless savages were approaching Alex, intending to attack him, when they were met with the muzzle of Alex's enchanted pistol and the attack of a ferocious crusty ghoul. Alex fired all the bullets in the revolver in one breath, but only two of them hit their intended targets, striking the heads and hearts of two of the barbarians. The remaining shots either hit their hands or feet, or struck an unfortunate person nearby.

Alex scowled, feeling cold as he had not fired a gun in some time. In normal circumstances, he would have hit all seven shots on target, but his aim was slightly off on this occasion.

Despite its power, the magical pistol is not overly strong. Alex's magical strength, along with the blessing of the pistol, is sufficient to kill an elephant. Even if the savages emitted a reddish self-defence aura, they were unable to stop the blessed bullets. The bullet struck the front of the barbarian's left rib with a loud thud, crushing their lumbar spine and piercing through, leaving a massive bleeding hole. The barbarian let out a howl of pain that had never been heard before.

Meanwhile, Alex's skeleton warriors and ghouls were like a whirlwind, killing all life in their path, including the women who had been harmed by magic and narcotics and were unable to defend themselves. These women's brain matter had been damaged beyond repair, and even the most skilled healer, the Holy Light High Priest, would be unable to restore it. Perhaps it is best that they died painlessly in this way.

Alex calmly loaded his pistol and aimed it at a bare-bottomed old man who was attempting to escape. As he pulled the trigger, a shot was fired and struck the old man, but a golden tower shield appeared and blocked the bullet. The shield crumbled upon impact, and a silver coin with a bullet embedded in it fell to the ground. The shield on the coin was fractured, and the entire coin was riddled with cracks, as if it were about to break at any moment.

Alex snorted, knowing he had stumbled upon a useful protective magic item that was able to deflect a bullet from an enchanted pistol. Unfortunately, the item was now destroyed and could only be used to restore psychic energy, which could not be used directly. Despite his regrets, Alex did not hesitate to fire a second shot as soon as the first was blocked.

It would have been interesting to see how much money this old man, who was still a junior apprentice, was wasting. However, the old man did not bring any surprises as he died quietly without screams after being hit by the second shot. Meanwhile, the evil spirit Franz, who had been lurking near Alex, transformed into a white light resembling a meteor and rushed towards Alex's left hand.

Two apprentice knights were about to aim their magical pistols at Alex from behind the sofa when the white light passed through their bodies, killing them instantly without causing any visible wounds. Another apprentice knight with a rifle met the same fate as his companion, being destroyed by the evil spirit Franz as it entered their body.

Alex surveyed the hall for half a minute and found that the only remaining beings were his undead army. All the inhabitants of the Tower of Yin spirits had been completely wiped out, with not even a single one left with a breath of vitality.

Alex immediately began to clean up the battlefield, directing the skeleton warriors to bring him all the superhuman corpses and weaponry. He then reached out and touched them, converting their psychic energy in the cemetery. This process was similar to opening a treasure chest in a game, with each body or item emitting a different amount of psychic energy.

In total, Alex received over a thousand units of psychic energy, bringing his psychic energy reserve to a new high of 2,000. "Hey, this time it's truly worth it, I've got so much psychic energy!" Alex had already planned to use the extra time to improve the crypt once he reached 2,000 units of psychic energy.

Alex was deep in thought when he heard a voice from the adjacent cubicle say, "Damn, you're here..." The speaker, a muscular man with a lot of makeup and a very feminine demeanour, opened the door and was greeted by the sight of Alex and his zombie army.

The man was accompanied by a handsome young man, both of whom were dishevelled but seemed close. Alex turned his head at the noise and couldn't help but frown. He had been careful earlier, but there was no one else in that cabin. Fortunately, the two men were not particularly alert and didn't realize what was happening until they emerged, otherwise they might have been able to catch Alex off guard and pose a danger to him. However, it was too late to think about that now.

As soon as the two men appeared, Alex's mind issued an order, and the evil spirit Franz and the hard-skinned ghoul, along with the three closest gun skeleton soldiers, rushed forward and fired their guns. There was a burst of gunfire, and the effeminate muscular man was hit in the brow, causing his skull to be blown open. His body crashed to the ground, startling the handsome young man and splattering blood and brains all over his face.

Despite being a junior apprentice knight, this young man is a complete novice with no fighting experience. He has grown utterly foolish in this position. He stared blankly at the sissy muscular man, forgetting that his adversary was still alive.

In the next moment, with a puff, the agile and hard-skinned ghoul leaped on to the wall and leaping to the boy's side, a sharp claw shooting out and sweeping across the boy's neck. Simultaneously, Franz charged forwards, intending to kill the boy with a soul strike. Unexpectedly, just as Franz transformed into a white shadow and was ready to pass through the boy's body, he screamed and was sucked by a force.

At almost the same time, the hard-skinned ghoul's sharp claws struck the boy's neck with great force, causing his corpse to fly out like a broken doll and land among the rubble in the corner. Alex realized there was a problem and wanted to question the young man, but it was too late.

He had to call a halt and order a skeleton soldier to retrieve the body. In reality, the young man was not particularly special, except for the sapphire pendant he wore on his chest, which was a magical item. As soon as Alex obtained it, he received a prompt: " magical item, the eye of the young dragon, an ancient necromancer's magic item. It can hold souls and transform them into ghosts... It has the ability to transmute 1495 psychic energy!"
