Chapter 36 - "The Ghost Eye Pendant: A Dangerous Treasure for Necromancers"

Alex's eyes lit up at the sight of a magical object with such a detailed annotation. He looked behind him and saw that the price had indeed reached a new high. One item was worth about 1,500 units of psychic energy, which was enough to kill two people and advance three apprentice levels. The true value of the ghost eye, however, was not in its amount of psychic energy, but in its own qualities of being able to hold souls and transform them into ghosts.

Alex was not sure how the young man obtained this magical object, but he was certain that as a junior apprentice knight, the man had no idea how valuable the ghost eye was to a necromancer. The idea of being able to transform into third-level arms by absorbing souls - ghosts - was simply unimaginable. Additionally, the ghost eye had a restraining effect on spiritual bodies, as demonstrated by the fact that the evil spirit was being drawn in uncontrollably earlier. Even an evil spirit one level higher than the ghost would not be able to withstand the ghost eye's coercive force.

Of course, Alex would not choose to transform psychic energy, but he kept an eye on it, ordering a skeleton soldier to bring the ghost eye pendant into the cemetery instead of taking it up directly. Alex's mind entered the cemetery a second later and saw the skeleton soldier holding the pendant. He observed and waited for the psychic energy of the cemetery to infect the pendant. This was the result of Alex's extensive research on the cemetery.

Anything that comes from the outside world, as long as it enters the cemetery, will be eroded by the cemetery's unique spiritual force. For example, the charmed firearm acquired from the old one-eyed man was brand new, but after being infected by psychic energy in the cemetery, it became rusty. However, the general performance of the weapon was not lost, but rather improved.

Alex also discovered that the mental energy of the cemetery was particularly corrosive; even if the buried magic circles or runes were invisible, any secrets hidden in the ghost eye would be eroded by the spiritual force, rendering them useless. Alex was not concerned with the state of the world. Some magics in this world are really wicked and vicious, and some so-called "adventures," "blessings," and "surprises" are not always beneficial.

The Association of Magicians has a record of it. Four hundred years ago, the renowned magician Wilkins Nantes mysteriously disappeared and the magic book he had studied for hundreds of years became widely sought after and considered a treasure by many soul magicians. The book was eventually divided into six sections and won by six official magicians.

Only a hundred years later, the five people who possessed the magic book of Wilkins Nantes, with the exception of one who died unexpectedly, were all promoted to great magicians. Only two hundred years later, Wilkins, who had inexplicably reappeared, was elevated to magister. At the same time, the five people who had studied his magic book and been promoted to great magicians all became stepping stones for his advancement, destroying their bodies, sacrificing their souls, and using them as nourishment for Wilkins' growth.

Alex was reminded of a novel he had read in a previous life after reading this. There was also an evil plot in the novel called "Nine Sons and Mothers Seeds of Magic." The nine seeds are given to nine talented young people to cultivate, and when the young people have finished cultivating, it is time to harvest. Mother seed has the ability to control child seed. At this point, man will be the knife and I will be the fish, and the outcome is predetermined.

When they received the seeds for "Nine Sons and Mothers seeds the Magic," these young people believed that their destiny was in their own hands, the treasures of heaven and earth, and they grabbed what they wanted and began their journey as the protagonist, but they also began to prepare wedding outfits for others.

Alex was extremely cautious when confronted with the unexpected ghost eye pendent, fearful of being caught in a trap. But this time he overthought it. The pendant was rusted after entering the cemetery, but there was no irregularity. It contained no extra soul imprints or abnormal spiritual energy. On the contrary, as the cemetery's spiritual force dwindled, the entire ghost eye became even more spectacular!

The Ghost Eye is not like the enchanted firearms Alex previously purchased. When the spiritual energy of the cemetery corroded it, it became mottled and aged. However, this magical item is part of the undead system, and as a result, it became more brilliant when corroded.

Alex examined it again and discovered that if the ghost's eye was converted into psychic energy at this time, it would really increase by two levels! "Does this restore this magical item?" Alex's eyes lit up. "I hadn't anticipated the cemetery having such an effect. Can undead magic things entering the cemetery repair it? But this is incorrect. That bone flute, though... No, the bone flute did not enter the cemetery, but was consumed in order to restart it." Alex was not sure, but he could not study it thoroughly at the moment, so he returned with his mind, called the skeleton once more, and returned the ghost eye to the exhibit.

When Alex took the pendant from the skeletal soldier's grasp, he noticed something strange. The pendant exploded into blue light and his vision was altered, giving him a cold and mysterious feeling. At the same time, several light spheres of different colours appeared in the abandoned office building that had been destroyed by the undead army.

These light spheres represent souls, which are classified into five types: blue, red, yellow, white, and black. The strength of the soul determines the size of the light sphere, with stronger souls appearing as large basketballs and weaker ones appearing as small table tennis balls.

Alex realized that the pendant, known as the Ghost Eye, allows the wearer to directly access the souls of the deceased. This ability is even more powerful than Alex's "necro Vision," as he is unable to detect recently deceased spirits with it.

When the pendant activated, two balls of soul light emerged from the bodies of the sissy muscular man and the attractive young man who had just been killed. The former was as large as a basketball, while the latter was slightly smaller, about the size of a volleyball. Since they had just died, their souls were still close to their bodies, within the range of the Ghost Eye's control. The pendant emitted blue light, drawing in the two balls of soul light. As he absorbed the souls, Alex felt as if he had entered a murky realm, similar to his experience in the cemetery but on a much smaller scale.

However, when he tried to use his mental power to transform the soul light balls into ghosts, the ghost's eye only vibrated twice and no change occurred. Alex frowned at this and wondered if the pendant was a faulty product. But he quickly realized that even if it was damaged, it should have been repaired by the cemetery's spiritual energy before any change could be made.

He then had a thought about the synthetic forging function, which seemed to be similar to the ghost's eye. He quickly gathered the larger soul light balls and tried again, filling all sixteen grids. This time, when the ghost's eye's blue light bloomed, it shone like a dazzling aurora for a full minute. When the light faded, the sixteen soul light balls had been replaced by three weaker, more void spiritual beings similar to Franz.

These three beings were the third-level ordinary arms, or ghosts. Alex was delighted and immediately brought the ghost's eye into the cemetery to release the ghosts. The cemetery's spiritual energy confirmed the new ghosts and they appeared near the abandoned tower's ruins, but they were afraid of the higher-level wicked spirit Franz and did not dare to approach it.

Alex noticed that the amount of psionic energy stored in the cemetery had decreased by 45 points, which means it takes an average of 15 psionic energy points for each ghost to obtain cemetery certification. This is half the cost of the 30 psionic energy points required for recruiting ghosts in the cemetery. Alex has not yet built an abandoned tower that can produce ghosts, and he cannot recruit ghosts using his psychic powers without the ghost's eye.

Despite this, Alex was pleased with the result and happily walked around the abandoned office building collecting soul light balls and converting them , which allowed him to gain three more ghosts. However, the remaining soul light was not as strong as before and resulted in fewer ghosts than ghouls.
