"Where am I?" was the first question I asked while staring into nothing for a good while now. Not even a speck of light could be seen from around wherever I was.
Wait...I'm I dead? Is this what death feels like? Hmm... Not as bad as I thought.
"At a point beyond time," the voice from before answered my earlier question.
"What?" I asked again as I searched for the source of the voice to no avail.
"Where you are, a place where time ceases to exist," it tried again.
"Huh?"
"For beasts sake you numskull! We're somewhere time doesn't move!"
"OHHH! Why didn't you say that from start?"
"Why didn't I say....." whoever it was, slapped his head like he was already tired of me.
"Hey, Death, or whatever you go by this days, can I be reincarnated into a demon? I am dead, right?" I asked the voice.
"I'm afraid not, kid. As I had previously stated, we're at a place beyond time. You are not dead but are going to be unless we come to an agreement," it answered.
"So like what? Are you darkness itself? Or do you just don't have a body?"
"You want to see me? Be careful of what you ask for," it said with a hint of menance in its voice.
"But I mean, if you don't want to...." I trailed of as the owner of the voice suddenly appeared before me.
The guy had pure red eyes that burnt like flames, and a hard, sharp jawline complete with a large scar that run from his right eye downwards to his nose, with pitch black hair for his head. He was easily a 6'5 foot, with a trench coat and dark boots to compete the look. Any girl staring at him might have tagged him as a bad boy due to his handsome youthful features, but his eyes shone with wisdom and knowledge.
"REJOICE BOY! FOR BEFORE YOU IS ONE OF THE MOST POWERFUL PRIMORDIAL GODS TO EXIST IN THE UNIVERSE!," he shouted while emitting a powerful aura.
"C–can y–you s–stop that?" I asked in fear while falling to the dark ground as my beast senses told me to stay as far away from the god as I could. A frown formed on his face before he dispelled his overpowering aura.
"Sorry about that. Just had to get in the moment. Listen, on to business. You're in a critical state, and I can help you out but... at a cost. I want you to become my disciple."
"Hold up, hold up, let me breath a bit!" I huffed while trying to recover my bearings...and maybe some courage too.
After two minutes( at least I think it was two minutes, I can't come up with a time frame in a place where time doesn't exist), I finally felt well enough to talk. But not as much as to stand in front of the god.
"First, answer my questions. Who the hell are you?"
"I thought we already passed that stage. I am the most powerful, almighty, king of-"
"Yeah, yeah, already heard that part but who exactly?" I asked, getting a bit irritated.
"The god Tartarus," he said, giving me a smile as if I should know him.
"Who?"
"Ruler of death?"
"Nope"
"All-seeing father?"
"Odin?"
"Damn. Then I really am old. Never mind who I am. Just know that I need a disciple, and you're in need of helping, so we're each mutually benefiting from each other. Huh, people really have forgotten about me. I'm sure Tryvon will have a good laugh about this," he said while shaking his head in disappointment.
"Wait, can you please elaborate from where you're from?" I asked him, my curiosity peaked.
"If I told you where I'm from, I'd have to kill you," he said, then seemed to consider the option of killing me, "Hmm...on second thought, I'm from-"
"HEY! WAIT! Don't tell me. I'll find out for myself," I said before the very powerful god chose to end my short life.
He gave me the "don't ask another question look", almost forcing to back down, but I had to ask two more question.
"Ok, before I agree to this one-sided choice, tell me, except from healing my body, what else can offer me cause I'm obviously in no condition to be a god's minion with my state. And what else do you want from me? It can't only be to be a disciple. I know contracts always have a catch."
"Now those are questions I could easily answer. What I can offer is the power to rule over any creatures of the dark as long as you are a level above them. Incase one is stronger than you, it will still be at a disadvantage due to a powerful suppression. Next blessing is that any ability existing in the beast verse can be absorbed by the dark mana I'll provide you, but you yourself will have to upgrade it to its max level."
"That second blessing is too good to be true. What are you not telling me, huh?" I asked while narrowing my eyes at Tartarus.
"Oh! Forgot to mention, you're not immortal so learning at most three skills is the max of your lifespan," he said with a smile.
"There it is. Even three abilities are impossible to learn! There has to be another way, right?" I asked him hopefully.
"Good luck finding one," he said, crushing my hope of having infinite power. "Before you go, remember you still have to deal with two grade C monsters and believe me, I ain't helping you. I've already reached my limit as it is so you'd best learn quick."
"Fine, I'll go deal with my problems myself. But before that, what else do you want from me? And how can I contact you again?" I asked.
"Look for my temple on the Brix planet. What I want from you, well... Let's just say, I'll tell you when you're a bit stronger," he answered as he started to fade away." Now go !" he dismissed me and my consciousness was pulled back to my body.
Tartarus watched as the white beam of light moved towards the Razor planet.
"He's gone now, so why don't you stop hiding and just show yourself, Fex," he said to the darkness.
"Never took you to be this observant, Tartarus," a calm voice anwered from the dark before a young boy appeared right in front of him.
"And to why do I owe this unpleasant visit from the god of technology? Need some wires to fix your brain?" he taunted.
"You're as abusive as usual. But that's not why I came here," he said as he observed the white beam making its way to Razor." I came for him!" he said and immediately fired off a blue beam towards the white light, catching it head on.
"WHAT THE HELL!" Tartarus shouted in anger as a black sword materialized in his right hand before thrusting it towards the god, who dodged it quite easily.
"Calm down you hot headed freak! I was just gaving him one of my divinities. We really need him to get more powerful due to the impending danger that threatens to end the beast verse," he said while dodging another attack from Tartarus.
"We can always destroy them. We are strong enough," Tartarus said, grinding his teeth in anger as he aimed for another strike.
"Maybe, but you know the laws and restrictions that govern gods. I mean, look at you, you'd have already chopped my head clean off in the first strike even before I fired that beam but here you are, moving like a noob's first time with a sword! Just go back to your castle before you burn away to nothingness, " the god advised before turning into blue particles.
"I hate to admit it, but he's right. Right now, I'm even lucky to be alive. Sorry Max, you're all on your own till you turn a good age. To think, a fourteen year old would have to suffer that much. I just hope that when we meet again, you'll be able to handle the problem that the beastverse faces. Sorry it had to be you," Tartarus said as he shook his head before he too disappeared into black particles.
