"Hey, put me down, Adrian!" Aurora yelped as I threw her over my shoulder.
"Beg me, pretty."
Even though I wasn't face-to-face with her, I knew she'd just rolled her eyes at me, and I smiled.
"Never," she huffed.
I shrugged. "Okay."
She went silent while I carried her in that position to the bathroom, then I put her on her feet on arrival.
There was a bathtub, and a shower aside.
"Wait here while I'll get the towels."
"Why does that sound like condom?" she laughed.
After learning about her past tonight, I didn't know how to feel exactly; it was regret, pity, and guilt.
Maybe if I had known earlier, I'd have treated her better cos she deserves it.
Thinking about my parents, anxiety had the best of me.
I didn't want my mixed emotions to reflect in my words or actions, so I just had to avoid stuffs like this.
"You aren't ready for it."
And if you're, I'm not. I said to myself.
"No–"
"Don't mention. We will only shower, and go to bed."
She placed her hands on her hips. "Why will a man refuse love making to a woman he claims to truly love?"
"Because he's mentally and physically tired. He can't even think straight with all that's revolving around his life, and all he needs is an understanding partner. Is it too much to ask?"
She said in a faint voice, "No."
I walked away to grab the towels, then I returned, and I met her in the shower already… without me.
That hurt more than I thought it would.
The steam from the shower made the glass door appear foggy, hence I couldn't see through it.
"Aurora…" I called out, but she didn't respond.
I knocked twice, careful enough of the fragile glass. "Babe, I know you can hear me. Let me in, I was only trying to explain things to you."
Still. No. Fucking. Response!
I tapped my feet against the black tiles, impatiently. "Are you going to spend the whole night there?"
About fifteen minutes later, she walked out naked, dripping wet. "Pass me my towel."
"You lost your manners?" I tore out.
She scoffed. "Please, my Lord, pass thee thy towel."
I rolled my eyes. "Babe, I thought we had passed this stage. For goodness sake, we're adults, and not babies. We should act mature."
"Who isn't?"
"You, Aurora! Can't you see it for yourself?" I yelled.
She crossed her arms, gazing back at me. "You know what? Goodnight, and I hope you feel better barking at yourself all night."
She actually threw those words to my face?
"Fuck yourself then, and tell me how it feels," I retorted without thinking, then I flung the towel at her face and walked into the shower, slamming the glass door.
…
(Aurora)
Fuck yourself then, and tell me how it feels.
Those words shattered my heart to pieces. I picked up the towel and dried my body, then I walked into the room.
I was forced to wear his shirt and pants to bed because we left the mansion in a hurry and I forgot to pack my clothes.
Each time I closed my eyes to sleep, his words would echo in my head, so I sat upright and rested on the headboard, hugging my teddy.
It's been thirty minutes, and he wasn't out. Why was he taking so long in the shower? Did something terrible happen to him?
Those thoughts kept popping up in my head.
My eyes kept flitting to the wall clock.
I gave up my ego and decided to check up on him. So, I slipped my feet into my flipflop and headed for the bathroom door.
I opened the door and my head bumped into something hard. I lifted my face to see what it was and realized I bumped into his head.
He had a loose grip of the towel tied around his waist, one of his eyes was closed and there was soap in his hair, behind his ears and literally above his belt.
It seemed he was in a hurry, and this happened.
"Ouch! So sorry," I winced, massaging the spot to soothe the pain.
"I'm sorry, too."
That was the least I expected from him. I was hoping to hear something like, Are you done fucking yourself?
"Why did you take long? I… I was scared," I finally admitted.
He itched his hair. "Uh, I've been trying to figure out something. Look here…" he opened his palm wide for me to see. It was a small black device with a constant red beep. "Do you know what it is?" he asked.
I shook my head after examining it closely. "No. Where did you get it from?"
"It fell off when I was washing my hair," he replied.
"And by chance, do you know what that is?" I asked again.
He shrugged. "I don't know, but it's surely something."
"Then let's find out," I suggested.
"Let's? Seriously? Give me a valid reason why we should work together."
"Because we're a couple," I said.
"When did you realize?"
Just apologize, Aurora.
I went silent for a few seconds before I spoke up. "I know I made a mistake, okay? I didn't mean to come off rude and immature, and I'm sorry."
"Me too."
"W-what?" I stuttered.
"Deep down, I didn't mean those words I spat at your face. I know I shouldn't make any excuse as a married couple to… you know," he laughed, and I smiled at him. "I'm sorry, my love," he apologized.
"Shush, it's okay. We have to find out what this device was doing in your hair."
"Yes, baby. But I need to wash off the soap on my body. Just a minute, or two," he said, then he ran back into the bathroom.
When he was out, he walked over to the dresser. He put on a nice blue short, and as usual, he was shirtless.
"Hey, I found something on the internet," I said, walking up to him with his laptop in my hands.
"Hmm, tell me."
"This small device works as an audio recorder, and a GPS tracker."
"Any more information?"
I nodded. "Yes. It's also water resistant, which means it's still functional."
"It can only be Kendall Campbell. Can't she just leave me alone?!" Adrian cried.
I chuckled, "Do we destroy it, or what?"
"Yeah, let's smash it, else she'll know about our plans."
"Alright."
…

We got rid of that stupid monitoring device, and I couldn't be more happier that we settled before going to bed.
I drew the duvet over us, then I switched off the room light, leaving the dim lamplight. "Blondie…"
She hummed a yes.
"Come here."
She drifted into my arms, lazily, and I wrapped my arms around her waist, then I ran my fingers through her hair, humming a lullaby.
She yawned and looked up at me with sleepy eyes, then she gave a weak smile. "Goodnight, Ryan."
I kissed her cheeks. "Sweet dreams, baby."
