Chapter 27 - TEOT 27

Greenville Hotel, Room 404.

Adrian's eyes flitted at his wrist watch every second, waiting for the anonymous person to show up.

The room was stuffy and he was beginning to sweat. He opened his first two buttons, hand fanning himself.

Just when he made up his mind to leave, he heard footsteps behind him, breaking the silence of the room.

He was waiting to be confronted, so he didn't look back. Though he wondered how he hadn't realized that someone was in the room, the whole time.

A pair of soft palms clung unto his back. He felt an immense, warm caress massaging his shoulders.

"You still keep to time, honey."

The voice. The sickly, sweet perfume that filled the atmosphere. The feelings that surged up when she was around him. The motion her hands moved on his body.

It had been years, but he couldn't forget it so easily.

She was back.

His eyes darkened. Every memory she brought back stirred up his anger. "Kendall, get your filthy hands off me!" he yelled, getting on his feet.

A remote coldness came into her eyes. She jammed the muzzle of the gun in her hand into his head. "Oh, shut up!"

He pressed the gun harder on his head, smirking. "Shoot me."

"I… I-"

"Go on, dollie," he pressurized her.

She put down the gun, walking around him in circles. "Wow, I'm proud of you. You have changed."

"Correct, and so? What do you want from me?"

She smiled, pulling his shirt. "You came to get that little brat, but let's not talk about that. I want you, baby."

He burst out in a loud laughter. "This is just… crazy."

"Do you think I'm kidding? I flew back to settle down with the one my heart beats for. And that one person…" she paused, pinning him to the wall.

"…it's you, sweetheart. I didn't outgrow those feelings I had for you over the years we spent apart. I– I still love you, baby," she added, brushing his cheeks.

"But I'm in love with someone else," Adrian broke out, pushing her away.

He continued, grinning. "Her smile. Her innocence. The cuteness in her sad face. When she's angry at me. The way she talks; her voice. Her morning face. When she sings and dances in the bathroom. I don't know, but her presence makes me go crazy. I'm in love with every piece of her. Madly in love. But you know what? I've hurt her enough and I can't tell her to her face how much I love her. Gush, I feel like a coward. I can't just accept the fact that I love that crazy lady. I keep ignoring her despite everything I feel. I think I'm weird. We've known each other for a few months, but I'm not sure if what I feel is true–"

Kendall screamed her lungs out as she pulled the trigger at the ceiling. "Shut. The. Fuck. Up!"

Adrian pouted, frowning. "Hey! I was talking about my woman."

"Nothing you feel is true! I'm all yours and you're only mine. I'm your woman, not her. I can't share you with anyone else. Get that into your head, sweetie! We are meant for each other and no one can come between us. We're inseparable, right? You even said it yourself. So, look into my eyes, baby and tell me you don't love me. Tell me I don't have a place in your heart anymore–"

"I loved you without knowing how, or when, or from where. I loved you straightforwardly without complexities or pride; I loved you because I knew no other way. You weren't worth it though. I'm sorry, but we belong to the past. You have to deal with your crazy obsession," Adrian blurted out.

"Call it crazy, but the truth is I don't care! Just tell me what I can do to have you back. To make you mine and mine alone. To win your trust and love again. You know I will do anything just for you– anything to save our relationship."

There was a note of desperation in her voice.

Adrian held her hands. "Release my family. Can you do that for me?"

An evil, devilish grin appeared on her face. Her tone warmed up. "Kiss me, then I will…"
