As I pondered my next move, I realized that I had a choice. I could either stay here, surrounded by familiar sights, and continue my search for anything that might give me some clues about world. Or, I could venture out to the location that was marked on the map, and see what was there.
It was a risky decision, but my curiosity was piqued. I decided to take the chance and go see what was at the marked building.
I made my way out of the town centre, moving cautiously and always keeping my senses alert for any signs of danger. As I walked, I saw more and more evidence of the decay that had overtaken the area. Buildings were partially collapsing, and it seemed like no one had taken care of anything for a long time.
Eventually, I reached the location that was marked on the map. I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. My thoughts were interrupted as I reached the only building, and I realized with a start that it was an old church. Its worn stone walls and tall, pointed spire loomed over me, casting deep shadows in the sunlight.
Cautiously, I approached the entrance, my senses on high alert. I had no idea what to expect, but I was determined to find out. As I stepped inside, I was greeted by the musty smell of old books and dust, mixed with the faint scent of incense.
My eyes adjusted to the dim light, and I saw that the pews were empty and the altar was covered in cobwebs. It was clear that no one had been here for a long time.
Despite the eerie atmosphere, I couldn't help but feel a sense of wonder as I explored the church. I padded down the aisle, taking in the stained glass windows and the intricate carvings on the walls. I was so caught up in the beauty of the place that I didn't notice the noise until it was too late.
At first, it was just as silent and still inside as it was outside. But then, I heard a sound. A low growl. I spun around, but saw nothing. I took a step back, my heart pounding in my chest. And then I heard it again. This time, the growl was closer. And it was definitely coming from something big.
I was face to face with a big, vicious dog. It was snarling and baring its teeth, ready to attack. And I was all alone.
As I saw the dog barks getting closer, my heart started racing. Panic set in as I realized I had to get out of there fast. I quickly scanned the room and spotted the rows of pews that led to the entrance.
Without a second thought, I jumped onto the first one and then leapt onto the next. The dog's barking was getting louder and closer with each passing moment, it trying to move between the pews to get to me and I felt its hot breath on my tail on more than one occasion.
I didn't dare look back, I just kept jumping from pew to pew until I finally reached the entrance.
I didn't stop there, I burst out of the door and into the sunlight. The dog was hot on my heels, barking and snarling. I quickly scanned my surroundings, looking for an escape route.
As I scampered down the street, I could feel my heart pounding in my chest. I had never encountered a dog before in this body, and I was terrified. I glanced back over my shoulder and saw that the dog was gaining on me. It was a big, slobbering beast with sharp teeth, and it was baying for my blood.
I knew I needed to outwit the dog if I wanted to survive. I darted down an alley, hoping that the dog would be too big to follow me. But as I turned a corner, I saw that the dog was still right behind me.
My mind raced as I tried to think of a plan. I spotted a pile of crates stacked up against a wall, and I made a split-second decision. I leaped up onto the crates, balancing precariously as I climbed higher and higher. The dog barked and jumped, trying to reach me, but I was just out of its reach.
As I reached the top of the crates, I felt a moment of relief. But that relief was short-lived as I realized that I was now trapped. I was stuck on top of the crates with the dog barking and snapping at me below.
I knew I needed to act fast. I spotted a drainpipe running up the side of the building next to me. Without thinking, I jumped onto the pipe and started to climb. The pipe swayed and creaked, but I managed to make it to the top. I crawled over the edge and onto the roof, panting and shaking with fear.
As I looked down at the street below, I could see the dog barking and growling below.
As I catch my breath and pause to look around, I turn my attention to the dog that was chasing me. I've never seen such an animal before - it's large, with fur that is matted and unkempt. Its eyes are wild and full of determination different from the dogs I was used to from my time as a human.
I'm relieved that I was able to escape it. I take a moment to observe it from a distance, noting its size, movements, and any other distinguishing features.
It must be a formidable hunter to have grown so big. Even with the matted fur, it's body looks strong. It's clear that this dog is no ordinary canine. I can only imagine what kind of prey it's hunting. Maybe even humans. With it's size that would not be impossible. I know that this dog is not to be trifled with. I'll have to be extra careful from now on.
I make a mental note of everything I see, just in case I encounter the dog again in the future. I'll need to be prepared if it comes after me once more.
But I was safe, at least for now. I had outwitted the dog for now and escaped, but I knew I was far from safe.
