Chapter 14 - Hello

I stood still as the man looked at me intently, a look of confusion on his face. He mumbled something to himself. I watch as the young man studies me, his eyes roaming over my feline form.

He mutters to himself, something about dog or a ferret of some sort. I can sense his confusion, but I don't move a muscle. I simply watch him, waiting to see what he'll do next.

I'm not as scared anymore, now that I know he doesn't seem hostile towards me. I've heard him speak before, so I'm not surprised that he's talking to himself in English. I simply wait, watching as he tries to make sense of me.

I didn't flinch as he reached towards me, but instead let him examine me.

His rough hand reached out towards me, but he stopped short of touching me. He looked at me with curiosity in his eyes, as if trying to understand what I was. I held my ground, watching him closely.

"What are you?" he finally said, breaking the silence. I was taken aback.

I am a cat...

He continued to study me, taking in every detail of my dirty fur and whiskers. I felt like a specimen under a microscope, but I didn't mind. There was something about this man that made me feel safe.

I wondered how he could be so fascinated by me. I was just a simple dusty cat, after all. But as I gazed into his eyes, I realized that perhaps I was not so simple after all.

The man didn't pick me up or try to touch me again. He simply looked at me, as if trying to make sense of what he was seeing. And as I looked back at him, I couldn't help but think that maybe, just maybe, this man was the key to unlocking the mystery of who I was.

The dog, now noticing my presence, suddenly lunged forward, barking and growling.

But to my surprise, the man was able to stop the dog, holding him back with a firm grip on his leash. I looked into the man's eyes, trying to gauge his intention. He still looked a bit bewildered.

The dog's barking became more frantic, and I knew it was time to make a move. I took a step back, ready to bolt if necessary. The man, sensing my unease, quickly pulled the dog back, calming him down.

I watched as the man stroked the dog's head, soothing him. Despite my fear, I couldn't help but feel a sense of relief that the man was able to control the dog.

As I continued to watch the man and the dog, I realized that this may be my only chance to learn more about what's going on in this strange world. So, I made the decision to follow them. I carefully jumped onto the roof whilst the man was distracted with the dog and started to stalk the pair from above. I was determined to keep a safe distance and remain out of sight, all the while keeping an eye on their movements.

The man and the now calmer dog were walking closer down the street towards the church were the commotion was heard. I followed them, making sure to stay as quiet as possible. I was surprised at how well I was able to keep pace with them, even from up above. As I watched, I noticed the man kept glancing up, as if he sensed that something was following him. But, he never seemed to do anything with that information.

I couldn't help but be intrigued by the man. He was young, maybe around his late teens and seemed kind. And the dog, despite its size and bark, seemed obedient and if a bit loud. I wondered what their story was and where they were headed.

I watched from my perch on the roof as the young man approached the church again, the dog at his side barking excitedly.

As they drew closer, I felt a twinge of fear. The dog was still wary of me, and I wasn't sure how the man would react if I kept following them. But I was also filled with a sense of intrigue, eager to see what they would do next.

I decided to keep my distance for now, not wanting to draw to much of their attention. But I remained vigilant, ready to make a quick escape if necessary.

The man reached the door to the church and paused, looking up at the sky. It seemed like he was deep in thought, and I wondered what he was thinking about.

The dog barked again, pulling at the leash and reminding the man of its presence. The man turned and smiled at the dog, patting its head before continuing inside the church.

The man's voice carries on the wind, and I can not understand what he's saying. He seems to be talking to someone else, although I can't see anyone else around.

I can't help but wonder who these other people might be inside the church, waiting for the young man to arrive. I tense up, ready to run if I need to. But for now, I stay hidden, watching and listening to the man and dog below me.

I decided to stay on the roof for a while longer, watching and waiting. There was something about this man and his companion that piqued my interest, and I was determined to find out more.

Maybe I should get closer to the church to listen in what they are saying?
