Chapter 2 - Spontaneous Exploration

After exiting Lovely Bites Selki finds herself bored and in desperate need of fun, setting out to find some she melds into the small sea of people that the midday forms. Dublin was greatly beautiful in the spring green that painted everything, the touch of color popped against the grey-stoned buildings. Deciding that she was just going to walk until her intentions told her to stop. It seemed like a silly idea, but what better way to enjoy her afternoon in downtown Dublin? Some people greet Selki in passing as they go about their own days, while others don't bother in greeting, but it's all the same to her as she ambles on to wherever her intention's path led her. About twenty or so minutes after she started her walk she stops and turns to the building to her left, a little crystal shop poking out from an alleyway.

Before thinking twice about what she's going to do she walks in. Immediately she's greeted by the shop's owner, to which she happily responds, looking in awe at all of the beautiful and different-sized crystals the shop had to offer. Walking down the couple rows of cases and shelves, her foot bumps something small on the shop's wooden floor, and a rolling sound follows after drawing Selki's attention to whatever was down there. rolling away from her slowly was a dark green spherical crystal, Selki gives it a little chase before catching it, and picking it up she feels a twinge in her chest. She rolls the Emerald sphere around in her fingers trying to find a price tag after there was none in sight she looks up searching instead for the shop owner.

"Excuse me ma'am how much is this?" Selki holds up the sphere showing the owner, who ushers Selki over, taking it from the woman the older woman studies the sphere like Selki did before but instead of awe and curiosity it was confusion and unknowingness. "It has no price because not an item in my store I've never seen this before." The old lady gives Selki the little sphere back and shrugs, "Nobody's been in here today. Just keep it, no one will miss it; After all, it's just a marble." Selki thanked the old lady and bid her farewell before setting out back home. Satisfied with her newfound marble, she decides that as soon as she gets home she'll put it with the rest of the collection.

After arriving home, Selki kicks her shoes off and takes the marble out of her jacket pocket, taking one more good look at it while walking to her room she sits it on her dresser along with her other items in her dragon's den. She decides on a hot relaxing bath to end the day's activities turning on the faucet, she waits for the big tub to fill until popping in the lavender and eucalyptus-scented bath bomb she settles into the fizzy hot water, almost being lulled to sleep by the warmth alone she forces her eyes to stay open as her tensed muscles relax. Baths were Selki's remedy for everything, there was no arguing the feeling of being refreshed, and clean from the day's activities.

Later that night while Selki is sleeping, a mysterious deep humming starts from the top of her dresser. A light starts to emit waking up a dazed Selki, who jumps into a fighting stance against the mystery intruder. After realizing that she's not being broken into and robbed, her gaze lands on the small glowing orb on her desk, before thinking otherwise she runs over to the dresser and leans forward to get a better look at whatever was happening.

It was the marble she found earlier in the day, maybe it wasn't a marble after all. She stretches out a hand to touch it, but the light goes away and the humming stops, as if sensing what she was about to do, without thinking any more about it other than imagination, Selki goes back to sleep.

I'm laying down on something soft. Turning my head, my gaze is met by the deepest green-colored grass, that is blowing slightly in the breeze. I stand up as fast as I can and take in my surroundings, trees line all sides of the grass clearing I'm standing in. I look down at myself, I'm wearing a green flowy gown that grazes the blades of grass. The place and gown are beautiful, almost magical.

A small white fox comes bouncing into the clearing to my right and I giggle at its prancing motions, it almost seems like it's happy to see me. It jogs up to me and lays on its back, looking up with questioning eyes. I kneel down and begin petting its stomach, the fox making happy yipping noises and kicking its hind legs makes me laugh a little more. I stand up after spending a couple of minutes scratching the fox's fur "Good boy." I tell it before going to walk off in any direction into the forest before me.

"Actually, child, I'm a girl, but I'll forgive you this time around." A female voice sounds from behind me where I left the white fox, turning around I'm met with the most beautiful-looking woman wearing a flowy white gown, with fox-like features playing on her face. "How did that, oh this is a dream isn't it?" I ask motioning around to the place and woman before me. The white-haired woman lets out a yipping laugh nodding, "Of course, this is a dream! My name is Tyroh I'm a fox spirit." the older woman holds out a hand initiating me to take it. "My name is Selki." I take the fox lady's hand and shake it. "What a beautiful name, Selki, sounds magical." She winks at me, smiling away. Says the magical fox lady. "May I accompany you on your exploration?" Tyroh asks me tilting her head to the side curiously. "Of course, it'll be fun." I smile sweetly at the lady, her personality is childlike, and it's hard to believe she's older than me. She then transforms back into her fox shape and starts to lead me on an adventure.
