After introductions, we are drug into a game of chase and catch, taking me back to my younger years, playing tag with the other school kids. "Ha, I got you!" a kid that was deemed the Chaser, hugs my legs, laughing up at me, meaning am to stay still until someone from my team comes and releases me. It oddly reminds me of catching and releasing an animal, I cast those thoughts away as Tyroh comes running up to me grabs my hand, and runs away from the child that's coming in hot on our heels. I let out a victorious laugh when he swipes his hand out and misses me, veering off to go and catch a closer little girl who giggles and runs away with a speed I've never seen.
Before we realize, the sun is already setting, the Dryad trees calling out to the Nymph children that were in front of us listening to me tell a story about my life back home, leaving out all of the ungodly things that I did on the mission, I told them about a stealth mission I did back in Russia, one of my first missions I failed coming into the Agency, one that almost got me fired as well. The children get up and wave goodbye to us before sprinting off to their respectful carers. I look over at a tired-looking Tyroh, figuring since we played the rest of the day away it isn't hard to have the same feeling wash over me. I get up from my sitting position and hold out a hand to help her off of the ground. "Come on let's go have a sleepover or something." I offer, she smiles and grabs my hand, I almost lose my balance as she throws all her weight on my hand, how is she this heavy, she looks so fragile.
The walk back to the castle is quiet, and as we slip back into the doorway the same two guards from earlier were back and definitely weren't happy to see Tyroh. "You little witch." One says while lunging at Tyroh while the other stands up straight from where he was slouching on the wall. "That wasn't nice at all Tyroh." He adds spitting at the ground, these boys were assholes, seeming as if it wasn't just a harmless joke she pulled they were acting like she made them do something terrible. I step in between the first one and Tyroh looking at the guy standing in front of me and judging how badly this altercation could end for the both of us, him more over me, but you never underestimate your enemy no matter the species.
"If I was you I'd just laugh it off like the harmless joke it was before it's not so harmless anymore." The grin that slithers onto my face says that I'm hungry for violence. The two look at each other before laughing, "Kit she thinks she's a threat isn't that funny?" the guy looks back at the other leaving the back of his head and neck exposed, I thrust my elbow into his neck while kicking his knees out from under him. Kit as I presume looks from his downed friend and back up at me with wide eyes. "Holy shit are you like some spy or something?" He says shaking his friend awake from his little nap. "Or something." is all I respond with before grabbing a dazed Tyroh's hand and leading her toward the castle, feeling like a badass.
"Okay, you're going to have to take over the lead because I don't know where your room is," I say looking at a still-stunned woman behind me, shaking my head at her reaction. "Come on snap out of it, it was nothing." She shakes her head as if shaking out of her daze. "I'm sorry it's not every day you see someone take down a guard, let alone a woman, what exactly did you do back in your world?" Tyroh looks up at me with wide eyes, almost as if she is scared of me, my heart drops at her expression. "I was an agent, pretty much like an assassin, some missions just with less.." Looking at her face I see that what I'm saying is not working to calm her down. "violence." I grimace with the last word I say, with that said she nods and starts to walk in what I can only hope is a room with a bed in it, not giving me a single word. After what seems like forever she stops at a door decked out in glitter is her name on the door, I start to wonder how long she's been staying here. She looks at me before opening her door, the inside of the room has indigo colored walls that had a golden sparlke finish to it, the bed was huge and almost took up half of the bedroom, on it sat a ton of comfortable looking pillows, all ranging in the color purple.
"You must really like the color purple." I quietly chuckle out, but quickly sober up with the look she throws me, "I'm not making fun of you, I think this bedroom looks amazing, suits you." with the compliment on the room she smiles and throws herself on the bed, she looks tiny compared to the humongous size bed. I follow her landing right beside her as she giggles at being bounced around by my weight.
"Do you miss working?"
The question surprises me and it shows on my face, but I think about it for a few seconds before honestly nodding my head. "It was a rush, being able to be the best at what I did, even though it took me a while to get there." she nods as if understanding what I felt. "How long have you been here in the Mystic?" she pauses thinking about it for a while, a tear sliding down her cheek. "I was around four years old when I touched the emerald stone, I almost the last person through the gateway, the other was who caused them to close it." She begins to rub a long scar I didn't see before that lays on the side of her neck, I watch her sadly sharing the pain of my share of scars.
We don't get the time to do sleepover activities as exhuastion takes hold and my eyes slide close, Tyroh already breathing slower. Just like that sleep washing over my tired body and I welcome it with open arms.
