Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: Truth of Life

And he asked "Mama? Wat… happened…Papa?"

"Rubick, I even do not know" she sadly replied to Rubick

Mary's face had become gloomy while wiping her husband's body, she couldn't even imagine that she would be seeing her husband's condition like this. She understood that Yusoph's job had been in a dangerous field but reassuring herself psychologically cannot truly seem to help her when it comes to reality.

Rubick was even more frightened now because he couldn't even expect that his simple words can cause a mile of an emotional leap. Rubick doesn't want to just leave it like this, he wanted to ease the psychological pain that her mother had been experiencing.

"Mama? Papa…ish…stwong… and…he…wud…be…okay" He said to Mary

"Rubick…here…Mama" he added

Just a little bit of positivity can really improve one's mental condition, even if it's just a simple word.

Now, Rubick can see her mother started looking at him, and she gave him a gentle smile.

Mary returned her eyesight to the soiled body of Yusoph and she continued wiping and rubbing the piece of cloth into his body.

[An hour had passed]

Mary had settled down on the wooden chair near the bed where Yusoph had been laid down.

On the other hand, Rubick had continued what he was doing earlier before his father came back.

Rubick flipped to the next page of the book silently, and after he successfully went on that page his father had woken up from his slumber. Rubick immediately looked at his father who had been breathing heavily and a visible huge bead of sweat can now be seen clearly on his face.

"Where am I!?" Yusoph asked this random question without knowing that he successfully arrived at the Za'astaroz Village.

"Yusoph, please calm down yourself." Mary replied to the panicking Yusoph in front of her

"You are in our house at the Za'astaroz Village." She added

Yusoph immediately redirected her eyes at Mary and a visible tear had been revealed in the eyes of poor Yusoph.

He immediately hugged his wife tightly while shedding uncountable tears and he said "Thank goodness! You're safe!"

Mary had been puzzled about what her husband had been talking and she replied "Yes, Yusoph. I and your son are completely safe."

"Where's my little Rubick?" He asked additionally at Mary

"He's over there. He's reading some books." She gently replied

Yusoph's face had started to draw some shocking expression but he controlled it and immediately discarded it.

Mary saw this and she knew that Yusoph had been surprised at what he had known.

Yusoph doesn't want to waste some time and he immediately stated his true intentions from the time the "Flaming Ember" encountered that Evil God of Bones.

"Mary, we need to evacuate and get out of this Village as soon as possible. Before we leave, please prepare even just a number of supplies we should carry." He gave this request directly to his wife.

Mary had been dumbfounded at what she heard from her husband and she asked "Why?"

"I don't need to explain it much further, just prepare what I am asking for." His answer to Mary's "why".

"O…Okay, I'll be preparing that one now." she unknowingly replied

Mary had started standing up from the chair she had been sitting in for an hour and she quickly initiated packing some things that Yusoph had been asking for.

Yusoph also gets out of bed and changes his dirty clothes into a recently washed cloth.

He hurriedly checked his magical staff and his other magical accessories if there was something that had gone missing, but after a minute of checking, he can finally relieve his stress a little.

"Rubick, we need to evacuate as soon as we can." He informed his little child

Rubick's head had turned at where Yusoph had been checking his magical equipment.

"Why…Papa?" Rubick asked

"Hufff… I'll be explaining it later, okay?" Yusoph replied to another "why"

[Thirty minutes had passed]

"Mary? Are we all good?" Yusoph's thrown a question at his wife

"Yeah, I've already prepared it all as fast as I can." She replied with a visible sweat that can be clearly seen on her forehead.

"Let's go Rubick?" Mary asked her little boy.

"Okay… Mama" he replied

The family went out of their beloved shelter and they quickly proceeded to the huge wooden gate of the Za'astaroz Village.

Mary was now really confused, and it was because almost all the houses they have recently passed through had already been left behind completely and a little number of families can also be clearly seen at the huge wooden gate.

"Did you also inform them to evacuate?" Mary asked this question while looking towards the huge gate

"Yes, because I need to." He replied to his wife

"Then why are we evacuating from this Village?" she additionally asked Yusoph

"Mary, we need to evacuate as soon as we can because an Evil God had descended from the surface." He, at last, informed Mary about the truth.

"An Evil God?" she specifically pointed at these words

"Yeah, just like from those old stories that came from hundreds of thousands of years ago." He said to his wife

"I thought they were not real! I thought all Gods are good. Why is that?" she asked in sequence at her husband.

"I… really don't even know, Mary. I'm really sorry." He replied apologetically

"That's fine Yusoph, but how did you know about it?" she asked non-stop at Yusoph

"I knew about it because we personally encountered the Evil God." He replied and his face had become sad as he thought of someone else

"That's why when I came back to the Za'astaroz Village I was THAT closer to death." He gave emphasis on what he had said

Mary unconsciously opened her mouth and she hurriedly covered it with her left hand because her right hand had been holding Rubick's left hand.

"And my colleague at the "Flaming Ember" Mercenary Group sacrificed themselves so that I can quickly inform the citizen of Za'astaroz Village to evacuate before that entity can kill 'US' all." He added

"You mean Rubia, Tom, Grandell, and Dea?" she couldn't bare the shocking news that her husband had been spilling on her

"Tom and Dea, yes, but I don't know about Rubia and Grandell." He clarified to his wife

"I'm really sorry to know about that one Yusoph, but I am really thankful for them at the bottom of my heart." she said to Yusoph while a tear started to fall on the ground.

Yusoph had started thinking about "Grandell" and "Rubia" in regard to the conditions they have been facing without knowing that Grandell and Rubia's life had been taken earlier than the other two.
