Shau Ting's family is a middle class family. She has seen a lot of struggles in her life. So she always wanted to become a better and successful person so that she could help her family afterward.
And the same goes to Jee Wook. He also belongs to a middle class family and so Shau Ting also encouraged him all his life to become a successful person as well.
