Chapter 20 - CHAPTER 19: GEED RECEIVES THE CHRONICLES OF THE MAGI

Darkmanner removed tablets from the casket and handed them to Geed.

"These are the Chronicles Of The Magi. They contain the instructions for the forging of the Sword Of Light" Darkmanner said.

"Then why would you hand it over to me?" Geed asked.

"We'll soon duel Geed. I hope I see a worthy son" Darkmanner said as he held Geed.

Then a dark mist carried him and Geed away.

"What's happening? It's almost been three hours since Geed left" Alice said.

Suddenly, the floor opened up and Geed flew out. He hit the floor hard and lay still.

"GEED!" the others called as they ran to him.

Alice walked closer to Geed, then she went down on her knees.

"Geed, we were so worried. I'm so glad you're okay" Alice said as she placed her hand on Geed's shoulder.

She sharply withdrew her hand for Geed's shoulder was burning unnaturally. Alice backed away as Geed stood up. His eyes were glowing red. He looked around angrily.

"Geed! What's wrong?" Diane asked.

"I've never seen him in this state" Taros said.

"Geed, what happened after you were sucked into the Realm Of Darkness?" Alice asked.

Geed smiled evilly and began to laugh.

"I found a home" Geed said.

"No way, that couldn't have been you" Alice said as she ran towards Geed.

She hugged Geed tightly.

"I'm not losing you to the Darkness again" Alice said.

Slowly, the Star withdrew and Geed vanished into thin air.

"What?" Alice asked in bewilderment.

Suddenly, Geed landed from the Sky.

"Thanks Alice, you saved me again" he said.

"No problem" Alice said.

Geed opened his palm. In it was the Dark Gem! Geed removed the Light Gem from his pouch and slowly combined them. There was a flash of light as Dark and Light combined to form a White Gem. Suddenly, a voice spoke to Geed.

"Well done, now is the time to create the Sword Of Light!" the voice said.

"Wow, we finally have all the gems!" Diane exclaimed in excitement.

"That means our quest is nearly ended. All we've got to do is to find the Temple Of Light" Geed said.

"How did you find the Chronicles?" Alice asked.

"Darkmanner gave them to me" Geed answered plainly.

"WHAT?!" everyone exclaimed in shock.

"That's the truth" Geed said.

"So you actually met Darkmanner" Diane said.

"Yeah" Geed said as he turned away. "You know what the weird part is? He reminds me of me" Geed said.

"Geed, the darkness you had in your heart is dead. Do not put too much focus on it" Alice said.

"Even so, who's to say I'm any better than Darkmanner, I'm his son" Geed said.

"What?! That's impossible! That would make you…" Diane began to say.

"Ten millennia old? Actually no, I was transported to the future by Gideon. If that didn't happen, I'd probably be like Darkmanner now, probably even worse" Geed said.

"Stop seeing the Darkness in yourself. You are a good person Geed" Alice said.

"A good person? Ha! When Canine died, I nearly followed Alice. The only thing that kept me alive was the thought of revenge. The thought of killing your father. Do you hate me now? What sort of a good person am I?" Geed asked.

"I see. You don't think you're good enough. A person who makes a promise to a friend and fights to keep it, saves me from Darkhunters, spares a thief, saved Diane and fights monsters to keep a great evil from returning. Do you think such a person is not good enough?" Alice said.

"I'm really that good?" Geed asked.

"I understand why you want to kill my father. If I were you, I'd want to kill him too. You must not let vengeance rule you. Promise me that you'll spare him" Alice demanded.

"I can't make that promise. I don't know how I'll act when I finally face him" Geed said.

"The future holds a lot of uncertainty" Damian said.

"So what do we do Geed? Do we head back to the realm of Light?" Damian asked.

"I don't think the Temple Of Light was ever in the Realm Of Light" Geed said.

"WHAT?! What are you talking about? You trained in the Temple" Taros and Diane exclaimed.

"Don't forget that the Four Sacred Creatures we faced were the Temples Of The Gems. I believe that the Fifth Sacred Creature will be the Temple Of Light" Geed said.

"I see reason in that" Alice agreed.

Geed removed the Chronicles Of The Ancient Magi.

"Who'd have thought that I'd ever find them?" Geed said to his companions.

Geed opened the chronicles. There was a bright flash of Golden Light.

"Elements Of The Burning Flame

Reveal to me the Sacred Name

Elements Of The Blowing Wind

Together as one, in unity we sing

Water and Earth, Purity and Hope

The Seal has been broken, how will you cope?

Force that opposes the will of Dark

Now is the time, your will we Hark

Element Of Truth, the Shining Light

Come and join in this Ultimate Fight!"

Geed read.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Alice asked.

"It's not yet over, there's more" Geed replied.

"The will of Dark, the will of One,

A choice to make, Geed you can't run

A riddle to solve, the Sacred Birdsong

The time has come to create the Light Sword

Spirits of Earth, Air and Water

Spirits Of Fire, Dark and Light,

Come together, bound in Unity

Reveal to us the Divine Trinity

First you must face the Dragon Of Fire,

Reveal to us the Courage you bear,

Next in line is the Symbol Of Water,

Washing away your every fear

Wind, Earth and Dark, one will cloud your way

Your will must be strong, show no dismay

The Spirit Of Truth, the Emblem Of Light

The Great Star and Seal you must reunite

When Earth, Water, Wind and Fire

Cloud every single evil desire

When Dark and Light dance in harmony

The Truth you will find, your strength we'll admire"

The Chronicles Of The Ancient Magi read.

"It's definitely speaking to me" Geed said.

"What does it mean?" Diane asked.

"It's from the monks of Mereish, the Hidden Jade Dragon" Geed said. "In that long riddle, there's just one line that makes sense. Either that or a collection of rhymes. Everything else is written to confuse" Geed said.

"How do you know so much?" Alice asked in awe.

"King Aerobis' library. There are tons of books there" Geed said.

"So what's it supposed to mean?" Damian asked.

Geed read the inscription for a while and turned to face them.

"Honestly, I have no idea. Stand back" Geed warned.

Everyone obeyed.

"Let me try something" Geed said.

Geed shut his eyes as the power in him began to surge. Suddenly, the Star unbound itself and Geed was seized by the sacred power. Geed began to speak as though in a trance.

"The will of Dark no longer rules

The Light has conquered all the fools

The Sacred Birdsong and Ancient Name

Have long been bound in Wind, Earth and Flame

The Ancient Riddle to be solved

Is just a lie with Dark involved"

Geed then placed his hands on the inscriptions and as he did, all the gems rose from the pouch and their power consumed him.

"The lies of the Dark have crumbled away,

The will of the Light it failed to sway

Creature Of Light, long since bound

I release you now the Truth I've found"

Geed chanted. A bright flash of light transported him away.

"Another realm calls. This journey is becoming really crazy" Alice said.

"We've got to wait again" Diane said.
