Before Kissa could turn to face him, he grabbed her arms, pinning them to her back and wrapped his other arms around her neck.
The eye of Horus and eye of Ra around her eyes shone immediately, making her go stiff.
"Cairo…"
Scenes of him before her played in her vision. At first he was running with her, then she snapped out of her vision.
The vision seemed to have played for just a few seconds.
"Let go, Cairo." She struggled and the man behind her, shocked she knew his name loosened his hands a bit unknowingly and she used that opportunity to push him away and pointed her staff at him.
Surprisingly he became stiff and the lotus on the staff glowed. "That's what you get for underestimating me too much."
"Let go of me sorceress." He struggled but the force making him stiff only grew stronger and tightened around him.
"I do have a name, and mind you, I'm not a sorceress." Kidsa waved the staff with her and he was set free. "Don't even think about it or you'll end up being caught by Asim's men."
"Since you seem to want to make things easy for me…"
"I am making nothing easy for you, you're just daydreaming." Kissa replied as she rested on the nearby pillar.
"What exactly do you want, sorceress…"
"I am not a sorceress." Kissa pinched the area between her eyebrows before letting out a sigh.
"First, how did you know my name?" He asked as he stood alert in case it was a set up.
"I've got powers and your future seems…"
"Kissa!!" Kissa heard Asim's voice from afar but he couldn't see them because of the large pillar blocking them at a corner.
"You should leave now or you'll find yourself in Pharaoh's dungeon tonight. We still have a lot to say so next time you're going to try to kidnap me, use your brain." Kissa scoffed as she handed him her bracelet before rushing out.
"Kissa." Asim thundered angrily when he saw her appear from a corner. "Where were you?"
Kissa whimpered as Asim grabbed her hair through the veil harshly.
"I came out for a walk, Pharaoh." She said in a pleading voice. "Lots of eyes were on me and I felt uncomfortable. I thought you heard me leave, I'm sorry."
Cairo had the urge to go in between them and hit Asim but he couldn't do that.
"Listen to me Kissa…" Asim waved and all the guards there left hurriedly. "I control you, I own you. I decide what you do and what you don't. Understood?"
"Yes Pharaoh, I understand." Kissa trembled as he pushed her away.
"Good. Now dress well and meet me in the hall in a minute." Asim didn't wait for her reply before he turned his back and left the passage.
Kissa adjusted her veil and the hair beneath before walking after him. For a brief second, Cairo saw her black hair adorned with gold before she covered it up.
Cairo looked confused for a minute till an eagle silently landed on his shoulder. He looked up at it and collected the scroll strapped to its back.
"Poison Asim too.".
Cairo placed the scroll in the bag around his waist and waved to the eagle who flew away immediately.
Cairo was about to step out of his hiding place when a drunk guard stepped in there. He didn't even see Cairo before him so he used that opportunity to knock him out and collect his guard outfit.
The celebration went on till dawn where almost everyone was already drunk and with the help of maids, they returned to their rooms.
Asim didn't look drunk but Kissa knew he was drunk. "Bring Nubia over to my quarters." He ordered one of the maids as he stood up and gestured to Kissa.
Kissa stood up and followed him gently. He saw her to the entrance of her quarters before going back to his.
That night would be the perfect night for her to escape but she didn't even look moved at all. She quietly and gently returned to her room.
After undressing, Kissa was about to head to bed when a knock was heard on her door.
"Greetings Lady Kissa. One of your guards fell sick and we don't know when he would be returning so Pharaoh has ordered the men to put someone in place of him. I brought him here." Lapis bowed as the guard stepped in.
Kissa raised her brows as she saw Cairo standing there, next to Lapis in a guard outfit. She could easily tell he had other plans other than to kidnap her.
"Good. I haven't seen him in the palace before." Kissa folded her arms across her chest as she sat on her bed.
"The head of guards said he arrived a few days ago." Lapis replied.
"Alright then. I wish him good luck trying to guard me." Kissaa frowned before laying on her bed.
"Have a good rest lady Kissa. Have a good late night rest." Lapis bowed before walking out of the room.
Kissa and Cairo had a long glance at each other before Lapis pulled the door completely shut.
