Chapter 9 - Let's get married

NINE

James took her to his restaurant - Crystals Eatery, one of the biggest achievements of the Crystals foundation in America.

The place was nice and smelled expensive. It has an elevator and also a masters chamber. The floor was made of glass and you could see your reflections through it. Massive Golden bulbs hung in the center of the wonderfully carved ceiling, dangling from side to side. Each passage had crystal vessels for flowers and plants. Definitely, a sight to behold!

The employees stared with admiration and most of them forgot to pay courtesy to their boss. James didn't mind, his attention was on Merlin too. He didn't take his eyes off her even for a moment.

Merlin never ceases to return back their smiles and sweet gestures amicably.

Daniel, the vice manager welcomed them, trying hard to avoid eye contact with the goddess in front of him. He should not embarrass himself before his boss. Else..... James was strict and he knew what would happen. But it wasn't easy. Not easy at all.

He stammered as he escorted them and sweated profusely. His shirt soaked in sweat as though he was drained by the rain. His expression looked odd too and he sneezed severally.

Poor him!

James angrily dismissed him. He could walk with his angel alone, right?

Exiting the elevator, they arrived at the master's chamber - his second room. The master chamber is where he normally had lunch and rested during his spare time whenever he was away from home.

It looked more like his real room just that VIDA wasn't present.

Merlin walked past him majestically towards the dinning, almost scratching her waist on his...

James sparkled inside and tried to resist the urge. He sat with her as they waited for their meal.

Looking around the room, she rolled her eyes. He was rich - no doubt. She studied the room and noticed it had a library too. He must be a bookworm then.

She smiled as her gaze landed on the bed - soft and delicate. She wondered what crazy things could happen on it. Things she would love to be a part of...

James caught her smiling at the bed. "Feeling sleepy?" He asked.

She paused, bit her lips seductively and smiled, "It looks soft," she replied, placing a strand of her behind her ear.

James smiled back. This girl sure knows how to light him up. Just a simple smile and he was burning already.

Just then the dishes arrived. Mostly seafood. After arranging the dishes, the waitress left.

"Bon appetit," The uniformed waitress announced, bowing slightly.

"Let's dig in," James encouraged rubbing his palms. He took the cutleries and served the dish. Just to please her. Normal James would do no such thing. Not in this life but now he is different, not even sure of his personality.

Merlin frowned, "I don't eat seafood." Merlin rejected the food as he placed it in front of her.

James was taken aback. "Why? You don't enjoy it? Come on give it a try"

"It's a tradition. I don't eat it." she replied with a stern face. Then she forged a smile, "It's called allergy." She lied.

"I'm sorry. Please order something else, let me inform the waitress." He apologized.

"Your friend doesn't seem to like me," she blurted out.

James paused, trying to find the right answer. "He's always like that. But he would get used to having you around. Don't worry about him,"

"It's not like I care anyway. I just want you." she replied with a smile.

Oh! that smile again. James couldn't take his eyes off her lips. Small but sexy. He wanted it. A taste of it.

"I like you." she said again breaking his thoughts.

James was speechless. She was always ahead of him. She had courage too.

"I like you more," he replied, placing his hand on hers. She felt his hand, soft and cold and caressed it gently.

James passionately burned the more. Her eyes were on him. Those blue eyes were speechlessly captivating and he felt like they released unseen power...on him. For some reason he couldn't understand why she had those powerful eyes. They drew him to her, even when he tried controlling his gazes.

She brought her face closer to his. James couldn't define what he felt. Like his heart paused but his blood raced through his veins. Shivers ran down his spin as she lingered forward to him. Is she going to kiss him? He closed his eyes waiting for her lips on his. He wanted to savor it. Desperately.

Her scent was powerful too and it only made his desires stronger. He felt like this was it, something he has always wanted. Was he right? Or was it his desires getting the better of him?

Whatever it was, he had decided to take his chances. Even if his life was hanging on a thread which it actually was, he just didn't know. Would his choice be different if he discovered her aim?

"Then, let's get married." she whispered into his ear. James's eyeballs bulge out.
