Jax Skyborne was out on a stroll one day when, BAM! Truck-kun strikes again. (Jokes aside)
Jax spent his whole life in this in this tiny 140 sq ft room in which he considers a prison. He has always been a sickly child with a weak heart. Up until 10 years ago, at the age of 6 years old, Jax was able to be a normal child. He went to school, made friends and played with those said friends. Until one day, after school, he was out at the playground playing soccer with some of his buddies. Unfortunately, he played soccer a little too hard and his heart finally gave out. Ever since then, Jax has been confined to this torturous room, with its bleak white walls, thin blankets and water-tasting food.
Jax has a loving mother and father who did the best they could out of his situation. They visited him everyday so that he was not alone. Bought the boy a laptop so that he can stream his favorite anime series, Pokemon. His little sister, Haley even saved up her allowance to buy him Pokemon cards.
In truth, it has been so long that Jax was not accustomed to his daily life. Wake up, did his personal hygiene, walk through the hospital corridors, spent time strolling the hospital's garden, chat with the usual patients and nursing staff. All in all, Jax had a life in which he had little to complain about. I mean, food was brought to his bed like a king, he did not need to pay rent for his luxurious skyscraper-like view of the downtown city landscape, he even had a little girlfriend in the next room over who visited him everyday.
"Ah! Pokemon is on! I gotta get ready!" exclaimed the excited boy.
Pokemon was the only thing that got Jax through those hard times. At first, he was just like another other child who liked the Pokemon's cute appearances. Then, over time, it became an obsession. He got all the new Pokemon games, competed in them competetively online, played the card game with other children his age at the hospital and even tried making his own Pokemon lightnovel at one time. (Shhh we don't talk about his dark times.)
"...You teach me and I'll teach you. Pokemon! Gotta catch em' all!" blared out of the laptop.
After 30 minutes of watching the episode, Jax slammed his laptop shut with so much force, you could practically hear the laptop screaming.
"ARGH! WHY?! Why does Ash always neglect to train his pokemons! No wonder he's never won a competition!"
Beep...
"If I could give Ash a piece of my mind right now...He has so many pokemon with untapped potential just sitting in his PC! I would be a way better trainer than Ash will ever be!"
Beep...Beep...
"Ugh! God, if you're listening, just once...just give me ONE chance to prove that I coul-wait no, that I WILL be a better trainer than Ash!"
Beep...Beep...Beep...
In a fit of anger, Jax did not notice that his heart rate monitor was slow skyrocketing at alarming speed.
"I mean, all these movies with Ash's Pikachu battling LEGENDARY pokemons just for it to lose to a Caterpie not even 5 episodes after?!"
Beep...Beep...Beep...Beep...
After 10 more minutes of intense yelling at no one in particular...
"Huh? ARGHHHHH!" clutching his heart with both hands, Jax's face pales.
The machine is doing its best to send alarms to the nurse's station and not a moment later, 3 nurses rush into the room as fast as they could.
At this point, Jax is nearly passed out on his bed still clutching his heart and having difficulty breathing.
"Start an epinephrine. STAT!" yelled one of the nurses.
Beep...Beep...
Beep...
...
Alas, the stress was just too much and Jax's heart just couldn't take it anymore.
"Huh? Where am I? The last thing I remember is cursing out Ash and then my heart started hurting."
"Haha! Welcome, child! This is my wor-"
"AHHH! WTF?! Don't scare like that old man! Don't you know I have a weak heart?!"
Jax turned in the direction he heard the voice from earlier. In front of him stood a tall man with a long white beard and even longer white hair flowing behind him.
"From the way you are yelling, I think you are perfectly fine. Now, as I was saying. Welcome to my worl-"
"So where am I? I do not think I have seen you around the hospital before. Are you Santa Claus? I mean, it is a little early for Christmas but since you are already here, I want the new pokemon game that just came out. I watch version Violet. Please. And thank you."
"Argh! You little shi- Ahem! Excuse me. Patience...Have patience. He's just a sick little boy. AS I WAS SAYING! This is my world! Think of it as the blank space in between dimensions. I have both good news and bad news for you. Which one do you want to hear first?"
"Well, first of all, I want to know who you are if you are not Santa Claus. Then I wanna hear the bad news first."
"Oh my, where are my manners. You can simply call me Kami-sama. I am sort of like a god. I do not live on any one particular planet and therefore, am neither worshipped by any one particular race nor species. As for the bad news...Well, how do I word this as nicely as possible...I guess there really is not any nice way of putting this. You died. The nurses tried their best but we both know it has been a long time coming for you."
"Ah, okay, I see. So I died. Wait, if you are a god of sorts then did you hear my earlier wish?"
"Oh ho! That brings me to our good news! I did indeed hear your wish and luckily for you, I have the power of granting that wish! Now, you just need to pay me 999.99 over the course of four separate payment fees and I can-"
"Wait, wait, wait!!! What do you mean pay you? I spent my whole life confined to a hospital bed. I have no money!"
"Ah, well usually we would take karmic points but...well, you did not really do much your life did you? You lived like a normal child for six years, used your heart problem to give hell to the teacher, ordered the other kids around as a pretense saying you were too sickly to move, coerced that little girl in the next room over to date you saying you did not have much time left in the world...in fact, if I was not being lenient here, you have exactly 1 karmic point and that is simply for being born."
"Haaaaaaa? So I have no karmic points and no money. What exactly are my options now?"
"Hmmm. You see, there IS this one Pokemon world but it is in a very precarious situation right now. The Pokemon trainers actually failed to suppress the version of Team Rocket so now those hooligans are running amok. I can use your one karmic point to send you to that world and all you will need to do is clean them up for me. Well, what do you say?"
"That is perfect! This will be my chance to prove that I am a better trainer than Ash! Ha! He actually failed to beat Team Rocket? This will be easier than taking candy from a baby! I would know because I have actually done it!"
"Mhmm. We are in agreement then! Perfect. I will be sending you to your new home in, 3...2..."
"Wait! Wait! Wait! Don't I get to choose what kind of family I want to be born into? What about my own sub-space? Wait! I don't care for those! What about my super, OP, broken system!!!"
"...1! Enjoy your time on Kalpotron!"
