Chapter 13 - Inside the Adventures Association

Walking up the street towards the gigantic tower Mors wondered why he had never noticed this massive building before. Of course, he knew it existed, and you can't see most of it when you are by the city center. But, like with how tall it was, it should definitely be noticeable. Unable to stop himself, Mors, shocked, asked, "How have I never noticed this before?"

Laughing more, seeing the old man reach a new level of shock, Jarreld responded, "The tower is quite strange, and you're not the only one who has this reaction. Fun fact, this tower, the wall, and the Supreme Mage tower, were all here before the town came to be. Apparently, explorers just found these here when we moved the fog back. So it was definitely a strange sight for the exploring party. Also, because I was also curious about this, the spikes did come with the place… they even held some monster bones."

Taking a deep breath, Jarreld continued about the town's history, which only slightly bored Mors because he knew a lot of this additional information. But the information about them finding this place already here astonished him. With something so grand like the massive walls, who would leave here? This place was super secure as it was, and with these large structures, they definitely should have been able to survive… right?

But something eventually stopped Jarreld's explanation and pulled Mors out of his head. That was them arriving at the main door of the building. With its detailed, intricate design, made out of what seemed like pure glass sculpted, it was home to strange symbols in the frame of a beautifully created battle scene. With its beautiful floating lights gliding across the sealing that glowed at such an intensity that it matched the glowing moon.

Pulling the doors open revealed to Mors's ears the bustling sounds of hollering that was unheard of from the outside. Shouts rang out as people ran around in a seemingly chaotic fashion to panels and stands. There was so much noise that Mors almost didn't hear Jarreld saying, "Let's head over there," before quickly pointing over to an empty counter near the back.

Holding on to Mors's arm, Jarreld quickly took them through the dense crowds that were talking about so many things. But picking up on small portions of it, Mors heard about how the monster horde had forced an emergency commission from the association, which was highly lucrative. Everyone seemed keen to hear about this commission, as the air was shuddering in excitement.

And as they were making it through the crowds, it seemed like the wall to the building let in a lot of air as Mors could feel the outside wind inside the building. But it was then, as Mors was being pulled by Jarreld, that Mors finally thought, 'Oh, it's the ghosts,' as he felt the urge to facepalm himself.

But he also felt better knowing that the ghosts were still looking around and out for him without him even getting to meet all of them. He had met two of the five ghosts that he had around with him, and Mors wondered when he would be able to meet the rest.

Breaching through the tide that was this crowd, Mors and Jerrald finally made it through the crowd. But as they reached their destination, they began to hear a large commission behind them that they decided to ignore in their tiredness. So looking at the clerk there, Jerrald exasperatedly said, "I need to file a monster encounter invoice for part extraction and a larger expedition."

Quickly deciding to ignore the topic, Mors looked back at the crowd. He found that he could actually see the five red blobs moving around now. It seems like they couldn't hide in here for some strange reason. And from this distance, Mors could make out some of their details.

One was a foggy red that Mors knew was Genn, one was crystal clear red, and one was an even deeper shade of crimson red. Then one was foggy red with blue streaks, and the final ghost was crystal clear red on the outside with a weird murky purple on the inside. Mors recognized the crystal clear red one as the one hovering over the odd death leaf herb he used, but the others were entirely new to him. Well, besides Genn, cause who could forget about him.

As they were hovering and zipping around the place, Mors decided it was best to just watch them look around while listening in on Jerrald's conversation. Even though Mors knew it was terrible to do, he needed to know what was going on since his graveyard was out there. As he was listening in, Mors learned that there were supposed to be a lot of monsters coming out. Like a lot, a lot.

From what Jerrald said, Hill trolls come in big packs and communities. Another added bonus was they would hunt in large clusters of at least 80 or more. Mors couldn't even imagine how terrible it would be to come across those 80 trolls. He probably loses his sense of reality coming face to face with that. He almost freaked out but stopped when he noticed a ghost blob he knew was Genn coming over.

Opening his mouth to speak to Genn, he was cut short by Genn's voice saying, "Don't speak. They can't hear me nor see me or the rest. Firstly calm down. This isn't actually that many. It's just a quick little commission by the association. So calm down, and after you leave this place, we can head over to my sister's house… I hope she is fine…."

Feeling relief at the fact that these numbers were standard, Mors quickly remembered his original purpose for coming to town…. It had been a wild night. But sadly for poor Mors, he didn't know that Genn lied to calm down Mors from a public freak out, and internally he was very much worrying.
