Chapter 24 - Selene rolling on the bed

Ah!!!!!!

Selene was once again rolling in her room at midnight hour.

Visions of what happened earlier today kept flashing in her mind, making her want to end herself then and there.

I feel happy, but... But! It had to be Dragon of all people.....

Selene was glad that she was able to share some of her pent up burden that plagued her past life, but confiding and crying in front of her life rival made her stomach churn.

I was an idiot thinking I could pull through that event....

Her pride and overconfidence got in the way and prevented her from asking for help. She just wanted to do her part properly in their deal.

At the same time she did agree to work together which defeats the purpose of their vow.

"Ahhh!" Selene messes her hair in frustration.

She began rolling on her bed again

"Ugh, everytime I imagine his smug face, it pisses me the hell off"

She stopped rolling and sat up from her bed, after a brief moment when Theo hugged him resurfaced.

"He can be nice as well... sometimes..." Selene said while squeezing her pillow

BUT!

"That doesn't mean he has the right to be such an a*shole!"

Selene stood up on her bed and threw the pillow on the bed. Her commotion unexpectedly caused someone to notice.

Knock* Knock*

"Selene, is everything fine?"

It was her brother, Adrean, worried about her sister, thinking that she might have a problem that needs to be dealt with.

Selene realizing the ruckus she made got embarrassed, but quickly replied to ease her brother's worries.

"I-I'm sorry brother I was just playing with Cookie!"

"Ok, but go to sleep Selene, it's late, you don't want to be tired for tomorrow's journey back home."

After a few more seconds of silence as she waited for her brother to go back to his room, Selene threw herself back to her bed with a big sigh.

"Sigh, It feels bad lying to my brother but my dignity comes first. It's Theo's fault anyways"

Yes, everything's Theo's fault.

Selene started rolling on her bed yet again, as she recollected all the memories of Theo faulting her.

It was his fault that she's always perpetually angry

It was his fault that she gets into trouble

Its also his fault for making me think and feel weird things.....

After recollecting all the annoying memories she had with Theo, she inevitably stumbled and resurfaced the pleasant memories she had with him.

..... This is why his a d*ckhead.. One second, his the biggest a*shole of the century and another second his all considerate and kind..... Choose f*cker.....

Selene grumbled as she took the pillow near her and squeezed it tightly.

"Who cares about Theo!"

I should just focus on the future more than that stupid idiot.

After throwing her pillow across the room, Selene stared at the ceiling before closing her eyes.

"A lot has happened and it's only just the beginning"

She woke up as Selene, obviously believing she was dreaming, but she had to resign to her fate after a day of trying multiple methods to waking up from her dream

She fell in despair that night, thinking that she had to go through the world's disasters by herself as Selene who was extremely weak at the start compared to the other main characters.

She felt a little better that she was at least married off to a decent guy, Theodore Ignatius. She was fond of his straightforward and righteous character, akin to the typical knight of justice. He also treasured people who he was close to, which was a bigger plus in her opinion

After further deliberation, she thought that she might as well try and save people who she was close to and people she was supposed or meant to be close to. She would try to save as many people as possible with the knowledge she remembered from the game.

She's one of the top players after all, a hailed genius of her last family.

Her world suddenly stopped for a split second after seeing the face of Theo. She with her entire being, as if fate was telling her, that the person she was looking at was Tank Dragon or Dragon for short.

Despite her display of anger, she was overflowing with happiness inside. She had someone she could work with and it got busy from then on.

All the knowledge in the game was in line with reality and all the events that took place, took place. There were some changes from the game but everything felt natural, except for the heart sigil which she still believes to be embarrassing.

Now that Theo or Dragon was here to help her, she desired to change the world's fate completely.

An ending where they save people who are meant to die, including themselves

An ending where everyone she cared about was happy

An ending where she could stand proud and see the world celebrating its victory over the crisis that came.

However doubt still lingered deep within her. Her past trauma haunted her. She questioned if her efforts would really come into fruition.

Selene was doubting herself if she could succeed... wondering if she could actually pull off the perfect ending she envisioned.

The ending where the world wasn't in the brink of extinction

Where a world where billions of people dying

And a world where despair lingered in every heart of man...

Selene burrowed herself into her pillow.

I couldn't even be useful in my past life.... How can I even be useful in this life....

She was actually thankful to the person or people who sent her to Alethea, though without her consent.

Her past life was all but lovely, she was drowning in despair unable to escape the clutches of her family.

But here? She had a family that cared for her. A family that loved her the way she is, despite the imperfections she had and the burdens she gave.

She wanted to give the perfect ending for them. Even if she had gone through the depths of hell, she would strive for it, no matter what.

Selene resolved herself to create the ending that everyone deserves.

Zap!*

"...!"

This feeling.... it's the same as before...

What Selene meant was the feeling she felt when they fought Spartacus in his last unexpected phase.

Resonance.....

They knew the ability they received during their fight with Spartacus. Selene and Theo didn't know the exact effects of the skill. It was a skill that never appeared in the game before. It was one of the locked skills in the heart sigils.

That concluded that it unlocked and activated when their feelings of desperation were at its peak.

They still couldn't grasp the real use of the skill. They've experimented and tried multiple times to activate it by calling out its name but it never showed any effects.

They also didn't have a lot of time to try out more things to activate the skill because they just defeated the Red Beast a few days ago and there was also the preparation for her birthday.

The skill helped them break through their Tiers so it was most definitely a skill worth learning more about.

If only they could figure out how to activate it....

It doesn't feel as strong, but I can feel Theo wants to say something to me....

It was faint, but she felt it. She was confident that It was most definitely Resonance.

Selene

Theo

Selene

Theo

Selene

Selene sat up from her bed with a smile on her face

Theo

< It activates when both of us have the same strong desire and feeling for something> Selene

Theo

Both of them nodded in unison after coming into conclusion, which also activated the skill again, giving both a wave of motivation that the other emitted from their connection.

Theo

Selene

Theo

Both of them laughed in unison, believing that their RPG gamer mindset will never disappear in this current life as well.

They again found themselves facing a wall to the information that they wanted and potentially even might need.

Again, they nodded while putting off their discussion about the skill for next time.

Theo

Selene

Selene got up from her bed and went towards her balcony.

Wait! My hair!

Selene hurriedly went back into her room to grab her brush to straighten her messed up hair.

She looked at the mirror one last time and smiled

Perfect!

She rushed out to the balcony and jumped down to the garden to meet Theo.

After the Resonance activated, she knew that Theo was definitely sharing the same opinion as she was, giving her a boost of happiness and excitement.
