Nathaniel took a deep breathe, pouring both his body and spirit into everything he was going to do next. He might not stand a chance against Inferno talk less about five Elementals in a trained body like inferno's. The outcome of the battle was already decided but he wasn't going down without a fight.
He bared his chest, letting the entire heat and nature hit his skin. He was bonding with his environment and soon, he'd be aware of everything around him.
Inferno lurched forward already seeing through Nathaniel's plan. He wasn't planning on giving him any time to do anything especially something that might aid him in this battle. Housing the power of five people was more exhausting than he had expected and soon, he would run out of energy to sustain the form he was in now. But in those remaining few minutes, he had to end this fight and quick. Any delay or waste of time might cost him.
With just a swipe of his hands, two blades of fire streamed towards Nathaniel incinerating everything in its path and cremating the remains of fallen soldiers in its way dead or alive.
Nathaniel built five boulders in front of him. With every boulder than went down the lethality and speed of the flames decreased until it was completely depleted.
A clever idea, creating numerous boulders to reduce the attack potential and it's destructive capabilities instead of creating just one powerful one. His ingenious move had actually saved him now but how much longer would he last against these attacks. Every defense he put up costed him more energy and it wouldn't be long before he was completely exhausted.
Another attack came his way but he managed to dodge, saving his energy to block the next one that followed it. Gradually, his boulder's were failing to do their work and he had to dodge immediately after defending.
Even though the attacks were still as powerful, their speed had reduced drastically which also meant that their producer was gradually depleting.
Inferno fell to his knees while coughing blood on the ground. He had miscalculated his time and had over laboured his body. His head was throbbing and his flames were burning out. Soon he'd just be an ordinary man left at the mercy of his adversary. He rose up with his eyes locked with his already exhausted enemy. He would finish things off with this last attack even if he was to die doing it.
He'd rather die than loose this fight to a mere man who didn't even have a boost. His intelligence and training had brought him this far even against someone he'd normally not stand a chance against. But now, his grace had run out. No matter what he did, there was no escaping this next attack, not in his current condition.
He clapped his hands together, sliding his legs apart to make an annular ring of fire around himself. Just as it seemed his flames were dwindling, they exploded with power the color gradually turning into purple as it burnt around his body. The power that emnated from him was enough to cripple a casual individual. His bloodlust lingered around the air bringing the weak to their knees.
Two helical rings grew from his hands twirling around him slowly with their speed gradually increasing. He was conjuring up a turnado of fire and it wasn't looking very friendly. With a one last scream and outburst of flames, he released the fully matured chaos upon Nathaniel falling to his knees as his flames completely died out.
Dodging wasn't even an option, he was already weakened. At his best speed at the moment, he wouldn't make it time. The best option was to block with all he had in him and if that wasn't enough, he'd happily embrace his own death knowing that Inferno was also as good as dead in his own condition. He would never be able to last two minutes against even the weakest Elemental in the room at the moment.
Pouring the remains of his energy into the earth, he grew his biggest boulder yet. Towering over the already destroyed building, it's thickness that of a fully completed house. He closed his eyes praying inwardly that his boulder survived this attack even though deep down he knew it wasn't feasible.
He fell to his knees on the floor of his final creation, a smile on his face as he thought of the joy of reuniting with his friend. He was going to tell him all about his daughter how she had grown to be a decent woman who never lost the will to live even after everything that had happened to her. She was a fighter just like he was.
Just as the raging tornado had reached his boulder, shattering it as if it hadn't existed, he felt a presence behind him, this familiar presence. He would recognize it anywhere. The kindness in the aura, care and pureness that filled the air. He couldn't tell why or how, but suddenly he felt the gush of energy in his veins. Without wasting a mere second, he dug his hands into the earth creating another wall bigger than the first.
Inferno's eyes widened in shock, the expression on his face telling of the fear that had just crept into his body. It was simply impossible, 'Nathaniel should have been out of energy' He thought just before it also hit him. The familiarity in the environment. He was here, invisible but sure. Xavier.
He watched as his tornado of flames did it's best but failed at the might and power of the two mountains it fought against.
The entire place around them had been turned to nothing but ash. The second boulder was already crumbling barely withstanding the power of the insane man by only a slim chance.
Nathaniel staggered out from the the boulder's protection slowly walking out it's range just before it collapsed.
"I told you didn't I? Your evil days ends here" He managed to vocalize while struggling to keep himself up his feet.
Inferno rose, his face red with anger as his scream filled the air. Dawn was already breaking, their fight had lasted all night, this was his longest but he had another trick up his sleeve. His screams had suddenly turned into devilish cackles as he rose to his feet a fireball slowly but surely building up inside his palms.
"Did you think I'd ever walk into a battle unprepared? Only a fool would give up all he had in a fight against numerous enemies. I'd already seen the outcome of this battle and no matter what you do, you cannot escape reality, and death is your reality." He finished before rushing towards the already falling Nathaniel. The bastard had reserved strength and just merely used up the power he got from the four Elementals in him but not his.
He had lived long enough anyways. He'd leave the fate of every elemental around the world in the hands of the upcoming generation.
The sudden gust of flames that sped past him and countered inferno's attack had suddenly woken him up again.
This time he could see his savior, it was none other than inferno's own son. Edmund.
Promptly acting, Edmund kicked the already weakened Nathaniel out of range before raising a fire pillar to block the attack that approached him.
He apologized to the now coughing man from the corner of his eyes. It wasn't intentional but it was the only way to save them both without any serious injuries.
"Edmund, you'd dare stand against me? I wouldn't want to kill my own son so I'll offer you once more, switch sides now and join me" Inferno offered his hands outstretched waiting for his son to make his approach but it wasn't looking possible. "Fine, then perish alongside with your friends" Inferno yelled sending balls of fire towards his son.
Edmund took a deep breathe before surging into battle. He kept his calm and sanity trying not to overdo anything or act on his own emotion. This time around he wasn't training or fighting alongside his father, he was determined to end inferno's life just as his father was determined to end his. He wasn't fighting against his father at the moment. All he saw was a beast who had escaped from hell and needed banishing before it caused any more havoc.
He cut through the fireballs with his father's technique. He had wrapped his weapon also in flames which made it easy to counter any firebased attack. Their fight had given the entire scenery a more appealing color as blue and red fire clashed together.
Nathaniel watched as the two battled, this wasn't a normal fight, it held emotions and passion behind it. A son going up against his father not minding what he would loose all for the sake for those he believed in. That was firm resolve, something rare to see these days. The younger generation was always full of surprises.
