Meanwhile, all this while, Sam was lost in a dark world of formlessness. He couldn't see anything around him but could hear voices all around him. They kept screaming.
"DON'T LEAVE US! PLEASE HELP US!"
Then Sam felt as though he were being carried upwards by the wind. And then a bright light appeared so suddenly, it was as if Sam had just opened his eyes. He found himself standing outside a huge golden wall with a huge Golden Gate. There seemed to be no solid ground but the place where the ground was supposed to be was covered with Clouds. The surroundings were so colourful, they made the environment of Earth pale in comparison.
At the Gate, a person stood holding two gigantic keys. The person was cloaked in white linen and had a golden halo that looked like beams of light flowing in different directions above his head. He had a very long list in his hands and Sam could not see his face.
Sam walked to him and asked him.
"Please Sir, may you be so kind as to tell me where I am?"
"As a matter of fact I will" he replied.
"How did I get here? The last thing I remember was that I was falling, a moment of great pain and this. I can't possibly be dead now can I?" Sam asked.
"As a matter of fact, you are and this is the third time now you have died and come here, more times than any human ever has but I am afraid that this time you cannot return for your corporeal body has been destroyed" the man or spirit said.
"Am I in Heaven? And are you St. Peter?" Sam asked.
"You ask too many unnecessary questions! Let's just say that you have been granted eternal rest, congratulations!" the man said.
Suddenly, another figure slowly materialized to form a muscular manly figure with white feathery wings, wearing armour and bearing a fiery sword.
"Archangel Michael, Prince Of The Heavenly Army, it is about time you arrived" the man said.
"I'm sorry to be late St. Peter but there were a few demons I had to send back to Hell. They managed to break through the South Gate" Michael replied.
He looked very young and extremely handsome with blonde curly hair.
"As you are a Guardian as well, I assign you to take care of this newcomer" St Peter pointed to Sam.
Michael took one look at Sam and jumped back.
"Whoa!" he exclaimed. "Another neutral? We've had trouble with them before. They are extremely dangerous. What is this one doing in Heaven?" Michael asked.
"Heaven?! Whoa whoa whoa! You're trying to tell me that I am in Heaven?" Sam asked.
"You're not supposed to be here anyway" Michael said as he lifted his sword.
His eyes began to glow fiery red. He was nearly about to strike Sam when St Peter stopped him.
"Michael. Yes, he is a neutral but he has chosen to be a Guardian of the Light and he is also this generation's Guardian Of Earth".
Michael hesitated and then he put his sword in its sheath and his flaming eyes stopped glowing.
"Whoa whoa, neutrals? Guardians Of Light? What's this all about?!" Sam asked.
Michael looked at St Peter in surprise.
"He doesn't know what he is?" he asked.
"Please don't tell me that I'm not human" Sam pleaded.
Michael eyed him from the corner of his eyes and said.
"You're human all right. You're just something quite…how to put it…unnatural?"
"How unnatural am I? I mean I'm human. These gifts, these powers were endowed upon me" Sam said in puzzlement.
"No they weren't. You were born with them" Michael said.
"Whoa! Born with them?! It's not like my parents…" Sam was saying when Michael interrupted.
"Yes they were. They had the greatest powers the world has ever known. Besides isn't being unnatural enough for you?" Michael asked.
"You still haven't explained what a neutral is" Sam said.
"I can't believe you couldn't tell the difference between yourself and the others. You have limitless power. You have been able to return to earth twice despite being dead. You didn't die when hit by hellfire…" Michael was saying when Sam interrupted.
"Hellfire?" Sam asked in puzzlement.
"Revilexus is hellfire. Your archenemy just configured it to fit the body he is holding" Michael said.
"My archenemy?" Sam asked.
"You still haven't got what a neutral is?" Michael asked.
Sam shook his head.
"Well I will begin by telling you about the first rule" Michael said.
"The first rule?" Sam asked in puzzlement.
Then Michael began to explain further.
"The first rule was created on the first day of Earth" Michael said.
"I still don't understand" Sam said.
Michael's eyes began to glow fiery again as he narrated;
"And God commanded, let there be light and light appeared. God separated the light from the darkness and he named the light 'Day' and the darkness 'Night'. And then God commanded the two elements never to merge. This was the first rule" Michael explained.
"But I don't understand what that has got to do with me" Sam said.
"Ten thousand years ago…" Michael began to narrate.
"Oh boy" Sam thought in his head.
He was getting tired of listening to ancient tales.
"What was that Sam?" Michael questioned because he knew what was going on in Sam's mind.
"What I meant was…uh…um…this is going to be good" Sam said.
Michael looked intently at him for a while and continued.
"Phew, that was close" Sam thought.
Michael continued.
"Ten thousand years ago, a Guardian Of Light and a Darkcrawler broke the first rule. They came together and had a child. This child had broken the balance. He belonged to both the light and darkness and yet belonged to neither. This child was a NEUTRAL!" Michael explained.
"I still don't understand. My Dad and Mom are both Guardians Of Light, none are evil therefore I don't understand how I can be a Neutral" Sam said in a troubled tone. "How can this be?" he wondered.
"It is not my place to answer those questions but I can tell you this. You are the one thing that stands between Good and Evil, the Natural and the Supernatural. Be careful, do not fall into the hands of evil" Michael said. "You will learn all you need to know but first you have to discover yourself" Michael said.
"What do you mean?" Sam asked.
"This!" Michael said and raised a golden pendant to show to Sam.
The pendant was shaped in the form of a dragon, a golden dragon.
"What is it?" Sam asked.
"It is who you are" Michael replied. "It is from your past. It is not my place to explain what it is but I can tell you this, it is an emblem of great power" Michael said.
Sam looked at the pendant and then he touched the Golden Dragon. Instantly, he felt a warm sensation on his right shoulder. He lifted his sleeve and looked at his shoulder. There was a faint glow on his shoulder and Sam saw the outline of a figure. When the glow disappeared, Sam saw the mark of a Golden Dragon on his shoulder.
"What does this mean?" Sam asked.
"Do you realize how many times you have asked that question?" Peter asked.
"Listen carefully, that child was the only child, he was the only Neutral Child and was therefore given all the powers of Light and Darkness. We tried to teach him to use his abilities for good but he was fascinated with the powers of darkness. He turned evil and fought everything good. He conquered all who dared to oppose him. When all hope seemed lost, a pair of twins surfaced from nowhere. They too were neutrals but they fought for the light and opposed the will of the Gryphon" Michael said.
"Gryphon?" Sam asked.
"The name used to represent the Dark Neutral. He had the emblem of the Gryphon. One of the twins had always fought for the Light. The other twin once fought for the darkness but later joined the Light" Michael explained.
"Why the change?" Sam asked.
"Love. His brother showed him great love. Love so great it destroyed the evil in him. Finally united, the brothers, the Golden Dragon and the Crimson Phoenix fought the Gryphon. They were powerful but nowhere nearly as powerful as the Gryphon. They fought and fought but were repeatedly beaten by the Gryphon and when all hope seemed lost, the twins did something no one thought was possible" Michael narrated.
"What?" Sam asked.
"They combined. The Dragon and the Phoenix combined and out of this combination, they created the Neutral Gryphon. They were already Neutrals and yet they created something much more Neutral than themselves. The Neutral Gryphon was a double Neutral. The Dark Gryphon had no chance. It was banished to the underworld but before it disappeared, it swore to return" Michael concluded his story.
"What has that got to do with me?" Sam asked.
"After the defeat of the Dark Gryphon, the brothers disappeared and were never seen again. Some say they died, others say they roamed the Earth seeking fame but they said they would return" Michael said.
"Yeah, but what has that got to do with me?" Sam asked again.
"Your father might have the answer. Your parents know the truth. Only they have the power to reveal the truth to you. But I can tell you that this mark was on your shoulder on the day you were born. To protect you from the darkness, your parents entrusted your pendant to me to keep till you were old enough. As you grew older and more ordinary, the mark grew fainter till it altogether ceased to exist. I don't know about your parents but I think you are ready, Golden Dragon!" Michael said and placed the pendant around Sam's neck.
"Even with this it's not like I'll ever discover the truth and this means I'll have to wait another fifty years to discover the truth. I can't return to Earth, my corporeal body has been destroyed" Sam said in confusion.
Michael laughed.
"Sam, Sam, Sam, don't you know that a dragon can never be destroyed by fire?" Michael said with a smile.
"You mean it's…!" Sam said in excitement.
Michael nodded.
"You mean I…?!" Sam exclaimed.
"Yes Sam, you can return to Earth but I'm afraid that if you die again you'll never be allowed to return to Earth till Judgement Day" Michael teased.
"So how exactly do I go back?" Sam asked.
"The same way you came here" Michael waved his hand over the clouds they stood on and they parted.
Slowly, the white colour of the clouds turned red until Sam could see lava right below the clouds. Sam gulped.
"That was not a pleasurable experience" he said.
"You'll find it quite soothing now besides…I've always known you as one who liked to make a dramatic entrance" Michael said and winked.
"If you knew me so well where did the 'Whoa!! Another Neutral? We've had trouble with them before, THEY ARE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS!' come from?" Sam imitated Michael putting an exaggerated emphasis on the last few words.
"You can call me a hothead or whatever. That doesn't change the fact that you are a Neutral" Michael teased.
"Before you leave, there is someone who would like to speak with you" Michael said.
Almost immediately, a dragon twice as huge as Saurian appeared.
"Edaphrogon?" Sam said in surprise.
"When you get to Earth, tell my brothers that I am always with them" he said to Sam.
Trix too slowly appeared and stood behind Edaphrogon. Trix waved his hands at another portion of the clouds and they parted to reveal a screen. The screen materialized out of thin air and Sam felt as though he could fall right through it. Images began to appear in the screen. Sam saw images of dinosaurs being killed, chained, used as slaves, images of suffering dinosaurs. Sam felt another presence behind him and turned around. What he saw nearly killed him. Tyrannosaurus Rexus was standing right behind him. There was something different about this T-Rexus. Sam noticed that T-Rexus was smiling kindly.
"I am the true T-Rexus. The one persecuting my people on earth is an imposter. Free my people Sam, save them from evil" T-Rexus said.
"I will" Sam promised.
When Sam looked at Trix again, he noticed that another Dinosaur was standing close to Trix. Sam noticed that the dinosaur had feminine features.
"The princess?" Sam asked.
Trix nodded.
"I'm glad you're finally together" Sam said.
"Oh, and one more thing Sam, tell Saurian never to forget the stories I always told him about Gon" Edaphrogon said.
"I'll let him know" Sam said and then he dived right into the lava looking cloud.
