Chapter 3 - Fight Her Own Battle

Dracaena Vantoase POV

This pervert! During the whole meal, he was staring at me. I don't know his intentions, but I must keep my distance from him. I have to ask grandma when she returns from her trip. Ah! Let's get back to work.

"Drake?" I called out to him through the intercom. We need to go and check the materials before Russel's visit. We made a successful deal yesterday, and he has agreed to the contract term without fuss. I thought he would point out many faults, but I was wrong.

"Yes, Ma'am." Drake dramatically bowed to me. I want to smash that sly smile on his face.

"Ready the car. We have to go to the warehouse to check the products." I ordered and assembled the files on my table.

"Grab a coffee for me on the way to the warehouse," I said while shaking my coffee cup. I am out of coffee- my engine. Only coffee could help me stay insane.

"As you say, your highness." Drake took a fancy detour to walk out of the office.

"Wait!" Drake tilted his head a little and rubbed his chin, looking like he was in deep thought.

"What?" He and his dramatic ways.

"What were the both of you talking about?" Thy sly gleam in his eyes told me everything. He is thinking about all the romantic scenarios. Gosh!

"We were talking business, you little punk!" I showed my fist to him. I am tired of his weird imagination.

"Dee, I am a man and could tell the look in the eyes of the other man." Drake has that serious look on his face. Come on, man! We met for the first time. I don't believe in love at first sight.

"We are getting late." I have to invest him in work to stop him from blabbering.

"Ok." Thankfully, it worked, and he left the office with a tsk.

Sometimes, I think Grandma and Drake are hiding something from me. I am fully aware it has something to do with my parents and I swear I will find it sooner or later.

After a silent journey, we arrived at the warehouse only to see a destructive sight. What the fuck! Where are the goods? Why are the boxes ripped open?

"Where is the in charge of this place? Bring him to me, right now!" I ordered one of the workers who started trembling. It seems like I have been way too lenient with them.

"Hey, Dee, calm down." Drake rubbed my back, but it wasn't going to work.

"Calm down my ass! Tomorrow Russel is going to visit here and what should we show him? This?" I pointed to the messed-up cement and bricks. All the irons and rods were disfigured. I clenched my fists to control my anger. There is a ball of fire in my stomach and it is about to burst.

"Dee, please control yourself. You are losing control." Drake side-hugged me and rubbed my arms to soothe the anger in me.

"I don't think I can control it, Drake. There is a voice in my head screaming for my help. Tell me! What is happening to me?" I dug my nails deep into his arms. I want to stop, but this intense pain is making me insane.

"Let me take you home. Leave the rest to me. I guess you are not taking the medicines gramps has left for you." Yeah! This is the reason. I should not be mean to myself. I don't know what disease I have, but whatever this is- it is not simple. Gramps doesn't allow me to visit any doctor.

"Fine. I'll trust you with this." My body doesn't have the strength to bicker with him. I should just go home and retire for the day.

"Bring the surveillance and replace everything within 2 hours," Drake warns the person responsible for this warehouse.

Drake's POV

I know Dee would never believe in love at first sight. She has lived a hard life from a young age. I have seen her going through harsh rain. The success she now has is what she deserves. She deserves more than this. Russel Deniro is a dangerous buddy, but he has no scandalous past. At least I can rest assured he would be loyal to Dee.

Does she think, I don't know why she diverted the topic of her love life? Ha! Does she think I am still that gullible little Drake? Dream on! I only wish for her to live a happy life and stay away from those creatures. I hope the truth of her identity will remain hidden for eternity. Once the truth is out in the light, the world will change either for evil or good, but it won't do any good to Dee.

The thing I was most afraid of is now happening. She should not have any contact with those creatures. Russel is also one of them. He had a unique smell on him. He is not a simple one. At this time, only one person can help Dee.

"Hello!" She is the only hope to save Dee.

"Oh my, my! Look who is calling me today." She is always this cheerful.

"Gramps, Dee forgot to take her medicines and she was ready to burn the whole warehouse." It is not the right time for me to joke around. She is Dee's only family and the only person whom I can trust.

"What did you say? That little brat! I left her for a few days, and she is already so reckless." Gramps sound relaxed.

"She had a meeting with the Deniro empire's president. I smelled his scent. He is a werewolf. After meeting with him, she is acting differently." When talking about Dee, I should be truthful to gramps.

"I am taking the earliest flight for tomorrow morning. Till that, stay by her side." Gramps sound serious all of a sudden.

"Is something off, gramps?" There is something she is trying to hide from me.

"Drake, my grandson, it is time for Dee to fight her own battle." Gramps sighed on the other end of the phone.

"You mean?" I gasped.

"Yes!"
