Chapter 11 - Another Dimension

She walked hastily through the hallway her overflowing garments swept through the floor only stopping at a statue, the guards were around the vicinity.

"Hey you two take a walk." She ordered as she watched them bow and leave quickly peeping around to her satisfaction. She pushed a metallic button beneath the statue it moved to the side slowly revealing a passageway.

She rushed in before it closed reflexively strolling down the dark passageway, another little door creaked opened.

"Why are you here instead of Farkas?" She questioned in an authoritative tone as she made her way to a throne like chair upholstered with dragon artifacts in a grand ancient room.

"My Lord needs him for some serious work." An ugly dragdemo replied huskily.

She settled in the seat calmly adjusting her garment.

"I need to speak with Farkus or your dear Lord you have no use to me get lost." She snapped twisting her fingers the dragdemo fell to the ground, it yawled in torture rolling she chanted inaudible spells.

The dragdemo was soon engulfed in a consuming fire going up in flames.

*Amber's POV*

I blinked my eyes open my brain was still fuzzy I developed a splitting headache instantly.I knew I was sitting on the bare ground as I felt the earth beneath with my hands but where have I landed? I thought helplessly.

I looked around me trying to move, my head banged against an iron above me A cage? I was in a cage like an animal the only difference is I hadn't been bounded I cried in regret I should have listened to Loel's warnings but now it was too late to rue my mistakes I needed to get out of here.

I crawled to the cage door pulling it in and out to check if it's been locked luckily it wasn't.I pushed it open

Maybe no one intended to bind me in there in the first place, was I still in The Dream Empire? Did Loel save me from the tunnel? These questions ran through my consciousness.

I came out freed of the small space I had been in.

I breathed in at least I had successfully made my way out of the dark cage, I scanned the environs discovering I was inside a dimly lighted cave all along.

A cave? Judging by the way the few lanterns were placed by the corners it seemed someone lived here.

I neared a lantern feeling the heat, it burned vigorously within like it had just been lighted recently.

I walked down in uncertainty I was damn sure there'd be an entrance to the cave I hurried in my steps almost running just as I figured out an opening came into view.

As I reached the entry the ray of sunlight blinded my vision I could barely hold my gaze up, I must be adapting to the brightness since I've been put away from it for a while.I blocked my eyes with my right hand from the sun observing the area.

The landscape was a grassland, my shoes had been taken off I realized now that I thought of It, probably it fell off in the tunnel.

This couldn't be the Dream Empire there were more grasses than trees I scrutinized my surroundings, soon I was staring at a clean river few distance away.

Thank goodness my throat really needed water I thought happily.

I hopped towards it excitedly, scooping the water in my hands it turned blue than how it had looked from afar.

Is this safe to drink? I asked myself but I gulped it down anyway the least I could get was a belly ache more preferable to thirst.

I stopped to take in my reflection in the water, my golden hair had curled in tangles, dirt plastered on my face all the ornaments on me had disappeared, my pretty gown was tattered only the thick cotton of the fabric saved me from being naked.

I still looked beautiful though

"What has become of you Amber Daves?" I mumbled in frustration.

I splattered the water on my face cleaning out the filth, placing the tip of my dress into the river I tried to wash off the stench.

Jubilation sound of drumming dancing and singing oozed into my ears, I stood up to listen more attentively.

People lived here? I thought expectantly

I moved through a bushy path it got louder, I strode calculating my steps in spite of that I stumbled on a buried stone falling into a grassy area.

The beating of drums seemed closer, I peeked from where I had slumped through the leaves and behold downhill I saw an array of medium sized Elves they frolicked around joyfully in their small village made up of beautiful mud houses.

I watched in astonishment, I had never imagined I would be opportune to see these creatures in reality I thought they only existed in books.

They singed and played all kinds of tiny instruments rejoicing,

"What are they so happy about." I muttered amused

"I also don't know." A low pitched voice replied sharply in my ear.

I turned swiftly in shock to look for the source of the voice Instead a huge blow landed on my head my whole body fizzled out, the image of the voice blurred in my visuals, my hands searched for support rather I fell backwards.

I heard the voice and another one.

"How did she escape Elwin? You're so silly let's get her back before the boss shows up." The voice said

"I forgot to tie her up yes let's hurry." The other voice responded.

I felt my body being pulled, then I blacked out.

I awoken to the chattering of the creatures assembled in a field, opening my eyes more widely I gaped at the multitudes of Elves gathered around.

I stared at them fascinated within me, I was placed in that same cage I had been inside the cave.

What did they plan to do with a caged human? Half of them looked feisty and scary they had wings too as they flew about.

I panicked as they didn't seem to be friendly like in the books weren't Elves supposed to be small creatures? How did they become oversized? I reckoned it'll be more wiser to speak up they might have misunderstood my presence in their world.

"Hi I'm Amber I haven't come here to harm anyone of you in fact I'm totally glad to meet you all in person." I said in a loud cheerful voice rid of fear they only murmured noisily.

An Elf moved forward holding a tiny spear in one of his hands the crowd retreated.

Turning to them he raised his free arm, the whole area quietened.

He could be the leader or something I guessed.

He motioned for few others to come along, they marched to him obediently a huge brazier filled with hot coals was brought in few minutes later as they dragged it forcefully onto a platform.

Were they going to burn me? I thought as adrenaline rushed through my spines.

"Please don't kill me I haven't done anything wrong." I didn't know exactly why I pleaded even if I had not gotten any explanation as to the reason I had been held captive.

The boss Elf glanced at me nonchalantly, he turned back to the others ordering them inaudibly.

They hurried towards me with burning coals

"Don't hurt me I beg of you I'm Princess Amber of the Mist Universe the Chosen One I can be of help to you." I shouted in desperation, not hesitating to claim the title that I had detested from the onset.

As though they were deaf, the brazier was carried onto where I had been caged.

Feeling the hotness from the coal tears welled up in my eyes, I thought of Loel's protection which I had taken for granted.

"Stop!!!! A deep authoritative voice from the crowd commanded.

The Elves paused in their activity searching for the daring being, the crowd divided simultaneously.

A dwarfed green creature walked in between the Elfs boldly.

A Troll???
