Chapter 3 - Detective

The kings burial took a whole day and almost every citizen was supposed to be there. I was tired as I walked into my room and slumped on my little rocking chair that sat right in front of my window. I looked at my ring and slipped it off, my eyes flared flared to blue from the surge of power. I always enjoyed this, using my powers and not always confining it.

With the ring I always felt like some part of me was locked up but without it I felt like a free spirit and I could do anything I wanted and there was a time I was a free spirit. When I was sixteen and had moved to the Rein forest to live with my grandmother. That's when I met Axel and fell in love but young love never lasts right?

That's what my brother told me when I came back to the castle with a broken heart but that time with him had been the most amazing time of my life. I felt happy and free, he made me feel that.

"Princess?" I dropped the ring and turned to look at Chance who had scared the hell out of me.

"Stop creeping up on me" my blue eyes looked at his calm ones. He lay on my bed making himself comfortable.

"It's fun and please put on your ring, I already feel as if am burning" due to his dreams he was the only one who endured the wrath of my powers. Chance was a mystery in the castle, no one but my dead father knew his history only that he was found outside my father's room one night and he was a foreteller.

I slipped my ring on. "You find joy in my suffering?"

"Certainly, what do you plan on doing now because things aren't on the right side for you" I had to keep being reminded how things weren't good but she would not mind it.

"Neither are you" I muttered under my breath joining him on the bed.

"I'll just threaten them with my visions and say am the only one who can help them with the solution" manipulation was his best power. He was younger than me with an year, am twenty two.

"I want to find my father's killer"

"Isn't the judicial court dealing with that but I will help you since none of their investigations have ever bore any fruit" that's why she loved, he was young but had the greatest of minds, he was like a wise old man trapped inside the mind of a boy.

"Thankyou, did you see anything to show who his killer was? In your dreams I mean"

"No I only saw the Knives Of Asher covered in blood and I knew what that meant since that's the only weapon that could kill him" all fayries had that one weapon that could kill them, just one that was, according to the books that my father had brought me to read when I was younger about Fayrie, powerful enough to kill a Moonlight Fayrie. Being a princess I learned everything about humans and everything about humans plus about The Immortal Pearlers( beasts ruling the other nations) but not much details about them. And my kind too.

I didn't know anything about my weapon and what or where it was and that was one hell of a problem.

Chance continued, "if you want to find the killer first find the keepers of the Knives, they should know who they gave the knives to" he seemed to think for a while, "but those knives are not supposed to be given to just anyone but the king"

"We should go to Oregon if we want answers" it was better to start early with my detective duties before they started to send me away and mostly through an arranged loveless marriage.

"When?" Chance had always been adventurous so I understood his excitement at the time.

"After the Court session next week" she shuddered at the thought since there was nothing she feared more than those sessions.

They were always hell on wheels, fake smiles and hostile glares and looks from the members and now I was sure it was worse and they would not fake their smiles but their utter disgust and fear in me.

Will would protect me. That was my slogan and I was stupid since I was among the most powerful beings in Reinsas, I could threaten them too but I didn't want to give them a reason to creep up in my room after finding my weapon and slit my throat in the middle of the night. So for now I would trust in Will. After talking with Chance till late in the night I drank my night tea and retired to bed.

I couldn't stop wiping my sweaty palms on my dress, it was a black one so it wouldn't show. Will noting my anxiousness touched me shoulder squeezing it lightly in re-assurance.

"I will deal them stop worrying so much, they can't harm you or insult you when am there and when am not, okay?" I nodded but the worry was still there.

It wasn't very convincing especially the 'and when am not' part. Lloyd had already been too bold with her that other previous night so that part was false. But that small reassurance was enough for now. That's why I loved Will he was a good brother and he was always there although we weren't directly related.

"Okay" I replied breathily and we walked in all eyes on the King to be and the Princess of Reinsas while they stood in honor of the crown.
