Chapter 22 - CHAPTER 22 ANNA’S POINT OF VIEW

When I visited Kyle at his apartment, the first thing I noticed about him was that he looked so down. It's like the world is against him. Though Brandon is with him he still looks alone. I tried to ask him what was wrong but I got the same answer, 'I'm fine'.

I'm preparing now for the second-anniversary celebration of the café. I'm wearing a white high-neck knee-length dress with beads and sequences as a design of it on the chest part. While my hair is braided in a bun. I handed him an invitation when I visited him. I hope he comes.

I was checking my phone for Kyle's text when I heard a knock at the door. "Are you done?" It's Elaine in her white V-neck sleeveless dress. "Hm," I didn't know that I smiled bitterly at her.

"What's wrong?" She asked me with concern. "Oh, it's nothing. Let's go?" I just ignored her question. I don't want her to ask me further. Besides, I don't want my mood to ruin this celebration.

Not so long, the café's second-anniversary celebration started. George, who is the host of this program, is waiting for me outside the entrance. He is wearing a white tuxedo paired with mine. He looks handsome in this outfit. If he is only a man at heart, I'm sure he has many girlfriends now. I know for those who don't know about his true identity will surely fall over because of how handsome he is,

"Hello handsome," I teased him. "You looked beautiful too, Anna. If I were a man, I would ask you to marry me in this instance," we both laugh at his joke.

Later on, the ceremony started. I saw all the employees greet us with big smiles on their faces, they were all cheering and clapping happily. I hate this kind of social gathering but I'm willing to stay and spend the rest of the day with them every time I see these happy faces.

I'm busy waving my hand to my employees when I noticed a man at the back, raising his hand. He looked hesitant at first but when he smiled at me, I knew who he was. I waved my hands to him and returned the smile he gave me. George steps on the mini stage with a microphone in his hand.

"Thank you for coming today, everyone. We are pleased to welcome you all that have been with us for two years as well as those new to the Hometown Café. Now, may we call on Ms. Anna Black to give us at least a short speech," they all cheered once again. They chanted my name repeatedly to come up on stage. I hate it when many eyes are staring at me, I'm not comfortable at all.

But for the sake of this event, I will set aside all my worries and panic to make this event successful. "Hello everyone. Once again, I would like to thank you all for coming to this event. Not just for coming today but also for your hard work, passion, and trust in us. You are the biggest asset to our management. Let's keep up the good work and the good relationship with everyone. This celebration is for you all, I hope you'll like it. Enjoy the party everyone," I ended my mini-speech there.

I'm not a wordy person so that's the only words I can think of to cheer them up and to thank them. "Nice speech," Elaine said when I got down the stage.

"Heh! Thanks," I scratch the back of my neck for her compliment. "Did you know who I saw just now?" She asked me with her arms entangled on her back. This is her mannerism if she saw something or someone interesting.

I just raised my eyebrow at her. "He's here," I now know who she is talking about. She will never be this excited if it's not him. "Here," she handed me a plate full of cakes and ice creams. "What's this? They are too many for me," I complained. "Who told you that you're going to eat that alone? He's there," she points to the man standing beside the table alone. Lost in his thoughts. "Go, talk to him."

"What? You know I'm not ..." "Yea, you're not the type who makes the move first, I know that already. Just go, ok," she pushed me gently towards his table. I can't do anything but walk towards him because my hands feel numb and the cakes with the cups of ice cream are hard to balance.

"Hey!" I nudge his arm since my hands are full. "Hi!" he replied to me with an amused expression.

"You looked handsome in your outfit today," I tried to compliment him while putting down the plate in my hands. I'm not the kind of person to always compliment others' appearances because, in my eyes, we are equally beautiful in all aspects.

"Only for today? I think I'm always handsome every day," he said to me playfully. He is different now than the last time I saw him. He's full of energy to tell some lame jokes to me. I sneered at him playfully as my response. "Yeah, right," I rolled my eyes at him in disbelief.

"Hey! Eat this with me. I can't eat this all on my own," Elaine put too many sweets on my plate though it's all my favorite. I can't finish this on my own. "Are you not scared to be fat with all this sweet?" He picks up the fork I give to him.

"No, I don't care about my figure. All I care about is that I can eat all the food I want," I smiled at him, showing my teeth when he started laughing.

"What is it?" I looked at him confused. He took his phone from his pocket and asked me to smile again. I think there is something wrong. He will not laugh this hard like an idiot if there isn't one. I almost drained my face color when I saw the picture.

"Argh! Kyle Nicholas Smith, how dare you laugh at me instead of telling me that I have something on my teeth," I exclaimed angrily. I run to the restroom to wash it away, while he's still laughing out his life alone. After a while, I came back with a frown on my face. "What?" He asked innocently with a teasing smile.
