Chapter 39 - Dungeon clearing VIII

Lightning crashed down on Morgoth but the darkness about him surged forth and enveloped it, causing the energy to dissipate within.

"Damn it." Nathan cursed as he took a step back to catch his breath.

It hadn't been even up to three minutes since he clashed with Morgoth yet it felt like it had already been hours.

This was the result of Morgoth's aura slowly shaving away at his energy, tiring him out.

This was why it was so scary to face a higher-ranked figure that knew how to use aura well.

Even if they won't be able to suppress one immediately, it would only be a matter of time before the difference in levels caught up to their opponents.

Gritting his teeth, Nathan attempted to summon more lightning but Morgoth only shook his head.

It is useless. Your power is commendable but against me… you can only kneel

Boom

Morgoth's aura exploded, pushing Nathan back a few steps before he managed to stabilize himself.

"Tch, he's about to go all out," Nathan muttered, preparing to dodge the attack when he sensed something that caused him to pause.

Morgoth seemed to have noticed as well as he looked in the direction of what they had sensed.

Over there, Felix stood, all smiles with a glowing green sword, about to strike.

"You fool!" Nathan couldn't help but curse aloud as he realized what Felix was about to do, unfortunately, it was too late to go back.

Morgoth's eyes flickered before he aimed his great sword at Felix.

He seemed intent on taking the attack instead of dodging it.

Nathan was surprised by his actions and Felix couldn't help but feel triumphant within.

"Since you don't plan on dodging, that makes my work easier!" Felix declared as he swung the sword.

A green horizontal arc rushed toward Morgoth but the latter didn't bother himself as he casually swung his sword.

Imbued with no aura at all, Morgoth created a sword arc that rushed to collide with Felix's attack.

It was almost like he was trying to show Felix the difference between the two of them.

Of course, Felix was well aware of it.

From the beginning, he never thought he'd be able to clash with Morgoth head-on.

He'd be grateful if he didn't immediately die from aura suppression.

But that didn't mean he wasn't hoping on other means.

Boom

An explosion rang out as the sword arcs collided.

Felix's attack dissipated like a lie while Morgoth's own rushed forward, still filled with vigor.

"Felix!" Nathan called out but Felix remained standing as he performed yet another attack.

[Festival of Blades: Third Dance- Reconciliation activated]

Another green arc flew out and collided with Morgoth's attack before it finally dissipated.

Nathan sighed in relief before noticing that something was wrong.

Before he could say anything, Morgoth staggered forward as two arcs were carved on his body.

Nathan blinked a few times, unsure of how Morgoth suffered the attacks when he heard Felix.

"What are you waiting for?... Quickly take that bastard!"

Nathan snapped out of his initial shock as he dashed forward with everything he had.

Morgoth was still hunched, his eyes flickering s he tried to figure out what had happened.

Is this some sort of witchcraft?

He was sure he had blocked the attack so how was he struck from behind?

By the time he raised his head to question Felix, Nathan was already in front of him.

Knowing fully well, Morgoth would devour his lightning bolts if he used them, Nathan instead supercharged the lightning bolt in his hand and stabbed forward with lightning speed.

The bolt pierced Morgoth like a hot knife through solid butter, stunning him as several volts of lightning shook his insides.

Pulling out the bolt, Nathan called out to Felix. "Now!"

Felix was stunned for a moment before he realized what Nathan was aiming at.

Even now, he still recalled that this was a mission to help Felix grow.

Unlike the other monsters in the dungeon, Morgoth was a boss monster with considerable rank.

If Nathan were to kill him, there was no way he wouldn't receive considerable merit, but he chose not to do that.

Felix couldn't help but feel weird about his actions.

In any case, now wasn't the time to feel as Felix sorted out his thoughts before dashing forward.

His eyes trained on the price, and he activated [Analyst] to search for a weak point.

Within seconds, Morgoth's helm was designated as a weak point and Felix acted without hesitation.

[Festival of Blades: Second Dance- Vengeance activated]

Instead of a slash, Felix thrust his sword out and pierced the area where Morgoth's mouth was meant to be.

A moment later and a bloodcurdling cry rang out, nearly shattering Nathan and Felix's eardrums while also stunning the latter briefly.

The armor crumpled like paper as black smoke continually escaped from it after which what remained was a great sword and a pile of dust that was once Morgoth.

Felix remained in the stabbing position until Nathan shook him, allowing him to escape his stunned state.

At that moment, a system notification appeared in his field of vision.

[Congratulations, you have defeated the semi-boss monster of the Forbidden City]

[Completion rate: 45%]

[Your status has risen]

[Ordena has been recovered]

[Notice. You have defeated an enemy high above your rank]

[Collating rewards from the Will of the World]

[Your reward includes; Dark Armor ( Unique item ), System energy increment]

[Your status has risen]

[Your resistance to chaos energy has increased]

[Congratulations to the host for clearing the dungeon periphery.]

[You will soon be transported back to reality. Please standby]

Felix read the notifications before clicking his tongue.

The Will of the World, whatever it was, was quite lousy with rewards.

Instead of some super reward, it gave him armor and some more energy to spare.

"You've got guts," Nathan remarked, jolting him from his train of thought. "Not many would have the guts to do what you did."

Felix shrugged. "I couldn't let you have all the fun."

Nathan chuckled, clearly relieved that their dungeon-clearing attempt was successful even with the hiccups they encountered.

Hopefully, that wouldn't be the case for the remaining two.
