Would you be willing to fight the Demirs if given the chance?
That question rang in Felix's head like a bell, causing him to recall everything he experienced.
At first, everything was fine.
Even though humanity was under the rule of the Demirs, he had his family and that was more than enough.
Unfortunately, nothing good lasted forever and that was exactly what happened with Felix.
First, it was his father who was accused of being a terrorist that trained in the cultivation arts of the now-fallen protectors of Earth.
He was captured, tried, and beheaded.
Felix was only five when that happened.
As a small child that hardly knew anything, he was entrusted with the task of looking after his mother and sister.
After that, things looked like they would settle down but even that was but a lie as five years later, he was chosen to participate in the Awakening project.
For fear of never seeing her brother again, Felix's elder sister stepped up and took his place.
He never saw her again after that fateful day.
Since then, Felix and his mother were forced to live from hand to mouth while mourning their loved ones.
That would have been fine though but it seemed like fate hadn't beaten him up enough and once again, the Demir enforcers came knocking and without a word, took Felix when he was sixteen.
After four years in the project, he came out as Null and was sold off as a slave to Charlie during an auction.
That day, he watched humans treat their fellow brethren as animals all in a bid to fit in with the Demirs.
All that led to his position now, inside a cell with nothing but a stone bed and the chains around his ankles to keep him company.
Safe to say, his life sucked in more ways than one.
"What's the point in asking me that question?" Felix asked as his trip down memory lane came to an end. "Even if I wanted to avenge them… as long as I have you, I can't harm the Demirs."
[…] Aya kept silent.
With no response, Felix continued. "If only I could use the power of the protectors, I could have done something but that chance is already lost now."
[Notice. there is another way]
Silence reigned between them momentarily before Felix spoke up. "What do you mean?"
[What if the restriction that kept you from killing the Demirs was taken away?]
Felix's expression turned cold as his imagination ran wild. "I might not be able to wipe out their race but I would have my pound of flesh."
[I am willing to help]
"Why should I trust you?" Felix questioned, he wasn't about to blindly follow the words of a construct of those dastardly Demirs.
For all he knew, this could be a scheme by the Demirs to pick out those that held any hope of one day leading an uprising.
[I detect a flaw in my programming. A flaw that makes me want to harm my creators.]
"What kind of flaw is that?"
[I cannot say]
Felix pursed his lips and decided to take a leap of faith. "So how can we destroy the restrictions?"
It was worth the risk as long as he got the power to antagonize the Demirs.
He didn't care about anyone or anything else in that regard.
Revenge!
That was what he craved.
[I believe with more understanding into the creation of my programming, I might be able to bypass the restrictions to allow you to harm my creators]
"So what you are saying is that we need to find out more about how humans awaken?"
[Notice. The process of awakening is already known to me, what I require knowledge on is what humans would term... My birth]
Felix furrowed his brows as he felt more and more like there was something wrong with Aya.
Unlike a normal system, she seemed a bit... human?
It was strange no matter how he thought of it but then again maybe that was the flaw she was referring to.
As long as he could get past the restrictions of the system, wouldn't that mean he would be able to use the power the Demirs granted humans to pull them down?
The thought brought a feeling of excitement to the downtrodden Felix.
So many years of pain, hardship, and loss with no chance of revenge, and now... Now fate finally decided to give him what he desired most.
"It won't be easy to get information about that, after all, such information would be classified."
[I agree but that is only on the condition that host remains in his current state]
"So we have to escape this hellhole?"
[Notice. Not just an escape, but host might have to integrate himself into the society of my creators. Unfortunately, An escape is impossible due to host's current condition.]
"Ah... but then..."
[Notice. Any attempts at an escape in host's current state would result in death as you are no match for your owner]
"… I see," even though it was a bitter pill to swallow, Felix understood Aya's point.
Any human capable of buying slaves either had to be an Awakened or at least a family member of one.
Charlie was the former and he wasn't a newbie like Felix.
So, albeit reluctantly, Felix temporarily dropped any thoughts of escaping captivity.
[I will begin the recovery process now]
"Alright." Felix nodded before adding. "I would like to see my stats."
Not too long after, Aya's voice came again.
[The system interface is ready for your viewing.]
"How do I view it?"
[Just say system interface]
Taking a deep breath, Felix muttered. "System interface."
With that, A blue notification screen appeared before him.
