Chapter 5 - Madam Dyara

After getting a feel for both skills under Swordsman's class, Felix returned the sword and moved his attention to [Analyst].

"What does this do?" He casually asked.

[I believe that skill would be best suited for me]

Felix put up a brow. "For you?"

[Mn]

Felix was unconvinced thus he tapped on it to get more info.

"Can I use it?" Felix asked due to some of the displayed information being lost to him.

[Yes, but I doubt you'd be able to utilize it well so don't bother]

Felix's eyebrow twitched at the low-key insult.

It's not every day Awakened got insulted by their system.

In any case, she was indeed right.

Apart from being able to read and write, Felix wasn't a genius in that aspect.

It was best to leave it in more capable hands.

With that, he pushed the petty thoughts aside and shifted his attention to the [Gladiator] title.

After a few seconds of pondering, he decided to equip the title.

The next moment, a pop-up screen appeared next to his status window.

As the pop-up screen appeared, he felt a qualitative change in his physique.

As colorless energy coursed through his veins, Felix couldn't help but gasp in delight.

He felt stronger, and faster… like he wouldn't lose if he was in the same situation as yesterday.

Of course, along with the power came the urge to fight.

It was like an itch that wouldn't go away until he sated the urge.

"I expected more actually but it's not bad," Felix muttered as he considered if he got the skill because of the condition of the battle yesterday.

[The system cataloged your current state and gave a title befitting your situation yesterday. Please note that the title is capable of evolution]

Felix pursed his lips. "… I see. So that means I can get more titles with more experience?"

[Notice. I believe that is the case]

After moving around a little, he deactivated the skill and laid back in bed while Aya continued the recovery process that was close to completion.

Not too long after and Felix drifted off to sleep.

By the time he woke up, it was already evening as the sun hid and the moon peered from behind the clouds.

[Notice. Recovery process completed]

Felix stretched a few times before nodding. "It worked. I feel amazing."

[Notice. I believe it is time to begin planning an escape]

"Mn, you are right." Felix remarked before sighing. "First of all..."

The familiar sound of the door leading to his cell opening resounded causing him to stay silent.

{10 minutes prior}

In a fancy office with glass walls, Charlie sat on a swivel chair with his legs on the table.

He was dressed in a fancy suit and busied himself smoking a pipe.

"That bastard, even after the beating he received, he still survived," Charlie muttered. "Like a cockroach, he is annoyingly resilient!"

He regretted buying Felix in the first place.

But how would he have known that the bastard would be so annoying?

Most failures or what they were better known as, Null, after they were sold became loyal slaves, after all, with their wills crushed, the possibility of them thinking for themselves was minuscule.

They made for perfect bodyguards since their physical state would be enhanced as a by-product of the Awakening project.

Also since they were mostly dumb, there was no need to worry about them stabbing you in the back.

After Charlie managed to crawl his way out from the slums on the surface to live in Haven, He desired to live like those he looked up to, so he bought Felix and a few other Nulls in an auction but who knew that not long after he bought Felix, the bastard would ask to be freed?

Ignoring him for almost a year while doing everything to break his Will, Charlie had no choice but to allow Felix take part in the Absolution which was a way for a slave to regain their freedom if they managed to win three consecutive fights in the arena.

He already ensured that Felix would lose by paying the organizers to pair him up with a strong fighter.

Of course, he left some room to recover the money by saying that as long as Felix landed a total of three fatal blows on his opponent, the money would be returned.

It was a good gamble, after all, Felix was still a Null.

Unfortunately, the bastard only managed one hit!

Charlie lost his money and still had to deal with the subsequent headache that Felix gave him.

It was already a miracle that he withheld himself from killing Felix on the spot.

"Next time I'd have to ensure that their spirits are sufficiently broken." He muttered before taking a puff from his pipe. "Hopefully that person would be willing to take him off my hands."

Charlie sighed helplessly before glancing at the clock on the right side of the office. "I guess I should be heading out to pick her up now."

Dropping his legs, Charlie promptly got to his feet and was about to take his leave when the door to his office flew open and the guard from earlier rushed in with a terrified expression on his face.

"What the hell!... Why did you barge in here like that?" Charlie berated the fellow.

The guard was just about to speak when an invisible force sent him flying to the glass wall.

What followed was the shattering of glass followed by a bloodcurdling cry as his subordinate fell to his death.

Charlie gulped instinctively as the folds under his chin jiggled.

His heart beat in tandem with the footsteps approaching his office until a familiar figure appeared at the doorway.

"M…Madam Dyara… you are here?" Charlie asked with difficulty.

If not for his pride, he would have long since released gas.

A few seconds passed with no response causing Charlie to attempt a repeat his question.

"M…"

"I will be leaving soon. I came here because you told me you have a unique slave."

"But we already…"

"Take me to him." The voice was soft but authoritative.

It held no room for discussion causing Charlie to stay mute.

He wanted to tell her that he was meant to come to her but since she was already here, there was no need to speak further.

Without further Ado, he left his desk and led his customer down to the basement.
