Ha..ha
Felix breathed heavily as he stood a few meters away from the last Zombie Hyena.
The other Hyenas were incapacitated with no chance of helping their comrade face off against the bastard that ruined their meal and attacked them without reason.
[Warning. Energy levels are too low for continuous usage of skills. Host is advised to either retreat or end the battle immediately]
Felix nodded wordlessly as he felt fatigued.
His body was heavy and his joints were stiff.
He didn't allow his weakness to show though, after all, his opponent was a creature known to take advantage of such things.
Unfortunately, he couldn't charge at it but it also wasn't willing to do that, thus their standoff remained with no end in sight.
Grrrr
The hyena tried to intimidate Felix but received no response causing it to back away slightly.
Felix took a step forward, ready to attack the moment it turned its back.
Just as the tension between man and beast reached its peak, the hyena turned and ran.
Felix tried to attack but felt his legs give out as he watched the ground close in on him.
Bam
[Notice. Energy levels are depleted. Please standby as recovery takes place]
"Ugh." Felix groaned as his bones ached.
Even though the Zombie Hyenas were considered small fries to the real powerhouses, they were a bit much for him to handle considering his current level.
Of course, taking down four on his own without prior battle experience was already a plus on his resume.
Unfortunately, he hadn't managed to complete the kill, leaving him without a means to refuel his depleted energy reserves.
"Hah." He sighed as he turned to lie on his back. "It's better than nothing."
Just as he closed his eyes to allow Aya to work, a low growl from behind him caused him to open his eyes once again.
Danger bells rang in his head as he immediately rolled to the side just in time to watch the hyena that fled, slam into his previous location.
"Damn it." Felix tried to move his blade but fatigue caused his movements to be delayed and that was all the hyena needed as it lunged at him with its mouth open, aiming to bite off his head in one fell swoop.
Suddenly, there was a flash of light after which the hyena dropped to the ground, sliding until it stopped just before Felix.
The latter blinked a few times before cursing inwardly.
He had let his guard down again.
"You did well." Nathan at some point had appeared on the scene and was currently making his way to Felix.
Felix dropped his head. "I was careless."
"You were ballsy and that's respectable enough, after all, I can't carry you all the way," Nathan remarked, not bothering to berate the fellow.
One thing he liked about Felix was that he was willing to accept his mistakes.
He wasn't talented neither was he a genius.
Nay, he was just a normal guy that Awakened.
Most people in his shoes would let the system get to their head and ride on its coattails but Felix was different.
He was arrogant but also humble enough to not allow his meager power to get to his head.
There will always be a sky above a sky… Felix understood that and took it to heart.
Nathan sighed as he walked over to the other Hyenas that were still alive to put them out of their misery. "Your abilities are a poor match for mutants like the Zombie Hyenas but you still managed to incapacitate them. That already shows your level of growth."
"Did you know this would happen?" Felix asked.
"More or less. I mean, a dead body out here in the wilderness never lasts more than two days before it disappears. I thought it would be a nice way to train after your blunder this afternoon."
"It was helpful, thank you."
Nathan looked a bit flustered as he cleared his throat. "Let's go, before a big one is attracted over."
"A big one?" Felix put up a brow.
"Mn, The Alpha of the pack. More troublesome to handle than these small critters."
"Are you scared of it?"
"Heh, of course not. But fighting it can be annoying considering its zombie characteristics. Anyway, let's go, we have a few more stops to make before we get to the dungeon."
Felix nodded but made no attempt to move.
Nathan took a few steps forward before glancing back. "Come on, we don't have all night."
Coughing awkwardly, Felix glanced to the side as he said something barely audible.
"Huh."
"…I can't move," Felix muttered after a bit of hesitation.
Nathan paused before his eyes curved into crescents.
His lips quivered as an amused smile slowly appeared.
"You need me to carry you?"
Felix pursed his lips. "… Maybe."
"I didn't hear you properly."
"…Yes."
"Speak up."
"Don't be an asshole!" Felix exploded as Nathan burst into laughter.
"Okay, come here princess, don't worry, this prince charming will help you."
Felix suppressed the urge to kill as both individuals went on their way.

(5 days later)
Caw
A giant bird the size of an aircraft was soaring through the air, letting out bird cries as it circled a single target.
Its neck was twisted at a weird angle and its eyes bulged out, giving it a rather creepy appearance.
The most distinct part of this strange creature was its beak however which was as sharp as a needle but had enough space to swallow a building.
A Wind Tyrant, that's what they called it.
On the mutant scale, it was Graded C from a total of five ranks, starting from E and ending at A.
Not many existed with each creature being domineering enough to kill anything that dared to intrude on its space.
Several died to its beak because they had intruded and it seemed another would be joining the roster as it made a dive for the human currently standing at the center of the area it just circled.
Whoosh
It tore through the air currents, wheezing across like an arrow of death with nothing daring to stand in its way.
But instead of its target fleeing, he took an offensive stance and a green light flashed from his sword.
Regardless, the Tyrant charged forward, not bothered that prey dared to face its beak head-on.
But just as it opened its mouth to swallow the fool, it happened.
[Horizontal slash activated]
A fine green line shot forward and the Tyrant breathed its last.
