Chapter 32 - Dungeon clearing II

The alabaster falcon reacted as soon as Felix pulled the trigger, doing a spin to create an air draft strong enough to repel the bullets with ease.

Felix immediately leaped to the side with a surprised look as he watched the falcon approach him even faster.

"This might be a bit troublesome."

Hardly had those words left his lips when the falcon began its counterattack.

Its mouth opened slightly to reveal a circular hole within.

From there, a stream of golden light rushed out before it formed a ball.

Despite the description, this only took a moment to complete before the falcon shot it like a projectile.

Danger bells rang in Felix's head as he immediately retrieved his sword and swung it while activating a skill.

[Horizontal slash activated]

The two attacks met in the middle resulting in an explosion of wind.

"This…" For some reason, the falcon and its mode of attack made Felix recall the Mech units that normally appeared alongside the Auditors that came from the floating cities when he was young to carry out inspections.

Of course, if he were to make a comparison between the two, he would say that this was a more inferior version.

[Notice. Analysis complete. Weak points discovered]

"Good."

Boom

Without looking back to see what has caused the explosion, Felix turned in the opposite direction and fled with the falcon hot on his tail.

Without warning, it opened its mouth again and this time, a flurry of attacks ensued.

Felix was forced to dodge as he used the houses as cover, waiting for the right opportunity to strike.

Thankfully, the attacks were not as powerful as the initial one leading him to believe that it had switched modes.

Much like how he could switch between single-fire and rapid-fire, the falcon had a similar function.

But then that brought up the question… why was that the case?

With no chance of getting an answer without destroying the pesky avian, Felix didn't hesitate to act.

Rushing back to the fountain where he and Nathan had seen it, Felix suddenly turned around and swung his arm.

Instead of the sword-wielding one though, he swung the gun-wielding arm.

[Trick Shot activated]

At first glance, it looked like he missed as the Falcon immediately spun only to not come into contact with anything.

But the moment it charged at Felix with its mouth open, ready to unleash yet another powerful strike, there was a sound like air being cut apart before a loud bang followed.

Bam

It was a dull sound, after all, its target was made of stone but that didn't reduce the damage inflicted as the falcon's left wing fell off, causing it to plunge downward.

Seizing the opportunity, Felix dashed forward while brandishing his sword but before he had a chance to act, the avian broke apart the moment it touched the ground.

"Uh…" Felix paused in his tracks as he stared at the pieces of stone.

Scratching his head, he called out to Aya. "Is it dead?"

[Notice. It was never alive.]

"So it was some kind of Mech?"

[Notice. Indeed. But its working principle is quite different]

"… I see." Felix nodded wordlessly before his eyes brightened up as a certain thought came to mind.

"Is it possible to recreate it?"

[Notice. Weapon creation allows you to copy and recreate any item designated as a weapon, regardless of the working principle. So yes, it can be recreated]

"Good." Without hesitation, Felix returned the weapons to his hand before crouching down to place his palm on one of the pieces of alabaster left from the falcon.

[Notice. Scanning specimen]

[Notice. Due to the shattered state the specimen is in, it is impossible to recover a complete blueprint]

"So I can't recreate it?"

[Negative. Recreation is possible but with a few deviations]

"I don't mind."

[Alright then. Please standby]

After a few seconds, Aya's voice came again.

[Analysis complete.]

[New weapon design discovered.]

[New weapon: Flight-type Golem]

[New title gained: Pilot]

[Your status has risen]

[Your status has risen]

[Congrats to host]

"Golem, huh…" Felix mused.

[Indeed. A simple comparison would be that they are Mechs but for Magic-based civilizations]

"Makes sense when you put it that way." Felix pulled his palm back before stretching a bit.

"Nathan should be done by now. I wonder if he left those golems in one piece."

The thought of gaining battle-type golems tickled Felix's fancy quite a bit.

He quickly rushed back to the gate, arriving just as Nathan undid his lightning transformation.

"You took your time," Nathan remarked casually as he turned to Felix.

Felix shrugged. "It was a tricky one."

"Uh-huh."

Felix glanced behind Nathan to discover that the stone knights were torn apart, with barely enough left of them to carry out a scan.

"You went too far."

Nathan put up a brow. "Huh."

Ignoring him, Felix walked past before crouching down to place his palm on the golem.

A few seconds later and a similar set of notifications to when the Alabaster falcon was recreated came up, allowing Felix to heave a sigh of relief.

"Uhmm, what are you doing?" Nathan asked out of curiosity.

"Doesn't matter." Felix sharply replied before glancing at the gate. "Why isn't it open?... We have dealt with the problems on this side, no?"

"We might need to go over…" Nathan stopped talking as the outer city trembled, this time even more violently than the previous two.

"Another golem?" Both Felix and Nathan turned back but nothing happened.

Just then, a creaking sound was heard causing them to glance at the gate just in time to watch it open up slowly to reveal palpable darkness at the other end.

A chill erupted from the other end causing Felix's hair to stand on end.

Nathan remarked coldly. "Bloodlust… strong enough to arouse my senses."

His eyes flashed again as he knew that the real danger of the dungeon was at the other end of the gate.

"Do we go in?" Felix asked.

Nathan was about to respond when the outer city shook greatly before everything began to fold in on itself.

Starting from the city walls bending until it was like a steamroller, it began to move in their direction.

"What in the world?" Felix muttered in utter disbelief.
