Ha…ha
Felix breathed heavily as he stopped shooting to catch his breath.
How long had it been?
He was so caught up in the battle he couldn't tell anymore.
[Notice. 15 minutes have passed since you started random shooting]
Felix's eyebrows twitched.
He didn't bother with a response as he prepared for round 2.
His body was riddled with varying degrees of injuries but Pain resistance helped him ignore it, allowing him to focus on the fight.
Dead bodies of chimeras were piled up around him but this did nothing to deter the others as they climbed over their comrades and lunged at Felix.
Knowing just how deadly their blood was, Felix rushed out of the encirclement, keeping a good distance from them before unleashing a flurry of bullets.
With the lack of rewards despite the effort put in, Felix began to regret coming into the dungeon.
It pained him that despite all the work, he wasn't able to gain anything for it.
No increase in status, talk more of an increase in Ordena.
If anything, it did help him sharpen his skills without relying on the system but that was it.
"How long will this take?" Felix grumbled as he leaped to the side just as a chimera managed to close the distance.
It was a close shave as it attempted to take his whole arm but ended up with a scratch.
Of course, the so-called scratch was deep enough to show Felix's bone but who cares?
"Darn it, be more careful!" Nathan angrily called out as he could barely hold back any longer.
Kwadudu
With the sound of thunder, a flash of lightning followed, ripping apart every chimera that dared to come within 5 meters of Nathan.
Felix didn't bother with a response as he turned to run in the opposite direction to create more space when the ground suddenly trembled.
Nathan's brows creased as the tremor came again, this time even more powerful than the last.
Meanwhile, Felix noticed that the chimeras were no longer charging at him, instead, they seemed to be backing away.
"Uh…" Felix couldn't help but wonder if the source of the tremor was the reason for such a reaction.
His question would soon be answered as the tremor continued until it seemed like the source was too close for comfort.
At that moment, a great shadow loomed over the battlefield.
Nathan's eyes went wide while Felix nervously gulped down.
He was battle hungry, not stupid.
Felix could tell from a glance that the monster currently staring down at him was above his pay grade.
"What in the world…"
It was a giant of many faces… more like a gigantic chimera with human faces stitched all over its body.
It had no face of its own and the faces on its muscular physique were contorted, revealing varying emotions… most of which fell under the negative spectrum.
"It looks like a cross between a chimera and a golem…" Felix muttered before he realized he was unable to move.
Fear or was it suppression?
[Fear inducement has evolved to Fear tolerance]
[Congratulations on achieving evolution in another resistance]
[Your status has risen]
[Ordena has been recovered]
Ignoring the notifications popping up in quick succession, Felix remarked. "Maybe both."
At this point, the battlefield was noticeably quiet with no sounds except for the breathing of the gigantic monstrosity before him.
"Aya… scan that thing."
A few seconds passed before Aya's alarmed voice rang in his head.
[Notice. No visible weak points discovered. Retreat!]
"Hmm" Felix made a face. "I did not expect that."
Rawr!
A massive pressure descended on him as the giant chimera opened its mouth.
He dropped to his knees, barely able to keep himself from lying face-first on the ground.
"This is a bit much, no?"
Crackle
Boom
Suddenly there was a flash of white followed by an explosion of lightning.
The giant chimera stumbled back a few times before regaining itself.
Felix managed to raise his head high enough to see Nathan's back.
"Take care of the small ones… I'll handle the big one." Nathan's lax attitude was gone, replaced with a more serious one.
Felix didn't dare to say anything contradictory. Unlike the smaller ones, he knew he had no shot against the giant chimera.
This made him wonder if the current way of ranking dungeons was safe.
If he was alone, wouldn't he have already died from facing enemies above his grade?
"Dungeons are quite dangerous places without sufficient preparation." He could only mutter as he got back to his feet.
Nathan glanced back at Felix. "Be careful."
"Mn." Felix nodded after which he turned his back to Nathan.
One faced the giant chimera while the other faced the smaller ones that still numbered in the hundreds.
With no way of recovering Ordena, it was a race against time to defeat these critters to face the final boss.
No more words were spoken and just as tension reached an all-time high… They moved.
Boom!
The earth beneath their feet sank as they dashed forward to their respective targets.
[Notice. Is host planning on close combat?]
"Mn."
[The blood is still a problem]
"How much longer until Festival of Blades is unlocked?"
[…It is currently at 70% proficiency]
"Good. Since I can't gain Ordena or status increase, I'll just have to train my weapon proficiency instead."
[Notice. Activating Analyst]
"Good." Felix returned the guns and retrieved the sword instead.
It shone a faint red as it reflected the red lightning flashing overhead in the sky.
The chimeras had already escaped the initial terror at the sudden appearance of their giant cousin thus they charged at Felix.
Stopping a good distance from them, [Analyst] allowed him to scope out the entire field in a single scan.
All enemies were rushing at him with none diverging from his path.
With a satisfactory nod, he acted.
[Vertical slash activated]
Soon enough, the red sword turned green and the dungeon floor bathed in the blood of hundreds.
