CHAPTER 12
Scarlett silently cursed her luck at this moment. She was hoping to get outside the club and hide somewhere. Then she would call her brother for help or a cab.
Now she has no choice but to take the stairs. However, on her way up, she met with two bulky men at the top of the stairs.
"I'm sorry miss. This section is restricted except you have a ticket pass," one of the bulky men blocked her path.
There was nothing new about this rule and Scarlett knew very well that this section must be for VIPs.
"Please, I–"
"Get back here, you b*tch," the voice of the men chasing her grabbed their attention.
"Oh no."
Scarlett thought and acted quickly. She used the bouncers' distraction as an opportunity to run into the VIP area. It was a whole floor on another different level of clubbing.
This part of the club was for the Richy rich in society. So the class and everything was different. But that wasn't Scarlett's main concern.
It was how to escape from the two men chasing her and now including the bouncers. So without thinking, she went toward a table in a corner and randomly sat on one of the men.
Upon realising whose thighs she was on, Scarlett felt relieved and her lips pulled upwards into a smile.
"Oh, it's you. Good. Help me deal with some pest, Arsenio," she said before dropping her head on his shoulder.
To say Arsenio was stunned would be an understatement. One moment he was minding his business and the next thing, the woman he was trying to ignore is on his thighs.
His eyes met with his right-hand man, Ryker. The latter also had the same look of shock in his eyes. But it soon turned to a teasing look.
Before Arsenio could say a word, four men came into the VIP floor- the bouncers and the men who Scarlett angered.
Their eyes scanned the people there and soon they spotted her. The woman with the red hair. Without thinking, one of the men called out.
"There she is. You think you can run after what you've done. You b*tch."
Just as they were going to grab her, the two bouncers stopped them before they commit a huge offence.
"We are sorry for the disturbance, Mr Stone," one of the bouncers spoke quickly to shut the struggling men up.
At the mention of that name that sounded familiar and strong. It sent a certain chill down their spine. It was at that moment they really noticed Arsenio's presence at the table.
They gulped.
"Forgive us but we will like to know if that lady is with you," the bouncer asked.
There was a moment of silence as Arsenio's eyes remained on the men.
"Please tell them yes," Scarlett whispered desperately to him. "Please." Her hand on his shirt tightened a bit.
"Why would I allow a random woman to sit on me?" Arsenio's deep voice enunciated.
Scarlett let out a silent sigh of relief. Her hand that was rumpling his shirt eased up.
"Oh, I see. Then sorry for the misunderstanding and disturbance, Mr–"
"Hold on a minute," another person interrupted them. It was the man whom Scarlett had hit.
"If she is your woman, why was she drinking alone at the bar downstairs when you are up here?" He asked with a smirk.
Ryker inwardly shook his head for the man. He sure is brave but he is as well stupid and crossing the line.
However, he found this little drama interesting to watch. He wanted to see how Arsenio would handle it considering he has never been caught in a woman's situation.
He grabbed his glass of wine and sat back. A smile dangling on his lips as he watched.
Arsenio, in the midst of the problem, looked at the woman sitting comfortably on him. What is he going to do with her?
Sensing his gaze, Scarlett looked up from his shoulder. She could not read his eyes so she just answered the question the man asked instead.
"I just wanted to drink there. There is nothing wrong with being on a different floor from your partner. Right, Arsenio?" She blinked a hint at him.
"Hmm," he hummed in agreement.
The man gritted his teeth. Just when he thought he would have a sweet hot chick to play with tonight, she turns out to belong to a man of higher standing than him.
Now he will have to apologise for acting out of place.
"Ahem! I– We had no idea she was with you, Mr Stone. My apologies," the man spoke through gritted teeth.
"Get lost."
Two simple words. Just those two words were enough to convey both his impatience and irritation at their presence.
Arsenio had no interest in his apology. Especially knowing fully well that it had not an ounce of sincerity in it. Now he just wanted them out of his sight.
So if they tread wrongly at this moment, his wrath may just be released. Understanding this, they scurried off on their feet.
Scarlett sighed in relief. She then attempted to get off Arsenio, but the latter did not seem to like the idea. Or so she thought.
"They are not yet gone," he held her down by her waist.
After a while, and he was not intending to let go, Scarlett cleared her throat. "Uhm, I... Well, t-thank you for your help."
"Hmm," Arsenio gave a curt nod and released his hold on her.
Ryker almost laughed at how awkward the both of them were. He silently excused himself to the dance floor to enjoy himself.
"I should get going now," Scarlett said as she stood up, staggering a bit.
Arsenio quickly held her before she lost her footing.
"They will surely wait to corner you in case you leave alone. Let me escort you out of here and get you a cab home." His words were hard to refute so Scarlett agreed.
