Alex (The King's Nephew)
"Greetings your highness." Mario, my new right hand man, greeted me with a bow as he stood before me.
"You may have your seat, Mario." I said, staring at him as he obediently did.
"Thank you, your highness. What do you have for me, your highness?" He curiously asked as his eyes lingered on mine.
"Don't worry. Very soon it will be your majesty and you will be my right hand man and adviser," I said and he smiled.
"Don't worry your highness. All this would be fulfilled in a matter of time," he assured.
"I keep on hearing that Mario. 'Just a matter of time' but whenever I'm alone,I do ask myself. 'When exactly is the time?'"
"Patience, your highness, the right time will come soon enough," he said.
"When exactly is the right time for us to strike the king and how do we do it now that we have taken away some minor problems, when are we going to take away the major one?"I asked with a frown.
"We should strike the king the very time he is at his weakest state, that time when he is powerless and at the mercy of people." He said, making me keep quiet for a while.
"For the past twenty years that my uncle had been the king,I have been searching for a moment where he would be weak or maybe powerless but till date I have still not seen that moment. When his son went missing, I had thought to myself that it was the right time to strike, thinking that he would be devastated and weak but he surprised me. He surprised everyone of us. He was strong and even behaved like nothing bad had happened."
"Your highness I'm not talking about that. I'm talking about the moment he eats, drinks or maybe falls asleep. Everyone sleeps, right?" He said naively.
"You make me laugh Mario. We have tried numerous times to attack him at the dead hours of the night, time when everyone is asleep but do you know that the king sent their dead bodies back instead? You see at this junction I am convinced that the king doesn't sleep. He is always on alert,"I said sincerely.
"That is impossible. Everyone does sleep and the king is also a man. He must sleep," he said.
"Well maybe he does sleep but no one knows when and where."
.
"He does, my king. As long as he still has blood running in his veins then he must rest. We just have to look for the right time patiently," he said calmly.
"Patience? My patience is running out, Mario. I'm tired of being patient. I had thought there was hope when his son went missing or probably died but he became stronger than before. Do you know that I have also tried poisoning him on various occasions? But he ends up not eating the food or drinking the poisonous wine. I have set traps for him but he has never fallen for any of them. He keeps overcoming it all," I said frustratedly and Mario was quiet but had a thinking face on.
"I think I'm going to create an army of my own who will fight against the king and his own armies for the throne," I said and he spoke instantly.
"I don't think that is not a good idea, your highness. People would be suspicious of you even before you attack and even if the king doesn't know. People will bring his attention to you and he might attack you first even before you are able to gather your army in the accusation of treason," he said and I thought for a while.
"You are right. The less people that know about my ambition for the throne the higher probability I get to sit on it. So what are you suggesting we should do?" I asked.
"Very good, your highness. I think it's time to consult expert assassins. The best of the very best," he said.
"Assassins? I have sent tons of them but no one amongst them has ever succeeded," I said, not enthusiastic about it.
"There are different types of assassins, your highness and I know one of the best, the leader of the scorpion mafia group, Edwardo." He said and he kinda got my interest.
"I don't really care what his position is. The question is would he be able to kill the king?" I asked.
"Yes, your highness. I'm one hundred percent sure about this," he said confidently.
"What is so special about him that makes you so confident about him?"I asked.
"He is tested and trusted. You should be rest assured that everything will be better than you planned," he boasted.
"I just hope this person is as good as you claim, Mario."
"He is your highness and I assure you that you will also be impressed with his job," he assured.
"So how do we invite this.. expert over?" I asked, trying to believe the person is competent like he had said.
"It is very easy, your highness. As long as you have more than enough money to give him then he is at your service," he said, making me frown.
"Money isn't my problem Mario and you know that so when can I see him?" I asked again.
"I know your highness. I will contact him soon and give you the feedback when I have gotten a response from him," he said softly.
"Alright. But please don't let it take too long cause I'm tired of waiting,"I said.
"No problem, your highness. I beg to take my leave so as to start preparing," he said, getting up why I only nodded.
TRISTAN
"You all should walk in and be fast about it," Edwardo snapped at us as we all walked into his room sluggishly.
He called ten of us a few minutes ago saying that he wanted to see us. I wonder what type of assignment he has for us that would make him invite ten people.
"Greeting boss," The others greeted him while I kept mute.
"I have an assignment for you all here and it is a bit difficult which is the reason why you are this much," Edwardo addressed.
"What type of job are we doing and how hard is it?"I asked.
"This hard." He said, stretching out his phone to me, and I collected it and checked the picture inside of it before passing it to others to see.
"The security of the place is too tight, the guards outside are too much and somethin tells me that there would be a few of them inside," he stated further.
"What exactly are we stealing from the mansion?" I asked again.
"A painting. This one in particular," he said, swiping the screen of his phone before giving it back to me.
I looked at the screen revealing a beautiful and expensive painting. I then passed the phone to others so they could have a look also.
"This is a very beautiful painting," I said and everyone agreed with me.
"Yes it looks very beautiful..." They all said.
"But what do we want to use a painting for here?" I asked and Tanya hit me a bit with her elbow. She considered the question wrong but I'm curious to know.
"I do not need the painting but this painting is worth close to a billion dollars," he said and everyone was all amazed as no one expected something so simple as a painting to be so valuable.
"Wow! That is quite huge but how do you think we can get into that mansion?" I asked.
"That is why we are all here Tristan. We all need to bring our heads together to find a way we can get the painting extracted from the mansion and it must be tonight," Edwardo said.
"I think we should sneak into the mansion, maybe through the fence." One of the guys said.
"But the fences are top high and there are barbed wires on it so it won't be easy except we want to be electrocuted," anotherĀ countered the first.
"So what do you all think we should do to get in?" Edwardo asked restlessly.
"If only one of us can go in and switch off the power supply of the mansion, then it would be very easy for the rest to get in through the fence," Tanya suggested and it sounded nice.
"She is right and I think I can bridge the security system and get into the mansion and tamper with its power supply," I said and they all stared at me like I had grown horns.
"How do you plan to do that?" They asked in a chorus while I just smirked..
