Samuel's Pov:
We walk out of the library and the brisk cold nips at my nose. Small snowflakes flutter through the air as the wind beings to pick up. "I feel a storm brewing. Noah, this has to be a quick job. We need to get done before the snow begins to fall heavily."
"Ok. I got it." We walk quickly back to Sandra's home. I put my hand up indicating for Noah to stop walking. I hear scuffling in the back. I listen to multiple voices argue and yell at each other. I pull my gun out of the inside of my jacket.
I look back at Noah and he has a gun out as well. I put up three fingers, then 2 then 1. We bolt into the back garden. I grab the closest goblin and put a bullet through his brain. I watch as the life drains from the body as it goes limp. A goblin jumps onto my back and tries to rip my neck open from behind.
I put the gun over my shoulder and shoot. I feel blood splatter onto my neck. It's still warm. The body falls off of my back and never moves again. I hear a gunshot come from Noah's gun. 3 down. 4 to go.
I look around then I see a hole that was recently dug. Damnit. Are they trying to make this their permanent home? I look around for a shovel. This has gotta stop now. I grab a shovel and begin to fill in the tunnel to who knows where. I hear another gunshot. 3 more.
A scream shatters the light silence. I turn around to see who's the owner. It's Noah. His leg is bending the wrong way. His calf is sticking out at a 90° angle from his knee. Them damn goblins! I run up and grab the goblin that twisted his leg the wrong way. I put the gun to her head and take her life. The other goblin that was holding my brother down begins to run away from us. I aim and take the shot. Bullseye.
I crouch down next to his leg. I look at his face and tears are streaming quickly down his face. "You're fine. You're ok. Calm down." I look around for something that Noah could bite down on. I pull a stake out of my pocket and stick it in his mouth. "Prepare yourself." I grab the leg and snap it back into place. He screams with the stake in his mouth. Not long after he blacks out from the pain.
"Wait. Weren't there seven?" I whisper to myself. I stand up and look around. Where is it? "ARGH!" I fall to my knees. I turn around and there it is. I aim and shoot it right between the eyes. Blood sprays onto my face. I touch the back of my calf. My fingers meet a warm liquid oozing out of a deep gash. Fuck.
I scoop Noah into my arms and walk into Sandra's house. She's sitting in the living room. "Oh my! What happened?" She asks frantically as I limp into her home with my passed-out brother in my arms.
I lay him on the couch and I sit on the floor next to him. I smile at Sandra, "Could you bring me my backpack?" She grabs my bag and quickly brings it to me. I dig through the bag for some bandages. I take off my belt and wrap it around my thigh. I pull out a bundle of bandages. The blood flowing from my calf starts to slow. I pull a needle and thread from my bag.
I thread the needle and begin to sew my calf back together. I tie off the thread. I take the belt off my leg and wrap the bandages around my wound. I look up and Sandra is staring out her back windows. I assume she's looking at the bodies that lie around her garden. "I'll clean those up tomorrow." She nods her head and continues staring out the window.
I sit up and begin to look at Noah's leg. I wave my hand over her face to make sure he's still out. He's still gone. I remove his jeans so I can get a better look at his knee. It's extremely red. You poor boy. I grab the leg and move it. It seems like a clean snap. That's great for recovery purposes. I adjust the knee to a point where I think the break lines up. I run outside to get a strong stick to use as a splint. I grab one and run back inside.
Once I enter the house I hear painful groans. Crap he's up. I walk quickly back to the couch. "Noah, it's gonna be alright." I sit down next to him and line the stick with his knee and begin to bind it tightly to his leg.
"Owwww." Noah groans as he tries to move. "That's not a good idea." He plops back down onto the couch. "I'm sorry Sam." I sit down again with my back to the couch. "It's ok. You'll get better." I sigh. "Let's just sleep so we can return home." I lay down on the cold floor and fall asleep.
