"Maa, where's the shampoo? I can't find it!" Ankita shouted from her room. Trina slapped her temple and said loudly "Inside the cabinet. I just put in the new bottle a few days ago. The old one was finished so I threw it away. I told you in the morning only." "Maa I'm inside the bathroom can you pass me the bottle? I can't go out like this" Ankita's voice came from her room. Mrs Dey put her laptop aside and went to her daughter. They had a wedding to attend so she was checking some files from her company as she'll be busy in the evening.
A few days passed since the results were out. Ankita did quite well in it. So she was quite excited to go to the buffet, ahem, the wedding ceremony. She aimed to wake up early in the morning to clean herself but the summer vacation took its toll on her and unfortunately, she couldn't get up before 9 am. Then Mr Chakraborty forced her to have breakfast which she ate quite less than her usual quantity. As for why? She was just saving space in her tummy for the buffet in the evening. And now she was inside the bathroom looking for her shampoo when she noticed it was missing.
After a one and a half hour bath, Ankita came out of the bathroom wearing her bathrobe and wrapping her hair in a towel. 'Having a nice shower and shampooing sure makes one feel good.' She thought while drying herself. After wearing her clothes she went downstairs. "There she is." She heard Tanmoy say looking at her while holding his phone. She was confused about who it was. Tanmoy smiled and turned his phone towards her and Ankita squealed in delight "Didi!" She hurried downstairs and snatched the phone from his hand. "How are you? Are you that busy to visit me once? You won't be going to the wedding with us too. Do you love your job more than me?..." She threw some questions one after the other without letting Bibhabori speak.
They chatted for a long time and Bibhabori finally managed to pacify her sister's anger. Ankita looked much better than before after talking with her sister. They will be setting off after lunch since the place is quite far away from their place and it took about an hour and a half to reach and it'll be a haggle to stop somewhere on the way for lunch. They got ready and set off at 4 pm. The ceremony will be starting at 6 pm so they'll get enough time to socialize after reaching there.
Tanmoy drove the car and Ankita sat in the passenger seat and their parents in the back seat. "Play..." Ankita named a movie to the Player. The little sphere on the dashboard lit up and a mechanical voice sounded. A few seconds later a holographic screen appeared above it. Ankita adjusted the location of the screen and brought it in front of her since her parents decided to sleep for a bit. She set its size and put on her headphones. Then the movie began to play.
By the time they reached their destination, Ankita fell asleep while watching the movie. Tanmoy turned the Player off and woke her up. After checking on her phone that she was not drooling and her makeup was alright she alighted the car. Her mouth was agape as she saw the building where the wedding will be held. They had to scan their cards before entering. It was even more exquisite on the inside. The sculptures on the pillars, the chandelier and the decoration everything was mesmerising.
Soon the colleague who sent the invitation spotted the family and came over. "Hello, Subhashish. I'm so glad you came." Mr Chakraborty greeted him too. Everyone was dressed in traditional clothes. It was a sight to behold. Men wore dhoti kurta or kurta pajama and women wore sarees and lehengas. Everything was so very colourful. Mr Bhadra, the colleague introduced them to everyone. Subhashish knew quite a few of the people present but there were also those whom he did not know. He guessed they were from the groom's side or the bride's friends.
Mr Bhadra and Mr Chakraborty were quite close. They were friends from University and worked in the same place. It was just that Mr Chakraborty did not want to become famous even after being more talented than Mr Bhadra and chose to remain just an attending doctor in his clinic. But Mr Bhadra made a name for himself and was a renowned doctor in the state. But the most surprising thing was that he was very humble despite all that. Everyone was aware what terrifying of a company it was. Being an ordinary employee there was enough to get respected by all. But she was also in an important position in the marketing department.
The ceremony began. Most of the guests had already arrived while some were still coming. Ankita talked with the bride and as expected they became quite close in such a short period. Bithi, the bride was a sweet girl and liked Ankita's bubbly personality. That is why Ankita was surprised when she said she worked at Jet, in the marketing department. Those who heard all gasped and her parents looked proud of her. It was evident how dear she was to her parents. So it was not surprising that they will hold a lavish celebration for their only daughter's wedding.
After the ritual was over and the bride and groom were greeting everyone when someone suddenly asked "Didn't you invite the President?" Several of her colleagues from Jet had come and many present were trying to make their acquaintance. But still, they kept a respectful distance from the big shots. Working at Jet was equivalent to being a big shot in common people's eyes. When that person asked the question everyone was also excited. They never met the new President of Jet so they were eager to know if he/she would come.
