El came out of the restroom and sat beside Alec. Her face looked more pale than before.
She turned towards Alec, leaning closer to him she widened her eyes and extended a lower lip slightly.
"Mr. Wilson, I'm not feeling well. Could we please go back to your place?" She asked in an extremely soft voice.
"But we have a couple's honeymoon suite booked here at the Hamspearl." Alec said
"Please"
Michelle said looking at him longingly.
How could anyone say no to those mesmerizing eyes and that adorable face Alec thought.
"Fine, let's go" he said and only informed Ricky about this.
Once they left the Hamspearl premises, El texted Mark about it.
On the way, El had already fallen asleep on his shoulder.
Once they reached, he didn't intend to disturb her sleep so he carried her inside and laid her on his bed.
He showered, got into his pyjamas and slept on the other corner of his bed.
The next morning, El woke up feeling feverish.
She did not look better than yesterday evening. "Good morning"
"Do you feel better now?" He asked.
She shook her head.
Alec touched her forehead to check for fever, he was shocked when he felt exceedingly high body temperature.
"I'll have a doctor check on you." Alec said and El only nodded.
El noticed that she had the bracelet on hand which Alec had offered her before.
Alec stepped out of his room and asked Patty, the maid, to get some light breakfast for her; he then called the doctor.
El freshed up and started eating the breakfast, once she was half done she felt nauseous.
She hurried to the bathroom and puked all of the breakfast out. She refused to eat anymore.
The maid informed Alec and he felt concerned and also suspicious about her.
He had a doctor check on her.
He prescribed medicines for her fever and collected blood samples for testing.
"We'll get the blood results by evening" the doctor said and suggested some precautionary measures.
Alec went back to his room. He saw her face devoid of all colours.
She stared back at him. Her eyes started closing slowly and she drifted to sleep again.
She rested till evening and refused to eat anything because of nausea. The doctor called Alec,
"According to the test results Mrs. Wilson was drugged with an Antiandrogen drug.
Its a new drug specifically meant to diminish male sex drive. If consumed at a higher dose it might cause fatal harm to male genitalia.
Given that Mrs. Wilson, being a woman, consumed it, the drug effects aren't that adverse. It'll take a 3-4 days for the drug to be flushed out completely.
She might have fever, nausea and weakness during this period. I'll prescribe the required medicines."
Alec's face grew darker as he heard about the drug.
The doctor hesitated and said
"If I may say this Mr.Wilson, the drug is very lethal and no one would consume it out of their own will. One who spiked the food or drink didn't intend to drug Mrs. Wilson, a woman but a man. I advise you caution Mr. Wilson."
"Alright", Alec said and ended the call.
Alec thought about what the doctor said and recalled the events of the previous day.
She drank my wine, that must be it, he thought to himself.
He called Ben and asked him to get to the bottom of this.
He was furious to find out that someone intended to drug him.
"Ahh" he heard a voice from upstairs. El had come out of her room and had hit her leg on the side table.
Alec hurried towards her. He bent down to meet her face and asked
"Why did you come out?"
"I..I was feeling hungry, so I.." El said sheepishly.
"If you want anything, call the maids, don't trouble yourself for it, at least until you get well, understood?"
Alec said and El nodded.
He carried her and brought her downstairs to the dining area.
She quietly ate her food while Alec sat beside her.
When she was done, her phone rang. It was Mark. To not raise any suspicions she received the call.
Mark asked
"Are you alright, El? Have you left?"
"Yeah, I'm fine, '' El replied.
"I'm sorry I wasn't there."
" It's okay that you couldn't attend my wedding Mark", El said sarcastically.
Alec was getting curious about the call. But he couldn't hear the other side. "Isobelle is worried about you, make sure you give her a call."
"Alright, I'll give her a call".
"Are you sure you are fine?" Mark asked her again.
"Yeah,"
"I'm relieved that you are alright El because much worse things could have happened yesterday".
"What do you mean?" She asked with her brows furrowed. Alec's curiosity piqued.
"Relax first, do you know who was there yesterday?" Mark asked.
"Who?" El replied impatiently.
"Dwane," Mark said in a low voice.
El was so shocked her grip on the glass loosened and the glass smashed.
"Hey, El are you alright? El.." Mark continued.
"Yeah yeah, I'm fine" she said and cut the call.
El closed her eyes and inhaled a long breath.
"El, what's wrong?" Alec asked her surprised at her reaction.
El turned towards him with a bright smile "nothing, just happy to be alive."
Her smile felt infectious, Alec smiled as well.
"Who was it?" Alec asked.
"Mark".
"Mark who?" Alec's voice got intimidating.
"He is a friend. More like a brother to me." El said.
Alec nodded once and asked "You done?"
"Yes", El replied.
He stood up and picked El. El wasn't expecting it and felt awkward, "What are you doing?" She asked.
"The doctor said you might feel weakness, I don't want you to trip, hit something or faint on the way." Alec said and carried her to his bed.
"I'm sorry for being a trouble."
"In sickness and in health" Alec said, reminding her of their wedding vows.
"How do you feel now by the way?"
"Better, things could have gotten much worse", she said in a low voice thinking about Dwane's relentless pursuit to find and kill her.
"Indeed", Alec replied thinking of the probable consequences he'd have to face if he had consumed the spiked wine, she had saved him.
"Rest here, if you need anything, call Patty. I'll have your dinner sent here later today."
Alec said tugging her in and left the room.
