Chapter 6 - System

Four people were now situated in front of the wooden house. Silence enveloped the place as no one started speaking.

Bam was constantly looking at Mia without batting an eye, while the girl herself was trying her best to control herself from running away out of embarrassment.

She is, after all, currently sitting in her humble house next to her grandfather. Hence she focused her gaze on Abaddon as, from time to time, sneakily sending a quick glance in Bam's direction.

Ben, on the other hand, was completely dissatisfied with this situation. And if his parents didn't ask him to accompany his brother and escort the bride to their clan's mansion, he would have never bothered with this.

In his eyes, Abaddon and Mia were but mere mortals that didn't know how the real world works. And daring to seduce his elder brother and actually disturb his plan and Cultivation was literally courting death.

Hence, he didn't even bother to converse with them. And for him, bowing and looking at them should be the happiest thing that ever happened to these mortals.

As the awkward situation continued for a few minutes, Bam finally broke the silence. Trying his best to act humble and caring so Abaddon doesn't dislike him and refuses the marriage proposal.

" Mr. Chester, can I call you grandpa by any chance? It feels so formal to call you mister while we will soon be part of the same clan."

Bam was in no way arrogant as a person, and he understood his own worth. Cause despite his clan being second grade and not that far off from reaching first grade.

He knew that his clan and he himself were looked down upon by the first-grade clans, much less the ones above. So that arrogance was long gone at that time when he got humiliated in an auction.

Hence, he swore that he would never look down on anyone before he reached the top of the echelon and look down on everyone without a single being standing above him.

Ben was an entirely different case, and that's because his circumstances were like the difference between heaven and earth if compared to his big brother, and he honestly has the right to be arrogant for various reasons, even in front of stronger clans.

' I stoop so low, till the point where a mere mortal is talking to me face to face without kneeling and shivering. This journey that's called life is really unpredictable, huh? '

As Abaddon thought of the millions of people that died out of fear from the sole mention of his name, he indifferently answered Bam.

" You can call me whatever you want. But you didn't yet introduce the person next to you, and why does he look a bit annoyed? Is something the matter?"

He didn't forget to have some fun with Ben, who clearly looked like he didn't want to be there. Obviously, he is letting out provoking words to the kid based on his confidence that Bam will let nothing happen to him and Mia.

Ben gave him a deadly stare; killing intent was visibly displayed in his eyes and face. If his stare could kill people, then the old man who just dared to point at him would have undoubtedly died countless times already.

On the other hand, Abaddon was completely unfazed by Ben's angry stare or even his expression. Already understanding that this kid was just arrogant.

However, Abaddon is greatly unsatisfied by this whole situation that's occurring in front of him and how this Bam is acting.

He could effortlessly understand Ben's thoughts and feelings, as it was normal for him to look down on people who didn't even hop on their journey of Cultivation yet.

While Bam is so humble to people like them and even marries an unknown girl without any background. Made him feel disgusted cause he knew that it was the work of the so-called love.

Thus, it made him think back to the traitor that got him killed right after he pushed those thoughts away.

But he directly dismissed those useless, distracting thoughts from his brain. But took that angry feeling that he just felt as fuel and drive to get even stronger, imprinting that day in his brain until he tortured and beheaded every single one of them.

And killing that traitor was a great help in that regard. As he instantly made that angry feeling not be directed to that mere ant and fully directed it and concentrated on that strange Alex and the other righteous emperors who actually dared to kill him.

" Watch your to..."

Before Ben could finish his sentence, Bam turned his head to his brother sitting next to him. He glared at him with a look that clearly said: Say no more unless you want to get beaten up.

Then he quickly shifted his gaze back to Abaddon. Introducing his younger brother to him, apologizing for his disrespectful behavior since the moment that he showed up.

" This is my younger brother Ben. He has been quite nervous about the tournament that's to come in the near future. That's why he is acting like this, don't mind him, please, Grandpa."

However, the person he was speaking to, which was obviously Abaddon, was currently facing a situation that he had never seen anything like it before.

His mind was in total chaos and confusion as he looked at the black screen in front of him. Yet, his face didn't showcase anything unusual, as nothing was happening to him, and everything was okay.

' What in the world is going on with me? Am I hallucinating due to the aftermath of reincarnating?'

' What are those black screens and several dings that I just heard? And what is a system in the first place.'

Uncertain whether he was facing reality or mere hallucinations, Abaddon repeatedly ran his hands over the black screen.

Yet, every time he attempted to disperse them, nothing seemed to happen, and his hand would just pass through the black screen like it was just an illusion.

When the system detected a keyword that Abaddon just thought of, a black screen with red-colored words appeared in front of him.

Attached to it was Chester's information. At the end of the screen, a word called "Mission" was constantly shining and dimming, beckoning to be addressed.

He calmed himself down after seeing that this black thing in front of him didn't seem to go away after several tries. And concentrated on the sentences that were written on it, gradually reading them all.
