Chapter 7 - Vol 2 Chapter 1: The Dorms and the moving Stairs.

I took the hat from my head and placed it back on the strange looking stool. I took a deep breath before moving to the Slytherin table.

The members of Slytherin were smiling and cherring, while the other tabels were quite angered that I had been picked to slytherin. The Gryffindor were even cussing at me for being a betrayal and a dissapointment to my parents who were both great wizards. Now that I hat sat down the hall quieted again and the older wizards of slytherin congratulated me for being a little Hatstall and told me not worry about the other houses.

It seemed like most of them weren't that suprised since they probably knew from my Prince surname, or has seen me in school helping out uncle Snape.

I sat next to a second year student named Virion Krauss. I had met him before and we had become quite food friends. Altough he was half-blood it didn't stop me from being friends with him and it didn't really annoy the other Slytherins since they didn't dare to do anything to me anyways because of Uncle Snape who even the Slytherins feared.

Suddenly a loud cling of cutlery was heard from the head table whereI noticed Albus Dumbledore had stood up. He was beaming at the students, his arms opened wide as if nothing could have pleased him more than to see them all there.

A narcissist I thought a little annoyed in my head. Who can even let such an old man be the headmaster. If it were the 21st century and the muggle world he would definitely be in jail or disbanded from his headmaster position.

"Welcome!" he started. "Welcome to a new year at Hogwarts! Before we begin our banquet, I would like to say a few words.

Nitwit! Blubber! Oddment! Tweak!

Thank you!"

I noticed that the words mentioned by him are just plain insults to all the houses and new students. Who even chose him as headmaster.

Nitwit is an idiot, the worst thing you can call a intellectual Ravenclaw.

Blubber is fat/excess, the worst thing you can call a proud and vain Gryffindor.

Oddment is a weirdo/outsider. The worst thing you can call a cliquey Slytherin.

Tweak means to fix or change. A familiar criticism to eccentric Hufflepuffs.

The moment he finished speaking all kinds of food appeared across the tables. Various dishes like roast beef, roast chicken, pork chops and lamb chops, sausages, bacon and steak, boiled potatoes, roast potatoes, fries, Yorkshire pudding, peas, carrots, gravy, ketchup, and peppermint humbugs were cooked for all to indulge.

Immediately I started stuffing in food, uncaring about all the rules that the old bat had thought me about eating. Seeing such delicious food just plaibly sitting in front of me I just could resist. The old bat had really been starving me. My favourites were the Bubble and squek and the Dutsch pancakes. It really makes you wonder who thought of those names.

The old bat would not feed me for weeks completely forgetting about my existence. If it was a normal kid they would probably have starved to death. With his long clousere potion raids, it was no wonder the old bat was mistaken sometimes for a ghost. Looking at his eating diet, it was a suprise that he was still alive and kicking.

When the desserts disappeared from the tables, Dumbledore stood up from his chair and asked for the student's attention in the hall. He cleared his throat before speaking,

"I have a few start-of-term notices to give you. First years should note that the forest on the grounds is forbidden to all pupils. And a few of our older students would do well to remember that as well. Mr. Filch, the caretaker, also asks me to remind you all that no magic should be used between classes in the corridors."

He pointed at Rolanda Hooch and continued, "Quidditch trials will be held in the second week of the term. Anyone interested in playing for their House teams should contact Madam Hooch."

The dinner ended with Dumbledore urging students to stand up for the school song. Of course the Weasley brothers were the ones singing with the most passion and alos were the last ones to stop singing. For some reason Dumbelodre seamed to enjoy them singing the death march but I guess everyone has their own tastes.

After which the Slytherin perfect told us to sit down and wait till all the other houses had left. It was good manners to be the last one to leave. Slytherin was also the only house were traditionally the house head would lead the students on the first day of school to their dorms. We followed uncle Snape or should I call him professor Snape. We arrived in front of the Slytherin dorms and entered. I made sure to remmber the pass code since the Slytherin house was using a pass code system not like the house of knowledge, the house of Ravenclaw which was always easily broken in by slightly brighter students.

The Slytherin common room was a common room for Slytherin House located in Slytherin Dungeon. In general, it sported several shades of green and the mantle was adorned with a portrait of a serpent (all associated with the house).

"The entrance to the common room is located behind a bare stretch of stone wall in the dungeons of Hogwarts Castle. A password is required to enter it; whereupon a passage will be revealed leading to the common room," explained uncle Snape

After entering Slytherin Dungeon, one enters a small room with a statue of a pair of mermaids, and a staircase to the right. One can reach the Slytherin common room by going down the stairs, around an indoor waterfall.

The common room was a dungeon-like room with greenish lamps and chairs. This dungeon extended partway under the lake, giving the light in the room a green tinge. The common room had lots of low backed black and dark green button-tufted, leather sofas; skulls; and dark wood cupboards. One of the wooden tables had a Wizard's Chess set on it. It was decorated with tapestries featuring the adventures of famous Medieval Slytherins. It had quite a grand atmosphere, but also quite a cold one.

Before letting us go to our dorms uncle Snape explained,"The password to the common room changes every fortnight, and it will be posted by me on the noticeboard. It is said that no outsider had entered the common room for more than seven centuries so let's try to keep that. Everybody is not allowed to reveal the password to anybody or bring somebody from an another house inside.

"You will find your luggage in your rooms, and please make sure to store the clothes that you want to be cleaned in the cupboards provided to you because any clothes in your trunk or luggage won't be taken for cleaning."

The rooms were naturally separated as boys dormitories were located on the left side from the grand staircase and the girls dormitories were located up the stairs through a hallway on the right side of the great staircase. Both hallways circled back around to the common room, meaning that each one had two entrances, one by the entrance to the common room itself, and one by the grand staircase.

The doors for the dormitories each had a number plaque, designating what year the dormitory was for. They were lined up in order from First year to Sixth year. It started with the First year dormitories from the entrance near the grand staircase and ended with the Sixth year dormitories at the other end of the hall near the common room entrance.

The Seventh year dormitories were located at the top of the grand staircase. The Seventh year dorms were larger and more grand than the others.

The rooms in Slytherin were all one person rooms unlike other houses where most where 5-man rooms and some 3-man rooms. The Slytherin valued their privacy very much and being the rich purebloods the chance was made in 1891.

It seemd like I was automatically elected by uncle Snape as the 1- years Perfect as My dorms number was 1-0 meaning first year and the 0 repesenting power and the Perfects dorm. The room was quite spacious, having a huge bed, a huge table and a seemingly comfortable chair. As mentioned before the luggage was left on the bed.

The favourite thing about the room was a huge round shaped window that covered by huge green curtains. This view could only be seen in Slytherin common room and dorms since the Slytherin Dungeon was built quite close to the lake. In the future I would spend quite a lot of time just sitting here while looking out at this beautiful sight and wondering about magic.

I placed my stuff and hopped on the bed. In no time I felt myself drifting away to the world of dreams.

...

The old bat,"This is gonna be a troublesome new year."

Dumbeldore,"We have quite a few interesting ones this year."

The little Prince Septimus,"💤"
