"Do you have materials stronger than adamantine, my brother?"
I looked around the alley before saying, "It's a secret, Amara. I have found a material that is very strong and has excellent magic energy conductivity!" I said quietly.
Amara was a little confused, she tilted her head. "Is that true?"
"You don't believe your brother?"
"Of course, I believe you. But, I need evidence to back up what you say. You're such a liar!"
"Need proof?" I once again looked around. "Have a look!"
I took out a small section of Clay Weapon that I had made red and hardened.
"This is a rare material. I earned it the hard way!"
Amara widened her eyes when she saw this masterpiece of mine. She touched it to feel its texture.
"Is this stronger than adamantine?"
"Yeah, and we should go somewhere else." I put the Clay Weapon back into my pocket. "This material is not enough to make a sword. I'll look for more."
"Well, what do you want to buy besides weapons? I'm rich right now!"
Amara narrowed her eyes at me. "I'm suspicious of the source of your money!"
But, she immediately grabbed my arm and pulled me towards a place.
Today was the second date between brother and sister since coming to the Capital. It was fun, we bought what we wanted. My sister looked happy.
But, the good memories of this day will be a little disturbed. Amara focused her attention on a boy holding a baby, maybe his family.
We are now eating ice cream while looking at the scenery by the Mefasu river.
"What's wrong, Amara?" I asked, knowing the source of the problem.
"Umm, I don't know. But, I feel like that kid is a little suspicious?"
I also glanced at the brown-haired boy who was walking towards us.
'Can the main character smell events related to the story?'
That boy was indeed suspicious! I could feel that something was wrong. Moreover, the look in that boy's eyes...
"Hey, you? Where are you going?" Amara kindly asked the boy as he passed in front of us.
The boy was surprised and probably scared. He didn't answer Amara's greeting. He also looked at me with a wary gaze.
"Don't be afraid, we won't hurt you. Umm, are you hungry? I have some bread, do you want to take it--"
He ran away from us.
"Rie, should we go after him? Is there something wrong with him?"
She does like to get involved with other people's problems. Yes, that's the main character's type.
We chased after the boy, he ran into the crowd and camouflaged himself there. Well, it was a futile act. I've memorized his magic energy. So, what he did was useless. We caught him and took him to a quiet alley.
"We won't hurt you. Please calm down! Why are you afraid of--"
"Let go of me! Let go of me, damn it!" The child struggled from Amara's grasp.
"I have to get the money! You can't--"
"Calm down!" Amara threatened, strengthening her grip. The child instantly stopped moving.
Money? What does that mean?
"Can you please explain what you said earlier?" asked Amara. She was still trying to be gentle with the boy.
Well, something was indeed wrong.
I close attention to the brown-haired boy holding a baby. I thought I had found something good.
There was a piece of opaque paper tucked into the back of his shirt. I picked it up and made him panic.
"Give it back to me!" He asked in a voice that sounded desperate.
Was this paper his hope?
'Oh, so that's all? Huh, I got it.' I gave the paper to Amara.
It wasn't a coincidence!
"What the hell is this? Who would make this? Selling babies?" Amara crumpled the paper in a fit of rage.
"Amara, calm down!" I tried to calm Amara.
"I'm fine." Amara looked at the boy seriously.
"Where did you get this? Do you intend to sell your brother?" asked Amara whose voice sounded gloomy.
"He's not my brother! This is just a baby my mom picked up. It's just another burden on our lives." The child cried. "Mom is sick and I don't have the money to take her to repentance."
"So, you intend to sacrifice this baby?"
"So what? He's not part of my family--"
*Bam!
Amara punched the boy into the wall. She has secured the baby first.
"When your mother is cured. What will you answer when she looks for this baby? Don't you think about your mother's feelings? Don't you think it would make her feel guilty if she knew that her recovery was the sacrifice of this baby?" Amara said in a loud voice.
The boy was speechless and his tears came rushing out.
"Hey, Amara. That's too much!"
I walked over to the boy and helped him up.
"I-I'm not like you guys, I'm just poor. Mom is my only family and I don't want to lose her. If you were in my position. You would do the same thing as me!" The boy looked at Amara with flat eyes.
"I would never sacrifice others." My sister shook her head. "I'll sell anything that can be sold from my body parts!"
That's a good declaration, Amara. A strong determination. Your principle is to never sacrifice anyone to achieve your goals. But, the world is not as good as you think! There will be times in the future when you will have to make difficult choices.
The boy's mentality is shattered! He didn't know what to do. Amara spoke as if he was a bad person.
"Do you think your meeting with us was not fate?" said Amara, she smiled at the brown-haired boy.
Oh, my money will run out again.
