Such a hellish place!" Eve breathed out and grunted as she sauntered through the hallway with a bit of difficulty. She had never wanted to come to the place in the first place and now, this?
Her face twitched with a slight frown, she also gritted her teeth unhappily. She had sneaked off to find some snacks but she never expected that she would get lost after five minutes.
The Castle had a maze-like structure making it very difficult for her to return to the ballroom. She does not even have any idea of where she was and it irked her. Now, she regretted not waiting for Aaron as he instructed but, one thing about her appetite, she just could not control it.
Eve felt at loss for once, she did not find anything that she could eat, and now, she was lost!
If it were not for the etiquettes taught by the wardens in the slave home, she would have cursed, yelled, and then grabbed her hair and tugged it until it became a bird's nest to show her frustration in the empty hallway.
Eve stopped walking for a second, she lowered her head looking aggrieved, and bit her lip. Then, she sighed, if only she could lay her hand on one guard, she might be able to return... That was her wishful thoughts.
She kicked an imaginary pebble, picked up the sides of her skirt, and turned around, Eve collided head-on with a firm structure. Her pointed nose directly knocked against the sturdy chest of the fellow.
"Ow!"
Eve's nose hurt and her eyes stung from the pain. She winced and held her nose. She hoisted her head instantly to seek an apology from the figure but the moment she locked eyes with this person, everything halted.
Forget her pain, and reddened eyes, Eve even felt her breathing ease as her grievance died off.
Her eyes locked with a majestic presence, she was not frozen by the embedded dark-red orbs but was shocked by his overwhelming handsomeness. She was still stuck to his sturdy build and did not feel anything shameful about it. Eve was momentarily stunned by his ravishing beauty but not his intimidating presence. In fact, she had not felt anything intimidating about him.
Just like her, Ezriel's anger and arrogance seeped away when his eyes and on her, compared to him, she was only a tiny presence but this presence made his quiet wolf leap.
He felt a surge of raw emotions, a deep sense to own and to dominate this little one. His eyes locked in the whirlpool within her golden orbs and it awakened something that he never felt before in his over five hundred years of existence.
Thump!
Thump!
His blood pumped harder and flowed faster in his veins. Warmth rushed across his body and pooled in his abdomen. His wolf jerked stubbornly and it took extra strength to restrain it from jumping out of his body.
He could feel its excitement in his body, and while he was still stuck in his reverie, a distinctive aroma that he had reminisced over the years wafted into his nostrils.
The peculiar tangerine-flavored scent mixed with local spice and now basked in maturity assaulted his sense of smell. That alluring fragrance had messed with his mind from the first whiff of it, etched in his mind and such that he could never forget.
Everything happened in just a few seconds, his searing red eyes flickered, and he was filled with certainty, this is the one he had been searching for.
Knowing this, he just wanted to claim her immediately but he restrained his soaring emotions and tamed the beast within him. His rigid facial muscle stretched and a smile carved on his handsome face while he stared at the little one.
"Lost?"
He spoke the first word to her that night. Eve finally blinked, his deep masculine voice snapped her out of her daze.
"Uh..." she murmured.
Forget it, she was still dazed by his astounding presence, and her breath was yet to be even. In her eighteen years of existence, she had never acted this foolish.
How could she not be captivated by such existence before her? Only his burning gaze upon her made her forget everything else. Her stomach flustered and her face flushed, she involuntarily ran her tongue over her dry lips.
Albeit innocent, her move was yet seductive in the eyes of the man. His red eyes darkened and he leaned even closer, completely towering over her.
Eve could be considered a tall girl among her peers, she was not rounded like the noble ladies and despite her thin body, she still maintained a good figure that made others envious. But, compared to his firm stature, she was just one tiny little girl.
"What is your name?" He queried, his eyes never leaving her face. He was only satisfied peering down at her like that.
From the moment they met, it was fated, she was his, and his alone. Even if she wanted to, she could never escape.
Of course, Eve had no idea of his thoughts.
She blushed when his silky smooth voice rang into her ear. Because of their position, he was so close and only kept a small distance from her. She was not a shy girl but she could not help but be flustered.
She popped up her chin and parted her lips, "Eve..." she answered.
"Eve..." he repeated with a drawl. Eve felt that her name seemed sweeter and had a nicer flavor on his tongue than she had ever heard anyone pronounce. This effect intensified her blush.
Perhaps, it was the smile on his face that gave her the courage to meet his eyes and also to question him.
"What is yours?" She asked.
Brave, huh? Ezriel thought. She would be the first person ever who did not quiver in his presence. Even his intimidating aura was nothing to her. She stubbornly met his eyes and even questioned him. A woman for him was indeed rare.
"Ezriel." He answered her, his eyes still fixed on her, so intense and it was as though he wanted to suck her in.
