Goodness, Your Majesty, where have you been?" Dominik expressed as soon as he arrived by the side of the Alpha.
He had long thought that the king would be present at the ball since he left but on getting to the ballroom, he could not sight the king. Knowing fully well that it was his duty to be by the king's side at all times, he hurriedly went in search of his king. He found the king standing in a daze in the hallway and for an instant, he thought he saw wrong.
He walked to the king's side and pinched the space between his brows when he saw his much his king was distracted in the empty hallway. Like a nagging mother, he opened his mouth and began to seriously berate his king.
"Your Majesty, you organized this ball yourself and the entire kingdom is in there waiting for you, you cannot just ignore your people and stand here doing nothing! I thought you would be in the banquet hall already but—" Dominik stopped abruptly, his deep orange-colored eyes glistened slightly and dimmed, a frown morphed in his brows, he etched closer to the king and sniffed.
"What is this smell, your majesty? If I am correct, a human was here a while ago?" Delta Dominik queried suspiciously, he sniffed the air around the king and knitted his brows. Taking a step back, he looked at Ezriel.
"Your majesty, what have you been up to?" Dominik queried, his scrutiny eyes searching the king's face suspiciously and he knitted his thick brows.
Ezriel shot his brother a cold look, secrecy flickered in his red orbs and the edge of his lips tilted slightly carving into an infamous smirk.
"You will see" he simply uttered in a deep voice.
Dominic did not want to make assumptions, he had so a lot to ask the alpha king but seeing the mirth grazing his brother's eyes, he swallowed back his words and gazed at the marble floor with a deep frown etched on his handsome face.
"What are you thinking about? Bring me to the ballroom" Ezriel ordered and turned around. Without giving his brother a chance to react, he started walking away.
The Delta did not dare follow, he stood rooted on spot and glanced at his brother's back with doubt. King Ezriel halted and tilted his body slightly.
"Did you not hear me?" he asked coldly.
The Delta snapped out of his daze and hurried after the king. Just as they had walked a few steps forward, Dominik looked at the back view of the alpha and narrowed his eyes.
"Don't you think you are forgetting something, your majesty?" The Delta enunciated sharply.
Ezriel cocked a brow, he was forgetting something?
"You did not come with your mask, your majesty, are you planning to appear before the people bare-faced?"
The King quirked a brow for a second time, his haughty face lighten up in amusement and when he opened his mouth, his next words flowed out effortlessly.
"With a godly look like mine, what is there to cover?" The king gave a cocky response and for a moment, the delta fell into a dizzy spell. He nearly stumbled over.
His Majesty was simply too arrogant, okay!
He picked his steps and hurried after the king seeing that the alpha was really going to bare his face in public this time. He had even forgotten about the 'human' scent he noticed on the alpha.
Without giving much notice, the king slipped into the ballroom, just around the same time when Eve was dragged back to the room by Madeline.
Many of the ladies twirled around, not in response to the low waltz music but in astonishment at the gorgeous man who walked in. An appealing smirk endowed his face as he sat down on the highest podium where his eyes could reach as far as he wanted.
Sigh, such an attention seeker. The Delta drew in a long breath and tried hard not to glare at the King who had left everyone completely astonished by his unexpected presence.
Well, everyone but not a particular two women.
The king's eyes scrutinized the crowd until his gaze fell on her— she was being dragged by her best friend to a corner, her auburn red hair had become a slightly messed up bun, her cherry blossom lips puckered and her brows knitted, she looked like an endearing and troublesome little thing— he had no idea of what the girls were discussing but, her charming and exquisite beauty caused the corner of his lips to tilt up.
Delta Dominik caught his king's eyes peering at a particular spot for quite a while, he appeared unusually laid back and a refreshing smile graced his lips. He also looked ahead in that direction but found nothing exactly appealing.
A handful of ladies, mostly socialites and princesses from different kingdoms, dressed in graceful attire, endowed with gold and silver, practiced all manners of etiquettes and blushed at the appropriate time.
The Delta furrowed his brows, he knew his king well, he was not into that kind of uninteresting life, and be it power or wealth that tge ladies flaunted, he reeked of it already for centuries. Just when he was about to look away, his eyes caught on something.
A slender female, and judging by her physique, she must be a human. The pale green dress she wore was particularly eye-catching despite it was not worth anything good, from the outline of her face and figure, she must be a dashing beauty, her unusual red hair curled around the edges of her face giving her an innocent look.
The most outstanding point to note about her is that, something feels different, especially when her eyes unexpectedly flickered in his direction, he met her eyes, a pair of golden orbs that shone as though they were the sun—
The Delta frowned, a skeptical look flashed in his eyes for a split-second, he looked at the king who was still savoring the image of the woman within his sight, and jutted in that direction.
"Who is she, your majesty?" he quizzed.
For the first time since the king stepped into the ballroom, he shifted his gaze from the woman and quirked a brow.
Who is she? He thought and tapped the arm of his chair. A certain pleasant thought that filled his insides with thrills and warmth clouded his mind. For a moment, he was captivated by that euphoric sensation...
