Chapter 21 - Alucard's Death

"Found it!" Alucard suddenly said.

"Where?" In a flash, Lucy hovered to the other side and stood before Alucard, her gaze staring intently at the thick book in his grasp.

"What I meant to say was that I've got a clue on how to find the book," Alucard said as he saw the excited glint swirling in Lucy's eyes.

The glints disappeared; a frown appeared instead on Lucy's face, and when she was about to throw a tantrum like some spoiled child, the book in Alucard's hands began to float and glow fiercely.

Then, a vortex popped out of thin air and sucked in Alucard; even the invisible Lucy vanished. Not too long again, the slim bookish boy, whom Alucard had killed some minutes earlier, jolted up to his feet and began picking up the book, separating it, and placing it as if nothing had happened.

Landing butt first, Alucard appeared on a smooth marble floor; at first, he thought he had appeared back at the manor, but upon closer look, he appeared to be in between a towering bookshelf. With a frown, Alucard got up.

"Lucy, I think this is the place. The diary will be here."

"What makes you so sure?" Lucy didn't waste another second as she hovered close to the shelf and began searching.

"I just know. Because it's a book we're looking for, and where are books usually kept?" Alucard's tone sounded quite sarcastic.

"...." The ghost girl didn't say anything, aware that what he said actually made sense. Again, it could be placed anywhere; if Lucy's memories serve right, Dracula was a pretty weird person, one you might see doing useless, random things, but on a closer look, you'll be shocked that all those useless things were important.

"I hope this will work," Alucard muttered silently to himself as he closed his eyes. He wanted to try the X-ray-like abilities from the casket of memories. A while later, Alucard's eyes snapped open, and now he could see everything and all the content in the books.

The thousands of information surging into his head were so frightening and overwhelming that Alucard was inwardly afraid that he might go nuts. Contrary to his thinking, he was still rather fine, and the influx of knowledge just kept on pouring in.

Like this, Alucard walked from shelf to shelf, making his search easier. At some point, even Lucy stopped and hovered back, her gaze staring intently at Alucard, thinking about what he was doing.

The library was much larger than the two had thought. It spanned for only God knew, and the shelf seemed endless. Thankfully, Alucard's vampire powers didn't need mana like his magical elements.

He could use it for as long as he could. Of course, when he is worn out and exhausted, he can't.

"If we searched just by hand, I think it would have taken us months to go through all these books." Alucard made an ice throne as he sat tiredly on it, sweat dribbling down his face.

'His ice control just kept on improving with each second,' Lucy silently thought.

With those thoughts shoved into the back of his head, Lucy continued her search. Unlike some other creatures, she is a ghost, so she can't get exhausted.

'I wonder if she would have endless stamina in bed?' Alucard thought a jolt of shivers passed through his spine. He just realized something.

Lucy would be a freaking monster in bed!

A while later, Alucard got up from his comfort zone. His stamina returned rather swiftly due to him being a vampire, and he began his search again...this time around, he was now moving at a much faster pace. From his estimation, they've spent close to a day here.

During his search, Alucard found out that most of this library's content was pretty useless. It didn't have much information about the outside world. Rather, it was fucking math, English, and some other subjects from Earth.

The only difference about these books were the design. The books were designed as though it were some important ancient book.

Alucard could only think of one thing.

Dracula purposely placed all these books in here just to wore him out and make him quit, and that was something Troy would have done.

However, Troy's old personality was long gone, replaced by Alucard, a personality that would never quit.

But still, this search was daunting.

While he was skimming through the shelf, Alucard's gaze fell on a particular book. For some reason, his X-ray ability won't just work on the book. Working forward under the confused gaze of Lucy, Alucard picked up the book, but the next instant, he tossed it away as he felt his hand searing hot and his outer skin was now visible.

'Fuck!' Alucard caused inwardness as he gritted his teeth, waiting for the regeneration to kick in, and so it did.

When his hand was entirely healed again, Alucard stared at the front cover of the book. It had a cross symbolizing the holy church, which was glowing slightly with a brilliant golden light.

"How did this thing get in here?  Can Dracula touch this holy stuff?" Alucard thought as he called Lucy over.

Since he couldn't touch the book, Alucard figured that Lucy might be able to, and as expected, Lucy leisurely picked up the book and began flipping through it. However, her eyes widened at the first page. She glanced between Alucard and the book in her grasp in a train of conflicting emotions.

"What is it? Let me see." Alucard was about to snatch the book, but memories of the seared hand appeared in his mind, and he could only take a peek.

Lucy hesitated to show Alucard the book. She didn't know how he'd feel if he saw the contents, but after a while, she decided to let him see them anyway.
