Inside this gloomy room, Alucard could see a golden coffin at the end, exuding a faint golden light.
The coffin had a series of golden Latin symbols scribbled around it in weird shapes, which made it difficult for Alucard, who had vast knowledge in several languages, to make sense of it.
"Why do I feel like sleeping inside this coffin?" Alucard found it weird that he was actually tempted to sleep in a coffin. It almost appears as if the coffin was whispering.
'Come and take a nap.'
"Lucy, do you also have the urge to sleep in the casket?" Alucard glanced at Lucy, who was also focused on the coffin.
"No! It's just that I could feel something." The ghost put her hands on her lips in a silent gesture.
Alucard just shrugged as he tried to listen as well.
Then, a few seconds later, a low whisper resounded in the room.
The whispers were mostly 'Alucard' at least from what they could hear.
After hearing his name, the white-haired boy sent a glance at Lucy, who just shrugged. "If you want to ask why I'm hearing your name, then I'm as in the dark as you."
Once the whispering increased and was now audible, Alucard began to walk around, checking each corner of the room. Thanks to him being a vampire, it was pretty easy for his gaze to roam around almost in the dark room as if it were daytime.
"Lucy, check the other side." Alucard pointed to the left side of the room before going back to his search.
"Why does this feel like a command instead of a request?" The ghost girl thought but did as he said. She didn't know why, but it was like she was forced to carry out Alucard's order subconsciously.
"These are just old books." The vampire stared at a pile of books neatly arranged on a shelf that was covered by dust.
"I don't think it's here either." Lucy also yelled back from the other side.
After taking another look, Alucard's eyes fell on the inviting casket in the middle, screaming: 'Come take a nap.'
He shook his head. "It can't be? A coffin possibly can't be calling me, right?" At that moment, a light bulb flashed in Alucard's head.
"Fuck! Why didn't I notice earlier?!" Alucard felt like slapping himself on the cheek when he remembered the kind of world this was. It was magical after all, so the coffin calling him didn't seem impossible.
"Lucy, I think it's the coffin." He said as he glanced at the ghost girl, who had a nonchalant gaze as she hovered to his side.
"It seems like you're not doing your job well as a guide." Alucard suddenly whispered in Lucy's ears, causing a wave of shock to surge through her body.
Her cheeks turn slightly red. The ghost girl felt stiff as she tried to understand what caused her to react like this. 'His mere whisper makes me freeze like this?'
She thought but quickly shook her head. She was a goddess (self-given) who was proud and confident, so it felt weird for her to react like this. Subconsciously, she thought:
'Maybe it was something else. The last time I checked, I didn't have a feeling. According to that man.'
"Um, Ms. Goddess, it seems like your divine powers failed to locate what we're looking for." The expression on Alucard's face seemed neutral, almost as if he wasn't being sarcastic.
"Oh, sorry, this goddess doesn't want to help you." With a humph, she looked away but took another glance at Alucard, who just shrugged as he started approaching the casket.
As he got closer, the whispers and the glows skyrocketed.
And after seeing this phenomenon, Alucard concluded that it was indeed the casket calling him. Though he knew that some vampires like to sleep in coffins, it still felt weird to him since, deep inside, he was still the old 'Troy.'
"Okay, coffin, what do you want?" Alucard asked when he was just a couple of inches away from the casket. After his questions, he realized that he had stopped hearing the whispers.
Taking a step back, he heard the whispers.
Walking forward, the whispers stopped.
The vampire had a hunch that whatever was calling him would be inside the coffin. Several scenarios of rotten, gooey hands coming out of the casket popped into his head, but being the hot-headed kind, he reached his hands to the coffin.
He proceeded to pull it open.
"STOP!!!"
"Agh!" Alucard covered his ears as he heard that piercing scream, which almost caused blood to come out of his ears. Once the ringing stopped, he glanced at the door.
Muna was staring daggers at him with dark, gloomy eyes that felt like they were shooting invisible beams at Alucard.
Gulp
The white-haired boy gulped a mouthful of saliva before a smile returned to his face. "What's the problem, Mun?"
"Stay away from that coffin."
"Why?" Alucard raised a brow. The old him hadn't entered this room, so he was left in the dark about the casket.
"If you don't stay away, I'll be forced to use strength, and you know how I can be." Muna narrowed her eyes.
The fact that there wasn't a smile on Muna's face made Alucard believe whatever was inside this casket was something important.
And that only made him more curious.
"What's inside the casket?" He asked. "If you tell me, I'll walk away from it."
"I can't tell you; it's for your own good, but when you get stronger, I'll tell you."
Alucard felt a light migraine. Since he was a kid, he had always heard.
"When you become stronger, I'll tell you."
"When you become stronger, I'll show you."
"When you become stronger, I'll teach you."
He couldn't even remember how many times he had heard: 'when you become stronger.' It was quite annoying, but he put up with it since he knew they all meant the best for him. But today…he glanced at the coffin and Muna.
"I'm sorry."
"Good, now be a good boy and come over here. Wait—what?!" Muna dashed forward!
But it was too late; the casket flung open, a hand popped out, and yanked Alucard inside.
And with a BAM, the coffin shut close!
