Chapter 25 - Friend Or Foe

Meanwhile, on Nat's side, he was inside his room, sitting on the chair there with a glass of red drink in his hand. He would occasionally sip from the glass and then shake his head with a light smile on his face.

"I can't believe a vampire's blood would be this sweet," he mumbled after sipping another one. While he was enjoying his drink, black smoke appeared by the corner of the room, and from the smoke emerged a lady dressed in black with a veil covering her face. The only thing visible was her blue eyes.

"Master," she called to him as she approached and bowed before him.

"Were you able to do what I tasked you with?" Nat seeing her, dropped his glass of drink and faced her. "Did you get any information on him?"

"Master, I did all I could but I found nothing about him," she replied with her head still lowered.

"What do you mean you found nothing about him? Did he appear out of thin air or did he just fall from the sky?" Nat asked her, he seemed not happy with the result.

"Master, I'm sorry but the truth is that it looks like he just appeared out of thin air. There's no information on him, not his family, nothing about his background, his powers, and all others. The only thing I was able to find out is that he's a newborn vampire," the lady replied.

"Newborn? What is that?" Nat asked her.

"Newborn is a baby stage for a vampire. He's still in his baby stage," the lady explained.

"A baby stage? But his powers are... Never mind, go back and don't stop. I want you to get me useful information about him, even the tiniest bit of it, I need it all. Now go!" He said to her.

"Yes, Master!" The lady replied and disappeared.

When the lady was gone, Nat picked up his glass again and continued to sip from it but his mind was somewhere else. "If he's just a baby vampire, why do I feel he's strong? Or is it just my thinking? Thinking about this now, I can't help but feel some regret for asking for aid from a baby vampire," he mumbled to himself. While he was still talking to himself, a knock came at his door. "Who could be knocking?" He muttered and stood up to go check at the door.

Opening the door, he was surprised to see the person. "Speak of the Devil and he'll come to you," he mumbled under his breath and pushed the door open for the person knocking.

"Did you just call me a devil?" Allen asked him whilst entering inside.

"Did you hear that?" Nat asked him. "It was barely a whisper," he added.

"I can hear even the lowest sound, the only thing I can't hear is the heartbeat," Allen replied and walked to the chair where Nat was sitting before. He glanced at the table and saw the glass of red drink, seeing it, he already knew what it was. "Is this freshly brought or?" He turned and asked him.

"It's a fresh vampire's blood, wanna give it a try?" Nat replied with a sly smile. He watched Allen's face to know his expression but the latter was rather cool.

"Nah, I'll pass. I prefer a human's blood," Allen replied with a wave of his hand.

"And you are cool about it? I mean, I killed a vampire, won't you ask me about it? Or fight with me?" Nat asked him. He was curious to know why Allen wasn't bothered by the fact that he killed his fellow vampire because it was so unlike him as a vampire to act like it was nothing.

"Why should I care? You were able to kill him because he wasn't strong enough to protect himself, it's none of my business," Allen replied with an unbothered look on his face.

"No, it's she and not he," Nat corrected him to see his reaction.

"Huh? It's all the same, vampires are vampires whether a she or a he. I don't actually care about them," Allen replied and shrugged.

"Are you sure about what you are saying—"

"That's not why I'm here so quit asking me irrelevant questions already," Allen said, rudely interrupting Nat who was about to ask him another question.

"Oh? Then why did you come here?" Nat asked him.

"I'm here on account of what we spoke about. I promised to help you, right? And should I say everything is working well," Allen replied.

"Working well? How do you mean exactly?" Nat asked him.

"Your girlfriend says the only way to terminate the contract is by either of you dying. Demons don't die quick or I'd have decided to kill you. And the girl is a human, I simply feel like not killing her. What do you think I should do?" Allen replied and asked him again.

"Are you seriously asking me that? I don't care what you do, you can decide to kill her if you want, I'm not gonna stop you. But don't think you can kill me, you won't even be able to your fingers on a single strand of my hair," Nat replied.

"So you chose the human girl to die, huh? You are directly saying she means nothing to you," Allen said and clicked his tongue. "Very well then. I'm not in the mood to kill or I'd have done that the moment I took her to my room," he added, causing Nat to turn and look at him.

"Took her to your room? Why?" He asked Allen.

"And how's that your business?" Allen asked him back and a sinister smile stretched out on his face.

"Did you both do something funny?" Nat asked.

"Do I look like a horny dog?" Allen retorted with a scoff.

"That's some bad word for a kid your age," Nat commented and chuckled. "Anyways, I simply do not care what she does with other guys. I don't love her so her actions don't hurt me at all."

"So you know what she's like?" Allen asked him and sighed. "I saw that the moment she approached me for the first time."

"Uhmm. That's the more reason why I can't marry her," Nat replied with a sigh. "Girls like her... Complete waste."

"That's some harsh words... Not like I care about her feelings. I'm only involving myself in her matters because of you. Once I'm done with it, I will..." Allen said and paused.

"Yeah, do whatever you like," Nat replied.

"Very well then, I'll be going," Allen said before leaving.

"Sure," Nat replied and watched Allen leave. When he had left, he smiled and sat down on his bed.  "I feel he's going to make a good friend," he muttered to himself and chuckled.

Meanwhile, when Allen left the room, he glanced at the door and a deep scowl appeared on his face before he shook his head and left the place.
