Last night, Mathew came to me with a sinister plan for his comrades. He wanted to teach them a lesson about the dangers of the world. "I don't care if some of them die, but they need to realize that this is not a game. Sacrifices are necessary," he said, his face cold and serious.
"What are you planning to do?" I asked, feeling uneasy.
"My plan is to follow them secretly, lure some zombies to their location, and then act like a hero to save them," he said, his voice devoid of emotion.
"Aren't they like your family? Why would you want some of them to die?" Shana asked, curious and concerned about his plan.
"Of course I don't want them to die," he said and paused.
"Then why—" Shana tried to ask, but he cut her off.
"We have no other choice, do we? They are so stubborn and naive. They think they can just go back to their families as if nothing has changed. We can't control them if they leave. Even if we force them to stay, they will just betray us and run away," he said, his voice bitter and angry.
I sighed, feeling conflicted. I understood his frustration, but I didn't like his method. Still, I knew he had a point. The world was too dangerous for them to wander around without proper guidance and protection. Maybe this was the only way to make them see the reality. "Fine, I will tell Rex about your plan. He will help you. Just tell him what to do and what you want to achieve," I said, hoping he knew what he was doing.
"Thank you," he said and left. I watched him go, wondering if this was the right decision.
Now in the current time, we continued to travel, small groups of scouts are being sent to find supplies and survivors. Taking everything we could took while we're at it. Our progress are slow as we have lots of supplies with us, same with vehicles, large and small, large specially the vehicles from the quarry.
The machines that was used are
2 Excavator
2 Large Dumpers
6 Medium Dumpers
10 Tippers
2 Wheel Loaders
1 Drilling Machines
These machines are crucial for tasks such as transporting materials, excavating, and drilling into the earth. Mathew explained to me why they don't have more, and he explained that, Two excavators can help with efficient excavation, and having a combination of large dumpers, medium dumpers, and tippers provides flexibility for material transport.
Two wheel loaders can assist in handling materials at the site, and one drilling machine is appropriate for the initial drilling needs. As the quarry progresses, adjustments to the machinery can be made based on the evolving operational requirements.
I just accepted it as it is as it's useful for us anyway….

It's been 4 days since then, we arrived at our base. Current number: more than 500 plus the people in the mansion. It's more or less 600 people. The mansion is too small for those people. That's why, using the surrounding villages, we made it into a base. Creating wodden walls, barricades and traps, it was successful.
In the mansion, all the important people and leaders gathered in each group. We began a meeting. "Alright, we have a lots of problems in our plates right now, but the first thing we'll discuss will be our new base. The mansion is too small for all of us, thou we used the surrounding village for the others, but with all of us separated like this, there will be for sure betrayal" I said as as I laid down the map on the table.
"So do you have any suggestions for our new base?" I asked looking at them. A hand was raise, it was the mayor's son, Russell. "Why not make the village near us our base? I think we could all fit in that" he suggested
"The village here is surrounded by forest, it may be a good idea as it will be hard for zombies to attack us but it will also be hard for us to attack them as well, specifically in the night." Rex, the former military said, he is saying it base from our experience at the attacked of the horde.
"How about an island? Zombies can't swim right?" William said, the police officer who also joined us just a while ago.
"It's too far away and takes too much time, resources and man power. I doubt that we're still half if we arrived there" Shana said, the police chief we saved in a town nearby.
"I watched a show where they took over a prison in a zombie apocalypse. Prisons are far away from any settlement and it's also well fortified" Roger said, a leader of a mercenary in the past.
"Oh? That show? But wasn't the prison here nearby was bombed by the military fearing the prisoners will go out and cause havoc to the society" Steff said my childhood friend.
"Then how about we create our own base ourselves?" Amy suggested, she's also my childhood friend.
"It takes too much time, months, or maybe a year." Mathew said, the leader of the people we rescued in the quarry.
I sighed, feeling the pressure of making decisions in this apocalyptic world. We had to find a new base, a safe and secure place for all of us. But none of the suggestions we had heard so far seemed feasible or realistic. We needed a better idea, and fast.
As we were discussing the pros and cons of each option, Nana, who was sitting next to me and munching on some chips, suddenly spoke up. She had a surprisingly insightful suggestion.
